Explain the role that colonial assemblers played in the American protest of british policies after 1763?

In all but two colonies, Connecticut and Rhode Island, King George III appointed the governor. However, the assemblies paid the governors salaries and the salaries of the bureaucrats. King George III sold the right to collect taxes. His tax collectors could add whatever commission they wanted. They could break into houses to collect whatever taxes they considered due. It was legal strong armed robbery. King George quartered solders in empty buildings. The solders decided which buildings were empty. A number of empty buildings had people living in them. However, the colonial assemblies had control of the budgets. The local governors and sheriffs could control King George's thugs.

In 1773 King George started paying the bureaucrats directly from England. That ended the possibility of any reason for the Governors to listen to the assemblies. In 1774 Indian wars broke out on the western frontier. In 1775 War broke out in Massachusetts.

During that period, the colonial assemblies fought with the governors to be in control of the states. The assemblies sent representatives to the continental congress. The governors opposed that move.

What happen in Chicago during the 1968 race riot?

First of all it was not strictly speaking a Race riot. it was politically motivated by such subversives as the Youth International Party- or Yippies also called Yipsters. a cogent but somewhat obscene ( curses are transcribed) book has been written fairy objective in tone, about these riots. The tome is called Rights in Conflict and it refers to the uprising as the Chicago ( Police riot)- not race riot. If you have a strong stomach, read the book. portions are unintentionally funny with much rough language.

Type your answer here... On the First of February 1960, four black students walked into the woolworths shopping centre in Greensboro, North Carolina intent on going to the white only bar in protest to segregated bars, restaurants and cafes. Quickly this protest caught on and all across the country black people began participating in things known as 'Sit Ins' where by the black Americans would occupy all the seats in the restaurant and take it in turns to make sure that no white person was able to sit down in that seat. Do you agree with the position that anti-war protests are acts of disloyalty do you feel the same way about the anti-Iraq war protests during George w Bush presidency?

As this is an opinion question, you will likely have several opinions.

Answer 1

No. Anti-War Protests are actually a supreme act of loyalty to the people and the ideals of nation in which the people are protesting. It is puzzling to me why it is that those who would rather harm our sons and daughters and destroy the lives of someone else's sons and daughters are considered more loyal and more patriotic than those who rather negotiate and save lives. Of course, there are some instances where war is inevitable, but even so, it is certainly an act loyal to the country to prevent a longer engagement than necessary and to push the leaders to seek a truce.
