How can you enter your locked 1998 Aurora when the key nor the remote will work?
I hope that answer - "use a rock or brick" - was supposed to be a joke. You're telling someone to break a window that will cost almost $1000 (parts & labor) to replace, just to avoid paying a locksmith $75 to open the vehicle? Lubricate the lock liberally, for starters. When people use the remote exclusively for unlocking the car, the grease in the unused locks hardens up from lack of use and the lock wafers won't work properly otherwise. Work the key in and out several times to loosen up the grease and then try to turn the key. If the remote stopped working, replace the battery. The two halves of the remote will pry apart like a clamshell and reveal a disc battery (probably a 2032) that costs about $3. Radio Shack will replace it for you for a small sum. If you lost the key altogether, a locksmith can make a new first key for about $250. It's more expensive because the key has a chip in it that the vehicle's onboard security system must see to allow it to start. Don't whine about the price, either - it wasn't the locksmith who lost the key! A dealer can make a new first key, too, of course; expect to pay about $400.

How do you open stuck glove box?
You can use a screw driver to help pull open a stuck glove box. Once it is open spray the hinges with a degreaser to help prevent it from sticking again.
I would pull the door panel off and then actuate the lock; chances are you just have some linkage that is binding within the door. I hope this helps you. Mark
How do you replace the headlight bulb located on a 2003 Vauxhall Vectra 2.2dti?
Having just completed this exercise on a 2.5 V6 97 Vectra I would like to add the following tips. The bulbs are little devils to get hold off due to the lack of space and light inside the bonnet. So when dealing with the main beam pull out the side bulb and turn on the side lights. This will give you some light in the tight space. Before you undo the spring clip, attach a piece of fairly rigid plastic tubing (about 6 inches long) to the bulbs terminal. Make sure that the tubing is a firm fit, then undo the clip and withdraw the bulb using the plastic tube. This should insure that you don't drop the bulb into the headlamp cover or the car's floor pan like I did. Also notice which way around the bulb is located i.e.: the bulb flange is "D" shaped and can only be fitted one way round. Use the plastic tube to grip the terminal of the new bulb and guide it into the bulb's headlamp slot. Make sure that the flange is located correctly with your fingers, and then apply firm pressure to the tube to hold the bulb in place and relocate the spring clip one side at a time. The covers on the back of my headlights were just made of rubber and just pulled off rather than screwed. The job is awkward and more touchy feely than seeing what you are doing, but it two bulbs can be changed in under an hour
This varies slightly depending on what side you are changing. i.e off side or near side.
If changing near side( side where battery is located) you firstly have to remove the fuse box which is fastened onto the battery carriage by sliding it upwards. This will give you easier access.
Next remove the plastic cover that is covering the back of the headlamp by turning it anti clockwise. You should now see the back of the headlamp which has a two pin plug connector attached to it which simply pulls off.
To remove the bulb itself you will have to remove a small spring clip which holds it by pushing it towards the front of the vehicle and then push it to your right this should then fall away and let you remove the bulb.
When fitting the new bulb it is just the reversal of the above only it can be a little tricky trying to lock the spring clip back into place. A small mirror would help if you have one.
Also take care not to touch the glass on the new bulb as this will damage it.
.
Or just take the car to your Local dealer. A good Vauxhall dealer will replace them only charging for the bulb, just like I do.
How much hp does a gti 1.8t have?
Depends which version!
The 1.8T was supplied on the Golf GTI as either a 150BHP or a 180BHP you can tell these appart from the badging. If the I in GTI is red then it is the 150BHP version. The 180BHP version is the Aniversary edition and has a different bodykit all together.
Boosted96GSX's Response:
Not all of the above is true... The badging is a bad way of telling what power you will get. It is dependent by the year of the car. 2000-2001 had 150hp motors while anything past that had the 180hp motors. Boost was turned up to about 11.6psi from 8.7psi and a slightly different turbo was used.
How do you open trunk on a 2003 gti golf?
Press on the upper half of the VW badge on the trunk (or boot for European users). This will expose the lock mechanism and open the hatch if the vehicle is already unlocked.
How do you reset the oil service light manually on a 2000 BMW 323 E46?
Found this on another site. It worked on my E46 2002 Compact.
