The engine doesn't make force constantly, but only when the pistons have explosions on their respective chamber... so there are power-spikes = vibration.

This dual mass flywheel, uses an intermediate piece with some strong springs that smooth out the vibrations of the engine and gears, giving a more constant flow of power to the wheels.

There is a fuse for the air conditioner and one for the fan. You have a power source to the fuse. From the fuse the relay gets it's power and then the fan and or the air conditioner compressor.

To remove the engine cover on an Aerostar, first remove the two screws that hold the "black box" to the underside of the dash, below the ahstray. it is NOT necessary to unplug it! If there is a cup holder, remove the screw holding it and pull the rear up, until the friction fasteners let go. There are three latches, two on the right, one on the left. Release and clear the latches, move the cover down and rearward.

You only need a pair of the special "radio removal tools" for that car. Most audio/ electronics shops will carry them. They look like a very thin piece of metal--about 1cm wide with a notch on the top and bottom as you hold it vertically. Each will fit into the small vertical slot on either side of your Preset buttons. Slide in, hear it click into place, and simply pull out. Then you unplug the power and signal cords from the back (2 plugs, very obvious). (If your radio still works, I'm looking for one, lmk!)

Loosen the alternator tensioner bolt. You will be able to slide the alternator either way to adjust the tension on the belt.

I mistakenly filled my Beetle tank last night with 13 gallons of BP Ultimate and drove half a mile until my Beetle stopped running. After calling several shops and being told only the dealer can fix it, I followed the advice I found here and fixed it myself.

I siphoned the tank (access under the back seat), removed and drained the fuel pump, replaced the fuel filter, filled the filter with diesel fuel and about an ounce of 2 cycle oil and it started right up and runs like it never happened.

I did not drop the tank and I did not blow out the fuel lines. Hardest part was figuring out how to get the fuel lines off the fuel pump at the tank - find the button on the pump/tank end of the fitting, squeeze the button and lift - the fuel line pops right off the top of the pump.

It wasn't fun. It was messy as hell. Gas smell in the car probably for awhile. Took a couple of hours. But extremely satisfying to fix it myself for about $30.

Maybe I was lucky (one shop told me "we did a Jetta a while back and couldn't get it to run and had to have it towed to the dealer"). I did it and you can too. Mis-fueling a VW TDI is not fatal and won't cost an arm and a leg to fix.

Its good to notice right away (no acceleration, major loss of power) and shut it down before damage is done to the injector pump. These TDIs run like watches, so when they don't its obvious something is wrong - shut it down asap!

The simplest way of pressing the brake disk calliper piston back to make space for the new pads is to use a G clamp that will reach inside the calliper unit when the pads are removed. It will neeed to open at least 5cm to fit. The esembly must be free at least at one end. Make sure you also remove the thin cover off the piston befor inserting the clamp. Fit the clamp with the screw end in the now open piston and wind in slowly with the clamp centralised. The piston should then simply slide back stop when resistance is felt.

but if its a gti they screw back which you will need a special tool or like me i used a good set of lockons and turned them back that way.

Lower the tailgate. Remove the two screws on the inside to the side of the lamp assembly with an torx wrench. The tail lamp assembly will pop out. Remove the four screws on the backside of the tail lamp with a Phillips head screwdriver. You now have access to the bulbs.

Whenever performing routine maintenance (oil change, filters etc.) you should follow the instructions in the owners manual for clearing the oil change indicator. Some vehicles use a "service engine soon" light to indicate that there has been a minor problem encountered and that the vehicle should be taken to the dealership for service. In those circumstances I would suggest going to a local do-it-yourself auto parts store to see if there is a code reader that you can rent/borrow. If the computer has stored a fault code, you should be able to read the code to determine what is wrong. So basically there are two reasons for a service due light to be on and I can't tell you which it is without looking through your operators manual.

Go to Advance Auto Parts and purchase 2 cans of Seafoam FI cleaner. Follow directions on can. Use both cans in 2 tanks of fuel. Excellent FI cleaner. Techron is also very good if you can't find Seafoam.

Engine number will be located bottom right hand corner of windscreen (external) i.e. below tax disc and also there should be a metal plate near bonnet catch.

I've had that same problem with my XJ-6. First, I found the spark plugs and wires didn't do it. Please do this, "REPLACE your AIR METER/MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR". This one part does burn out from time to time. You'll be happy. Surf the web and get the best deal. You'll save more than 60% from what a dealer would charge. Easy to replace!
