Where is the thermostat located on a 2001 VW Cabrio?

If you climb under the car you will see it a little to the right of center. In order to change it you need to drop down the power steering housing. I just tried to replace mine and it was a chore - I ended up towing it to my car guy who told me after that the probability of me doing it was slim - he even said it was a pain to do. It's the car- everything on the 01 is PITA

Where is the cruise control fuse for a 2001 VW cabrio?

There isn't one, I have cruise problems too, friend said cruise module behind or above fuse panel may be out, he said if turning signals work it's probably not the on/of cruise switch. VW dealer wants 150 just to see it so planning to sell it.

What glue do you use to repair the seams in my convertible cloth top?

I have a 1990 C4 Vert with original vinyl top. Due to pressure and stress, the back corner areas at rear posts came unglued. Prepping the area under the vinyl on the metal frame first with 000 fine steel wool, then mineral spirits and a mild soap and water and lint free micro fiber towel. Then I unlatched the front of the top to relieve stress and used Rhino Glue as instructed. It set in less than a minute. I left it as it was overnight and in the morning I fit the top closed all around. It worked perfect. Four months latter and it hasn't given a cm. Great product. I highly recommend.

To replace the valve cover gasket on a 1997 VW Cabrio, first, disconnect the negative battery terminal and remove any components obstructing access to the valve cover, such as the air intake or ignition coils. Finally, reconnect any removed components and the battery terminal.

What are the signs of a bad fuel pump in a Volkswagen Cabrio?

I had a '99 cabrio that had a bad fuel pump. because the fuel pump is an electrical motor, and from my experience, if the pump is bad the engine won't start at all. I had gunk in my gas tank that seized up the motor quite easily. If you have problems with acceleration or maintaining high r.p.m.s, or if the engine sputters or has poor power, you might have a clogged fuel filter.

How do you put the top down in a 1999 VW Cabrio?

For my automatic top all you have to do is put the keys in, make sure the car is in park, and that the emergency brake is on. You hold the bottom of the button for the power top on the dash. I dont have to have the brake pedal down.

What is a popping noise in the front end of a Volkswagen cabrio?

I had this problem after an accident (i was not at fault). The 'pop' usually happens if I break hard for a light, or take off quickly from a stop.

I was told it was the shock mount. Had it relplaced at sears for $70, sound went away.

Why is the tail running and dash lights not working on a 96 vw cabrio?

I had this problem with a '92 Saturn and it was because i blew a fuse. I am not sure which fuse it was as it was about 6 yrs ago, but you should check your fuses and see if any are blown. I know it sounds rediculous that the tail running lights and the dash lights are connected by the same fuse. Sorry I cannot give you a more detailed answer

How do you reset the radio on a 1997 vw cabrio?

How do you remove an interior door panel on a 1998 Cabrio?

Just did it two hours ago. Followed the directions in the Haynes Service Manual. No problem. Remove triangular cover inside of the rear view door mounted mirror. It pulls straight out. The inside door handle is in two pieces. The cover piece must be pried off. Take care, don't use too much pressure and take your time. I used a flat wedge made from Plexiglas to reduce damage to the plastic parts. Behind the door handle cover there are two Phillips head screws that must be removed. The door lock knob must be removed. The door mounted speaker grill must be pried off. Again care must be exercised to prevent damage. The four Phillips head screws holding the door speaker must be removed. Lastly there are six Allen socket head screws along the panel edges that must be removed with a 1.5mm Allen wrench. the door panel should just about fall off being held by the various electrics which unplug with care and the door lock release which is easily broken if forced. Good Luck
