Flames shooting out of race car exhaust pipes is caused by unused fuel passing from the cylinder into the exhaust system and lighting by the heat of the exhaust. Race cars run a different grade of fuel than a normal passenger car so this is common. You have to really soop up a normal car engine for this to happen on a normal car.

In my own opinion AEM offers the best intake for the price. It also offers the best horsepower,torque and acceleration gains throughout the powerband. they also offer excellent instalation guides and the proper sensors and hoses your going to need for a complete install.

The reason being is that the exhaust not only releases gases and vapors but humidity as well. That is the reason why at times u notice it sweating.

Could be a diesel? If not then replace your oxygen sensor on your exhaust. A bad oxygen sensor causes the exhaust smoke to be dark in color.

Yes it will because the air has more place to go out. Also you could fit a bigger exhaust. If you used the D.I.Y mathod it is illegal, but if you got a tuning company to do it, it is legal.

Coolant is getting into the combustion chamber. Sounds like a head gasket problem.

metallic tapping that becomes faster as the engine speed increases indicates valve tapping. one or more of your valves clearances are misadjusted. to help you find out which one it is cut a small section of hose, put one end to your ear and place the other end on different spots along the rocker arm cover, where the sound is loudest is where the problem valve is. purchase a repair manual for your car for valve clearances and specific valve adjustment procedures.

spray the pipe threads with a penatrating spray, if it wont screw out, then use a old screw driver to colapes the pipe, make a vee into it, next to the head,

then it will loosen,

Valve operation:

The valves are generally powered by an electronic actuator, which activates (opens) at a certain engine RPM, ideally the actuator would be tuned to operate the valve continuously over the entire rev range, with the valve blocking the flow at low rpm, and opening up to allow free flow of exhaust gases at high rpm.

Why it works?

The 4 stroke exhaust powervalve increases backpressure, depending on engine configuration this may be to reduce inlet charge flowing out of the cylinder on engines with large valve overlap (both inlet and exhaust valves open). This is just an opinion, im not an expert on the subject. But i am awesome.

The best increase is realised from taking a three pronged approach. First, take said three pronged fork and put the handle up the exhaust and beat it in circles to try and damage the baffles as much as possible. Second, remove all exhaust mounts so the muffler drags along the road surface, guaranteeing an incredibly loud noise. Normally a blocked catalytic converter or a blocked exhaust will cause that problem.

An intermediate exhaust pipe generally refers to the pipe that comes directly off of the manifold, and to which the catalytic converter, or mid-tail pipe section is bolted /welded too. On newer cars and trucks, the intermediate pipe sometimes has a bendable section that looks like a scaled up version of a braided tube.

If you mileage has dropped dramaticly in a short span of time there is one very probable answer. The thermostat to you engines cooling system may have puller through into the engine itself, or simply be in need of a replacement. With no thermostat the coolant is constantly circulating the engine. It is supposed to only do this at a higher temperature but if the engine is constantly cold it will be running a rich mixture of fuel, causeing the mileage to be extremley poor. This thermostat should not be an expensive fix and i would suggest looking into the situation as I have seen it before.

Not having anymore info. other than it was in a rollover, the engine head could be cracked and allowing coolant to get into the combustion chamber which could explain smoking at start up and after the engine is warm. Check your coolant tank for any oil residue - if there is oil in the tank, you've got a engine head problem and your best bet is to get a new head after verifing that the block isn't also damaged.

If fuel injected, yes. Plus it is illegal.

There are many places where one can get a performance exhaust system installed. One can get a performance exhaust system installed at places such as Dynomax.

For steam to come out the exhaust you probably have a bad head gasket or a cracked head. If the turbo had an oil seal fail it would cause blue smoke to come out the exhaust.

high miles, try going to auto zone and getting some stop smoke, it's an oil aditive

I don't know if this is your trouble, but I had the same situation or similar.It was explained to me that the exhaust manifold on maxima's have a tendency to heat up and warp; separating them from the engine exhaust ports and the bolt breaks. I think you need to replace the exhaust manifold. It is a bit expensive having a professional do the job. Well worth the cash. At least to me.
