I have to replace my brake booster on my 99 vw beetle elite. I need the instructions on how to do this. Any ideas. Thanks

Remove the glove box complete assembly and center switch panel. Remove the radio (special VW tool needed here), flower vase & trim, right dash handle left trim, and then center panel. Note : on top of dash center panel extension pushes toward the windscreen to reveal two additional screws that need to be removed. You can now get at heater panel screws (4) in front of panel. Disconnect wires and controll cables before removing panel.

Either pull out the relay or cut the wires going to the horn. The horn is located at the front passenger side of the bumper.

Wait for engine to cool down, then open the blue lid on the coolant reservoir on the left side of the engine compartment. Next, fill no higher than the FULL mark on the side of the reservoir. Don't get this confused with the windshield wiper fluid container (the one you want is spherical). Also, find out where your coolant went, and why its low.

You need to find out first if your Sharan has dual units or single, if it has a rear unit then it will be under the interior trim by n/s/r wheel arch. Under the bonnet there is a sticker under the giving quantity of refrigerant required.

If you're looking to repair the tranny and you do not have a shop with tools and experience do not bother. Trade the core in for a rebuilt unit , reinstall and drive. cracking open a tranny is not for the inexperienced.

Hi~ Disconnect the battery FIRST!! Remove the 17mm nut from the upper right engine bolt near the # 1 spark plug...now scooch under the right side the bug and look up, you'll see another 17mm nut~ remove that, on top of the solenoid you'll see a 13 mm nut holding a big red wire..remove the nut..pull off the push connector on the solenoid, give the starter a tug but be CAREFUL, that sucker is HEAVY AS LEAD..don't drop it on your face!! That's it!

Busbones.com has a partial how to do vw headliner install. Last 2 parts unavailable but lots of info. First you have to buy a good quality headliner. A few common handtools will come in handy. at this point you should also order new rubber seals for the front, rear and both quarter windows. The windows have to be removed in order to replace the headliner. The primary tool used will be a short blade putty knife (I used a bench grinder to dull the blade on mine so it would not cut the headliner fabric) which is used to tuck the fabric into the tabs that hold it in. There are steel rods called bows that fit through sleeves sewn into the headliner, these fit into tracks on the sides of the car's roof. The bows create the domed look of the headliner. You can start from the front or the back using clothes pins to hold the headliner in place so you can get things organized. You will have to pull the headliner tight and even so you do not have wrinckles. I used regular contact cement on my headliner and it worked great but you can use other types of adhesive if you want. After getting the headliner stretched front to rear you start on the sides. It is just about impossible to explain how to attache the sides, the best thing to do is to remove a headliner and pay attention to how it was installed. When you start take your time, getting in a hurry will only cause you to lower your quality standards and you will regret it later.

my brother and I used a hole saw and drilled thru the wheelwell. He had to heat the bolts with a mapp gas torch. But it worked. john

Pull the headliner and access in the middle of the car behind the sunroof. Or if you want just the antenna, not the cable-to-the-antenna, stand outside the car and unscrew it. very carefully

I have a 2000 beetle and the A/C has broken twice. The fuse panel on the beetle is located on the driver side dash board and is inaccesable until you open the driver side door. The legend inside is a picture legend which should direct you to the correct fuse.

The A/C is dependent upon a relay. On the 2000 beetle it is located under the battery. You can see it by looking under the battery from the bottom of the car after you remove the shroud. These relays are a common problem with the car. I have heard people say that the system is dependent upon the relay so long as the system has pressure. To test pressure you can either buy/borrow a R-134 gage set and check or some people just remove the cap from the high pressure test port and push the button (like a car tire) and see if a little refrigerant comes out. If the system is full or has pressure the relay becomes the likely culprit.

Check your fuse also #16 ...from right to left top second road one that's for the A/C clutch it a 10amp one and chk your 7.5 amps also ...Hope you get it!!!

it has to be checked with a computer hooked to main computer under the drivers seat, you have to clamp a regular 1 1/2 inch rubber hose with a cone and it plugs in to another hose that is located behind the bumper on the drivers side it has a yellow plug cap. to put the transmission fluid simply add it to the cone when finished remove the hose and seal it with the yellow plug..

To replace the flasher on a VW Beetle, locate the flasher under the dash on the driver's side. Remove the old flasher and replace with a new one. This is not a fuse, but a three prong plug in that looks like a small cylinder.

You just do it. Hint there is a tricky switch you need to find once you do the whole things fall apart.

Remove the 4 screws from the rock guard on the front of the engine. Using a universal oil filter wrench, turn the filter housing counter-clockwise until loose then remove by hand. Replace the o-ring in the housing cap and replace the filter inside the housing. I had luck placing he filter into the base on the engine first and then placing the housing cap onto it. Tighten and replace rock shield... Good Luck!!

To bleed the coolant system on a 1998 VW Beetle, remove the top from the overflow tank. Run the car for 10 to 15 minutes to force any air out of the system, then check the coolant level. Add coolant as needed.

try removing the light switch......there are contacts inside the switch that are positioned on a spring sometimes these springs pop out of position disabling contact. the switch comes out easy and if you take a small flat head screw driver you can separate the switch and see these contacts. be very careful aponn separating the switch so you don't lose any small pieces. if the contacts and springs appear to be in the right positions then its time for a new switch.
