Have you checked the Alternator? Like most batterys in cars, trucks, ect, they tend to get dirty. A slow battery drain is more than likely caused by a short between your +/- posts. To check this, attach one lead of a low volt meter the + post of the battery, and then draw the other lead across the top of the battery. If the meter shows any voltage at all, that's the problem. Wash the battery with a mixture of backing powder & water, and rinse. Dry the area between the posts & check with the meter again. Yep, there are no hints given in the owner's manual.....but somehow I asked this question at the Dealer's service department when the car was new and wrote it down in my manual. The answer is that you press the "Engine Data" button until the display panel shows "Oil Life." Hold this and then simultaneously press "GAGE" for up to 5 seconds...and it will reset to "100%" You may have to try this a couple of times to get the right sequence, but it has worked for me for 17 years!! There is a fuel pump test wire under the hood on the drivers side , laying between the strut tower and the anti lock brake mechanism. it has a green terminal end on it... run a wire to it from the positive battery terminal and plug it in... take the fuel cap off and listen for the pump to run inside the gas tank.. (you can stick a hose in the fuel tank and put the other end in your ear to hear it)... once the wire is plugged in it will run until you unplug it. If you don't hear it make sure the wire is making contact at the test wire. if you still don't hear it you need a new fuel pump. this procedure bypasses all the fuel relays. it is an expensive job to replace the fuel pump... Actually...The front speakers are 5 1/4" 4 Ohm speakers and the tweeters are .6" 4 ohm tweeters. Door speakers are easy to replace, but the tweeters are impossible to find the size.
Rears are 10 ohm 6 x 9" Ovals. Good luck finding 10ohm though...Can't be found.
I have not yet changed the back speakers, but the front speakers are 6 inch speakers. The stock speakers are 4 ohm. Im not sure about the tweeters and rear speakers. Just pull them out and look at the back.

Front brake shoes have longer (pad) of braking material than rear brake shoes do but are the same part otherwise so you might try using front pads on all four wheels-other than that I don't know and I assume that GM could not figure it out either because none of the first generation toronados have good drum brakes when you need them especially at high speeds-the seem to fade when they get hot

Usually a starting problem that is as specific as the one you describe will be related to the high voltage ignition. Check the distributor cap, coil wire, rotor and plug wires. When you pull the distributor cap, look for evidence of arcing along the inside of the cap. Sometimes a set of plug wires will solve a problem like that. Often the extra humidity and condensate associated with a rainstorm can cause arcing of the high voltage that is SUPPOSED to fire the sparkplugs. If the high voltage takes a different path to ground, you will have nothing for the plugs. A small hole in the plug wires or some extra moisture on the inside of the distributor cap can certainly cause the problem you describe. Good luck.
