How do you remove the speakers on a VW New Beetle?
1. remove the door panel there is 3 screws on the bottom of the panel and 2 scews in the door handle ( you must pop the cap off the door handle to remove those )
2. removing the door panel you have to lift up and must do it firmly it might bring the window sill up with it, but that's ok just put it back easy to do.
3. after removing the door panel disconnect the wire connectors to the window switch and door lock switch and the door light. then set it aside.
4. most of the speakers are riveted in so unless you have a rivet remover tool you have to get a drill and drill the rivets out ( that's what I did )
5. remove speaker from hole it will come off with this big round plastic thing attached to it disregard it you will not need it for installing new speakers
6. you can either cut the wires that go to the speakers and put new speaker wire connectors on them or try to find the matching connector that is already there (Hard to find)
7. the new speakers must be 5-1/2 inches round they will fit right back into the hole and screw them in using screws just tad bigger than the hole where the rivets came out of.
8. replace the door panel in the reverse as you took it off and you are done. it really is very simply I did it in about an hour to do both doors.
How do you know if the car is front wheel drive or rear wheel drive?
look under it..if there is a driveshaft (cylinder shaped thing going from the front to back in the center) running to the rear axle, then it is rwd, if not it is fwd
Or if you don't fancy that look at the engine if it at the drivers side of the car it's front wheel drive if not it is RWD or All Wheel Drive. Submitted by Marcus leather
Or, from a stop, push the gas all the way down, if your rear wheels peels off then it's RWD, if your front wheels do then it's FWD, and if all wheels then it's AWD.

How do you get the rear brake caliper pistons to turn back in on a 1999 volkswagen beetle?
Requires a tool that not only pushes in the caliper but also rotates it as it goes in.
nope. at least not on a 93, and others that have a similar resevoir- its a low coolant level float switch The coolant light blinks when the level is too low and/or there is insufficient cooling. If the level is fine and the car is not overheating (the cooling fan is turning on, the oil temp is okay, etc.), the gauge temperature sender may be faulty.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Properly drain the cooling system into an approved container. 3. Remove all accessory drive belts or the serpentine belt. 4. Remove the alternator and bracket. 5. Unscrew the water pump pulley mounting bolts and then pull off the pulley. 6. Unfasten the mounting bolts, then remove the water pump. 7. Using a putty knife, clean the gasket mounting surfaces.
ALSO: on most vehicles you should take off the alternator as well, that way it will release the belt from getting in your way of removing the water pump.
What could be the cause for your heater anc ac not working on your 2000 Lincoln ls?
the fan blows cold air and there is no heat at all, the windshield also foggs up alot from the inside, could the 2 be related?
If you adjust your temp control to the highest degree..then reduce to the lowest, you will open the baffle which is probably stuck..
How do you replace a spotlight on a 1999 Toyota Altezza?
They are held in with 2 X 10mm bolt's accessible from the air gap inboard of the light. Once those are undone the light assembly just comes forward on a slight angle to realise a clip on the outboard. DO NOT pull the light to far as the cable for the bulb is still attached that just unclips or you can just twist the whole bulb out. Hope this helps.
Ac compressor not coming on in a 1992 Buick?
Either low on freon or the low pressure switch is bad. You are gonna have to put a set of gauges on it. Usually this happens when the freon leaks out of the system. If there is not enough freon in the system, the low pressure switch keeps the compressor from coming on and being burned up.
Short for turbocharger, It is an exhaust driven air compressor. Exhaust gases exit the engine and enter the turbine housing where it spins the turbine wheel. The turbine wheel is connected to a shaft which the compressor wheel is also attached. When more power is needed, the turbine/compressor wheel assembly spins faster and the compressor wheel sucks in more air and compresses it creating boost/positive manifold pressure/more power.
Is the 1961 VW 6volt or 12 volt?
The 1961 VW Beetle was 6 volt. North American Beetles did not have 12 volt systems until 1967.
What type of oil to put in a classic vw bug?
The best oil for a VW Beetle is Shell Rotella T 30-weight. This is oil designed for diesel engines. You probably can't get this in Walmart because they only have multigrade Rotella 15W40 (which you can use as a second option) but Autozone and O'Reilly both have it. And before you ask, you almost certainly can't get this at a truck stop--they have 15W40 Rotella, Chevron Delo, Castrol Tection, and Truck Stop Private Label because all the new truck engines use that oil.
The reason for the 30-weight Rotella is it's made to be used in engines that run very hot in normal operation, like the Detroit Diesel 2-stroke engine series. Volkswagen Bug engines also run very hot in normal operation, so this oil is perfect for them.

How do you fix a fuel sender to fuel gauge on a 72 beetle?
I also have a '72 beetle - with a busted fuel sender unit. I have the installed one and another older one. They both have a floater attached to an arm that makes contact with resistance wire on the inside of the unit. The resistance wire is wrapped on the inside. So the resistance (and thus the voltage reading) changes as the contact (floater) moves. It seems that the delicate resistance wire is the weak point in the design and usually breaks. The contact part that brushes over the wire also sometimes can be a bit bent. If you can see the wire is broken you can try to replace the whole winding by removing the old and determining the value (in ohms/meter) and buying new resistance wire and rewinding it. Alternatively try and replace the whole resistance wire setup with a potentiometer (variable resistor) - I think that probably better.
I actually got the old unit I had working this evening just to blow it up when I was clever enough to 'test' it with 12V without adding a current limiting resistor. before blowing it up I measured the resistance range: 0-400 ohms. the windings are regularly spaced, so the resistance should rise linearly with movement of the floater.
I see if i can get anything fixed and let you know. Otherwise, if you live in USA try wolfsburgwest.com in Cali. they have new ones for $33. I live in South Africa :( - so I'll probably have to try and fix it or pay like more than double that.....
Why would a 2001 new beetle stall when it rains or gets wet?
the common problem is the coil pack. if you know anything about cars you can spray it with a water bottle to simulate rain or moisture. if the motor stutters you know you've located the problem. if you dont know your way around a car you can tell your local mechanic you suspect the coil pack since its a known problem
