Mercury cougar transmission wont shift into reverse?

It's probably the valve body or the clutch packs. It doesn't really mattter since either way you'll be buying or rebuilding a transmission.

Are u using manual or automatic transmission? Make sure if it's a manual, that you are pulling up on the spring for the reverse lockout. You didn't specify and not sure if you just bought the car. Took me a little while to figure it out too lol. -Drives3pedals

How do you replace a front fog lamp bulb in a 2005 vauxhall Corsa?

You need to go underneath to access a round hatch that twists off. You can see the fixing springs. However, DO NOT let the bulb housing/lamp come away as it is impossible to get back in as access is less that helpful. I am now running around with the lamp rattling around in the housing. In short, DO NOT ATTEMPT IT!

How do you remove the headlight lens on a 2002 vw beetle?

Removal of Headlight lens requires a special tool to release the snaps located on the inner body rim. The first time I tried it (without the tool) I broke the snaps and had to replace the entire assembly.

Remember the lens assembly has to be waterproof/weather resistant, so any cracks will lead to failure of the headlight element.

My advice (if this is your first change) is to take it to the dealer and hover over the mechanic, asks multiple questions and go find the tool to purchase.

Believe me, it's worth the money and eliminates the aggravation of dealing with an impossible front end design.

Does a vw have a voltage regulator on a 1970?

Look under the back seat, on the other side of the car from the battery. That's where VW put it at the factory. If you have a Motorola alternator, it's a little silver box. If you have a Bosch, or a generator, it's a black box.

What does it take to put a 1600cc Bug engine into a 1968-71 Bay Window bus?

It depends where or not the case has the hanger mounts at the bottom of the case, for the hanger bolts [universal case ] you can get an adapter that runs of the oil pump ,you will have to use the front tin wear with heater pipe holes from the kombi and the back tin behind the fan which clips over the back of the case ,this allows you to fit the big rubber seal which should run around inside the engine compartment Its very do able just need to keep an eye on the adapter bolts periodally

cheers

It's on the nose of the transmission. There's a frame rail under it, which makes getting to it entertaining.

How do you change the driver side headlamp bulb on a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle?

Well. The 1st time I had this on mine, it took 5 VW bods 45 minutes! If you look in the user handbok it explains how to do it, but if it's the 1st time it's been changed then I expect the slide catch that releases the lamp unit will be stuck! Dab some 3 in 1 oil or WD40 around the release catch (bearing in mind you are going from the users hand book to see whats involved)

You may be able to push the headlamp unit out, but the outer rubber seal may be stuck, so ease it free with a blunt blade. Thumb rule is to watch how it comes out, as you'll need to remember this when you pop it back in.

Once you have released the unit, the bulb san be changed via a push & release bulb holder within the unit, but be carefull not to touch the bulb if its a halagon bulb as it may explode (hold it with a tissue or lint free cloth)

Ease the headlight unit back into place, with a bit of trial & error! This job is best to be done in good day light.....

My best advice & one I have given to other people who have stopped me in car parks and asked the same question, is to go into a VW garage (not main dealer) and ask them to show you, while you wave some hard cash under their nose......

What would cause gas gauge and speedometer to quit working on your '95 Plymouth Neon?

