Set the timing 1974 beetle vw?
It must be done with a timing light. There are two ways you can do this, and it all depends on which pulley you have. First, hook up the timing light--red wire to the positive side of your ignition coil (nothing magical about using the coil, except it's a handy place to pull 12 volts from), black wire to a ground, inductive pickup clamped around your number-one spark plug wire. Get a 10mm nutdriver. Make sure you're not wearing any loose clothing. Take the car out of gear, set the brake, chock the wheels and start the engine. Go back there and hold your distributor in the left hand, the nutdriver in the right and loosen the distributor clamp. Put down the nutdriver, pick up the timing light, point it at the crank pulley and pull the trigger. If you have a stock pulley: there's a notch filed in it. Turn the distributor until it aligns with the seam in the engine case. If you have a "degree wheel" pulley--one with a protractor painted on it--the line five degrees to the left of the Top Dead Center line aligns with the seam in the engine case. Set the timing light down, pick up the nutdriver and tighten the distributor clamp. Now for the important part: On the side of your carburetor is the throttle arm. Pull it back toward you about half an inch and listen to your engine. If it accelerated smoothly, the engine's timed. If it kinda bogged down, you'll have to adjust the timing a bit. Volkswagen probably built 50 million of these engines, and every one of them times differently.

Where could you findprint a wiring diagram for a 98 VW Beetle TDI?
Haynes or Bentley Manual, available at most autoparts stores or the dealer parts counter.
check your battery post terminals for good clean connection. If no problem there then you might have a bad generator. Your generator might not be charging your battery. If you installed a new battery and ran your bug all day chances are that your engine was running off of the battery which was not being recharged by your generator. As soon as you turned off your engine and tried to re-start it, your battery did not have enough juice to crank the engine over. Good luck.

Where is the VIN on a 1964 VW beetle?
The VIN number is the same as the Chassis number. For a 1964 it should be located underneath that Back seat. Its the main Metal part that is directly in the middle of where the seat sits. You might have to clean the area, but it will have the Chassis number on it. It will be a 7 digit number.
Where is the fuse location chart on a 1999 VW Beetle?
The fuse compartment is located at the end of the dashboard (driver's side). When you open the driver door you will see a removable panel on the end of the dash. Open the panel and on the inside of the panel you will find a fuse chart as well a nifty little tool used to pull the fuses out (and put them back in). The chart has little symbols indicating what they are for. Some are pretty easy to identify, others, not so easy. If you have the owners manual, there probably is a section explaining the different symbols. Good Luck !
P1441 Evaporative Emission System Flow During Non-Purge. P1621 PCM Memory Performance Take this car to a professional as this is going to take some skill and knowledge to repair. Do not throw parts at the problem. here's where you can find out what the codes mean; http://autorepair.about.com/cs/troubleshooting/l/bl_obd_main.htm This is interesting. I assume the original poster's warning lights were on, but can there be issues for which a code is generated but nothing lights up on the dashboard? I think I'm using a lot of gas in my 2003 2.2L but I don't have any warning lights on. Phil I think the two codes being returned have a system in common - the vacuum system/Evaporative recovery system. Evap. (vapor cannister) code MAY be as a result of excessive fuel flow into the cylinders overloading the cannister's capacity. Possible cause is a failing Oxygen sensor giving a "Lean" indication to the engine computer, causing more fuel than is needed to be injected into the cylinders and captured by the vapor system. Trying to keep track of the changing readings may be taxing the computer's memory. Have the oxygen sensor checked. If it is functioning correctly, check for vacuum leaks, cracked or broken vacuum hoses.

On most New Beetles, the fuse panel is on the side of the dash board, accessable only after opening the drivers door. A sticker indicating which fuse goes to which function, as well as a fuse remover, are located inside of the fuse panel door. Opening the door can be accomplished with a screwdriver, one is provided with the toolkit in the spare tire, or a key. Consult the owner's manual if the fuse panel is not in this location.
How do you replace the horn on a '99 Chevy Malibu?
Keep it simple, check the horn fuse, if good remove horn relay & briefly connect the #86 & #30 (12V+ to horn), If horns blow then swap relay with Daytime running lights. Note the relay position when you remove them cause GM reverses some of the relays.
If horn still doesn't work then its probably the horn switch on the air bag cover. $400+ repair.
