How do you learn to replace the head gasket on your 1998 Olds Silhouette?
Hello, Not a mechanic, vacuum specialist or a electrician, I've managed to replace the head gasket on my 1998 Silhouette. It's running better than it ever has, passed emissions and is getting 5/mpg better then when I started the job. Begin first by investing in a digital camera. As you remove the simplest of clamps wire connectors and bolts, take pictures from every angle along the way. Very importantly mark and tag wires, especially spark plug wires, as to their orientation and take pictures of these as well. Guaranteed you will lose some of the markings and tags. The pictures will remind you approximately how things go back. You will be able to figure out the rest. I also used a journal to write notes as I went along and drew plenty of pictures. I also dedicated a bench in the garage so I could lay things out in the order that they were removed. I took pictures of all of that as I went along too. And last of all , work with your friendly parts counter person at a dealership for genuine parts and blow up pictures of the engine. I got all of this from the parts counter at our local Chevrolet dealership. So here is what I did: Drain the anti freeze and remove the battery cables. Working slowly, and using the precautions mentioned above, remove the vacuum lines, some of the wire harness connectors and air intake components. Work your way to the back to the ignition module and then remove the serpentine belt. Make sure that during the whole process you never turn the engine. At around this point I lifted the van onto jack stands. I removed the water pump, alternator and moved the power steering pump out of the way. I unbolted the refrigeration components making sure all lines staid intact. Zip ties become your friend and helping hands. Next come the valve cover gaskets, upper plenum, fuel injector rail and exhaust system. The vehicle needs to be lifted for both removing the exhaust and firewall side spark plugs. (Be very careful when under the vehicle. Make sure it is propped up steadily and the jacks) I used a floor jack pumped up as a backup system. Next I removed the push rods and rockers. For god

Where is the antenna mast assembly located on a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero?
The antenna motor is located in the right front fender. Access to the motor is via the right front wheel well: remove the front right tire first, then several plastic pop-out fasteners and a few sheet metal screws holding the plastic wheel well cover in place (you can just push it aside, as it's fairly flexible). Two more screws hold the motor in place. If your antenna isn't moving up or down, chances are the mast itself is broken, not the power motor. If it is, you will need to remove the broken peice from inside the motor assembly ( a few screws on the motor will allow you to open it). Once done, put it all back together, turn the radio on and put the new mast in place (in the up position). Now turn the radio off and it should retract; if it doesn't, repeat after turning the mast toothed spline (should be facing toward the vehicle front).
WHAT UP DUDE.. FIRST LOCATE YOUR BELTS.. GOT IT? COOL.. NOW I HAVE A 1997 GST AND I JUST CHANGED MY BELTS. EASIEST WAY TO DO IT IS TO JACK UP YOUR CAR AND SET IT ON JACK STANDS, BUT FIRST LOCATE THE HUGE MOTOR MOUNT ON THE LEFT SIDE ABOVE THE BELTS.. COOL. SO YOUR ON JACK STANDS. TAKE ANOTHER JACK AND PUT A PIECE OF WOOD ON IT. LOCATE THE OIL PAN AND LIFT SLIGHTLY. YOU DO THIS TO TAKE THE WEIGHT OFF THE MOTOR MOUNT BOLTS. TAKE THAT OFF AND CHANGE YO BELTS!.. LIFT SLIGHTLY ON THE OIL PAN I LEARNED THE HARD WAY. LOCATE YOUR TENSIONERS LOOSEN YOUR BELTS AND REPLACE.. SICE YOU MIGHT HAVE TO MOVE A BELT TO GET TO ONE.. JUST REPLACE THEM ALL.. just be sure to mark them so you no where they go!
Check to see if your car is equipped with an inertia switch. If you hit something it cuts all power to the fuel pump. Usually the inertia switches that I have seen are located in the trunk of the vehicle, but I don't know exactly on an Eclipse. Hope this helps!

How do you replace the thermostat located on a 1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse?
drain the radiator there's a plug on the lower side of the drivers side it twists out. Make sure you have a bucket to drain it into then you can reuse it. Once that's done follow the top line from the radiator to the housing it's connected to. That hub it's connected to needs to be taking off then the thermostat sits in there pull it out and replace it with your new one.
If you looking to test the old one if you drop it into a vat of boiling water, if it opens then it's still good.