sounds like you instrument cluster is acting up. You can either try to get one out of the junk yard or fix the one you have. It's really simple if you've got the right tools and have patients. First you need a Philips head screwdriver, and a soldering iron you may need extra solder but not always. Take the instrument cluster out. Not that hard. Just put your hands on the steering wheel at 10 and 2 like in drivers ed. Now slide them off the wheel towards the little lip of the dash that shades the cluster. Now push up, not real hard no need to punch the windshield there are just some spring loaded clips that hold the front of the dash. Once the clips are un done slide the dash forward to get the mounting tabs out of the slots at the back and set it aside. Now if you look at the cluster the are either 1 or 2 screws per side holding it in. Just undo those (a screw driver with a magnetic tips helps here) and pull the cluster out the plug will come undone on their own. If you look at the back of the cluster the 2 black plugs on the bottom are what is giving you trouble. Sometimes the solder joints there from the factory go bad (happened to 3 neons in the family so far). T get where you need to fix you need to get to the back of the printed circuit board (green board). take off the black crad board potective cover. Then the rest of the screws in the back are for the board. If I remember right there is also one 3 wire plug(clear plug grey wires) to undo for the speedo module itself. Turn board over and with a hot soldering iron touch each end of the pins that where in those 2 plugs. You may need some more solder for some of them but use VERY little as you don't want to make contact with any other terminals. I also looked over the rest of the terminals on the other cars. On mine I did the same steps to the spingloaded terminals that slide around the gauge posts, use you best judgment. That's it. It reads alot harder than it actually is. By the 3rd time I could do it faster than what I just typed here. Too bad you don't live in Vegas I could do it for you in about 10 20 minutes. Seriously it's not that much harder than putting in a car stereo. Just take your time.

Additional info. - Thanks to Vegas person! I was going to spend $30. for a used one at the salvage yard, but I tried your re-solder the pins fix and it worked great!!! I did not add any solder, just touched each pin with a hot soldering iron to reflow the original solder.

Re- Glad to help. Reads a little scary and when you flip the cluster around you might have second thoughts but it's really simple. Trust me. It's hard to mess up a board like that.

Can you tow your 2002 VW Beetle behind by motor home?

you can tow your 2002 vw beetle behind your motor home on a car dolly with the front tires off the ground which is the best way to tow it since it is a front wheel drive car, however you you decide to tow it with all wheels on the ground the you would neet to have a flueid pump installed on the transmition otherwise you stand a big chance of burning up your trans because there is no fluids being pumed. consult you local motor hme dealer and they can order the parts that you need to pull the beetle on all four wheels you can tow your 2002 vw beetle behind your motor home on a car dolly with the front tires off the ground which is the best way to tow it since it is a front wheel drive car, however you you decide to tow it with all wheels on the ground the you would neet to have a flueid pump installed on the transmition otherwise you stand a big chance of burning up your trans because there is no fluids being pumed. consult you local motor hme dealer and they can order the parts that you need to pull the beetle on all four wheels

How do you change the cabin air filter on a 2002 VW Beetle?

I just changed the cabin filter in my '02 Beetle so can add to this answer.

The filter is located under the passenger side of the dash and is moderately difficult to access and change. My old filter was black so am glad I invested the 2 hours to figure it out, though.

To remove the passenger side section of the dash it's first necessary to remove the raised center section, which requires sliding it towards the windshield. I did this by positioning the corner of one end of a small block of wood in the gap and gently tapping the other end with a hammer. Once loose it can be slid forward and lifted out of the way.

Next remove the torx screws and funny washers nearest the windshield. The passenger side dash can then be detached by slowly lifting the left side of it straight up and then sliding it to the left. After disconnecting the speaker lead this section of the dash can be moved out of the way.

Still another layer of plastic to take out: remove the 5 torx screws (2 forward, 3 aft) and jiggle the plate loose to expose the filter assembly.

To get the filter out push the tabs of the frame slightly forward, lift the frame up, and pull it towards you. With some jiggling the frame + filter will come out.

A couple of notes about installing the new filter: the arrows on the filter that indicate air flow should be pointing down when installed; the left and right sides of the frame extend down into the first and last pleats of the filter for proper positioning; the filter should be in the frame before placing it in the dash; it can take some finesse to properly position the filter and snap the frame in place; replacement filters can be purchased at a NAPA store, or online at www.micronair.us if you prefer OEM.

I took pictures along the way but couldn't figure out to attach them to this posting.

Best of luck!

It is located on your dash board above the radio remove it ,cabin air filter is there i hope that helps.