BMW 2001 to current Ignition Off (Position 0) Press and Hold the trip odometer button while turning key to position 1 (ACCESSORY) Keep the button depressed (about 5 secs.) until you see "Oil Service" or "Inspection" with "Reset" or "Re" in the display* Press the button again and hold for approx. 5 secs. until "Reset" or "Re" flashes While the display is flashing, briefly press the button again to reset the Service Interval. After the display has shown the new interval you should see "END SIA" for about 2 seconds Note: that if the "Reset" or "Re" does not flash, then you have not met the minimum consumption level and cannot reset
if its injection then the best way is to remove the fuel line at the engine and add a longer pipe to it so it clears the car catch it with wotever you are going to use turn the ignition on (not starting position) and let the pump do the work of draining the car.

Q:
What does GTI, GLI and so on mean?
A: Eroupian and North American
L = Luxe (base model)
LS = Luxe Special, couple more do-dads
GT = Grand Tourisme, better equipped & usually a larger engine than the "L" series
GL = Grand Luxe (geared for more luxury), basically == GT
GTI/GLI = Originally, the fuel injected version of a GT/GL which means it
produced a lot more power. With most cars FI, the GTI/GLI
designation means a more powerful engine than a GT/GL model,
sometimes also with a better suspension and brake systems.
GLI != Jetta, as the case in the USA.
SL = Serie Limite' (limited series), like the Karmann series in US.
Really a variation on a GT.
GTX = Same as GTI but used in Europe and elsewhere.
G40/60 = GT version with VWs G-type supercharger. The number is the width
of the G-charger (lader in D) coil in millimeters. For those who
aren't aware, the G40 is used on some Polos, the G60 on Passats
and Corrados.
VR6 = Cars based on the new staggered 6 cylinder engine (in-line-V-6).
SLC = Sport Luxury Coupe, the VR6 equipped Corrado in the US.
Syncro = VWs version 4WD distributes its torque with a "visco-gear"
(It's a special silicone gel that stiffens if the relative
motion (shear) increases)d
VWs 4WD is designed by Steyr-Puch, an Austrian Company and not
by Audi.
Originally, all European VWs were carbureted, except those with the "I" or
"i" and a few rare cases with an "E" for "einspritz", designation which had
a more powerful fuel injected engine, a "GT" set-up, and some more sporty
equipment (suspension, gauges).
In the US, VW switched over to FI around 78, and in Europe a bit later
(with mono-throttle FI) which meant that all cars really counted as "I"
models.
GTI/GLI now just means that the car has a more powerful engine and a
sportier set-up.
Just in case your curious.
VW= Volkswage, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Bugatti, Lamborghini, and Bentley
The company owns seven brands, which are organized into two groups or branches.
The Audi branch consists of
Audi
Lamborghini
SEAT
The Volkswagen branch consists of
Volkswagen
Bentley
Škoda
Bugatti
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles
These brands have been discontinued by VW:
Auto Union
DKW
Horch
NSU
Wanderer
Porsche now owns ~20% of VW iirc
What is the lifespan of a 2003 VW Jetta TDI?
I have seen reports of 250,000+
I junked mine today at 138k. Cracked cylinder wall, allowing coolant to enter into combustion chamber. Shame, was a lot of life left in the car, but a rebuild was too much for what that car's worth...Undecided if I'll buy another, still have 2010 TDI.
The answer depends upon which ECU your vehicle has.
One ECU type ( 32 bit ) is programmed via the OBD-II port, and ECU RESET, KEYS DELETED, KEYS ADDED etc. Locksmiths will have one of 3 diagnostic tools necessary for this task, along with the needed RFID chip keys.
The other type ( 16 bit ) has no OBD-II Path to the security modes on the ECU and must be REFLASHED. IT need not be replaced due to lost keys. If you STILL HAVE A MASTER KEY, the programming of additional keys one one of the two types is done on-board, and without diagnostic equipment.
SOME dealerships will do the reflash on the 16 bit ECU, but many will tell you you MUST buy a new ECU.
A good locksmith can do the job efficiently, often onsite, with more options than a dealer might offer.
I think it needs a nose job, a.k.a., rhinoplasty.
Try contacting the dealer they maybe able to use your VIN# and get you a new remote.
Try unlocking the doors and trunk with the key.
I have a Golf GTI 16V KR Engine
