What could be wrong if a 2000 Beetle won't go into reverse?
once on my 99 beetle the cable on the transmission broke and i wouldn't take 1st, 2nd and reverse.it would just go straight to 3rd. i just replaced the ending of the cable which was really cheap at the dealer. and voula!!!
You begin by using a small screwdriver in the slots at the bottom of the rear speaker, near the rear hatch. The face plate will easily disengage.
Pull out the red clip about an inch and then pull on the tag on top of the speaker unit. You will need very small hands to get into the space provided. It is very difficult to turn the bulb holder but it comes out once turned. It will be useful to mark the end with tape so that you know how to orient it when done. Very stupid design by Volvo I am afraid
Where is the coolant sensor on a 1997 Contour 4 cylander?
It should be located on the top of the thermostat housing just at the right hand end of the engine. I am assuming that you are looking for the guage sensor.
How do you replace a vw headlight bulb for a 2004 jetta?
I just did it on both of my 2004 VW Jetta Wagon headlights!! They recommend you replace both at the same time and I highly recommend it since both of mine went within 2 weeks of eachother. Last night I had to drive home with just my high beams on because both headlights were out. I'm not a big fix-it girl, but my uncle told me it's relatively straightforward so I gave it a try and had no problem. I followed instructions from http://autorepair.about.com/library/a/1h/bl197h.htm and they worked perfectly. I didn't need to remove my battery, but I did remove the battery cover because I needed the room on the driver's side. wear glasses to protect your eyes. Here's how it went: If you're doing the driver's side, use a philip's head screwdriver to remove the plastic cover with the lightbulb imprint on it first.......unscrew the two screws and pull the plastic cover off. It's tight working between the battery and headlight, but I was able to do it and I'm definitely not mechanically inclined. (1) there are two metal spring clips around a snail-shaped plastic cover just behind the headlight inside the engine compartment. Release both of these and remove the plastic cover by sliding it off the plastic hooks and pulling it out of the engine compartment. You may have to push pretty hard to release the clips. I released the lower one first and it was much easier to get the upper one released. (2) inside, just behind the headlight, there's a piece with a lot of wires coming out of it, and at the base of that (toward the headlight) there is a large plastic lug nut-like thing that needs to be turned slightly to the left to release it. You can't see this on the Jetta, but you can feel for it and find it pretty easily. (3) once the lug-nut-like thing is released, you can pull the headlight and the electrical connector (bulb apparatus) slightly outside of the headlight so you can see them. (4) pull the entire bulb apparatus out of the connector. if the car was just in use, don't touch the bulb. you can see what you're supposed to be pulling out by looking at the new bulb(s). (5) insert the new bulb into the connector, make sure it snaps in place (6) put the bulb back in the headlight, make sure you line up the grooves on the headlight so it snaps into place. it takes some maneuvering. I looked at the grooves through the headlight to make sure they were lined up. on mine there were 3 grooves. (7) twist the lugnut slightly to the left so it locks in place. (8) check that your headlight works make sure the emergency brake isn't on or your lights won't go on. Another option is to turn the key to the start position and then turn your headlights on. I did this before I put the bulb back in to make sure it worked. (9) put the snail-shaped cover back on. It slides into two plastic things to hold it in place. (10) clamp the two clamps back on and you're done.
Where is the Comfort Control Module on a VW Beetle?
Under the steering column. You have to remove your hazard panel to get to 1 of the hidden screws. The hazard panel has 4 screws, 2 on the bottom and 2 behind the covers on the sides. You can then remove the plastic panel that matches your interior and it has roughly 6-8 screws (the one under the steering wheel at your knees when you sit in your car). When you remove that you then have to remove the big metal panel, but at this point you can see the module. It is a black box about 5 inches long 3 inches wide and 1 inch thick with 2 connectors going into it and 2 screws holding it in place to a metal stick. That itself is the main comfort control module. Takes 10-15 minutes to get to once you know where all the screws are.

How to get a CV halfshaft out of a Beetle: crawl under and use a CV socket to take the six bolts on each end of the halfshaft out of the car. Then just lower the halfshaft onto your chest and crawl out from under the car.
More weight over the drive wheels = better traction with front wheel drive.
Can a 2013 VW Beetle Auto Trans be flat towed?
No automatic transmission driven vehicles can be towed any distance at all without damage to the transmission gears. You have to lift the drive wheels off the ground in order to tow it. On some vehicles you can disconnect the drive shaft (if it is not front wheel drive.) The reason that it causes damage is because when the drive wheels turn, the interior gears of the transmission turn too and since the transmission is not working, there is no lubrication being pumped inside the transmission. The lack of lubrication causes gear damage.
What is causing your VW Beetle to slam into second gear?

Are VW 1.9 liter TDI interference engines?
Gasoline engines can be designed so that even if the timing belt breaks, the valves will not contact the pistons, regardless of what position the camshaft stops in (a so-called non-interference engine). Not all gasoline engines are non-interference ... but they can be. This is impossible with a diesel engine because of the high compression ratio, and the small space between the piston and head in order to achieve that compression ratio. All 4-stroke diesel engines are therefore interference engines.
How does rain sensor work in a Volkswagen?
They work by the sensor getting rain on it and if it is getting a lot on it then it will speed up the wipers and if it gets less then it will slow them down. Its on the top of your windshield right behind the mirror. ---- Yes, quite an obvious statement of fact; what the OP was hoping for was an answer to his question. ----

Where is the Fuse box for a 2003 vw beetle?
To find the fuse box for the 2003 VW Beetle, open the driver's side front door. The fuse box is located on this side of the vehicle on the lower dash panel closest to the hinge for the door. There is a small, U-shaped cover that opens to reveal the fuse box.
It's screwed into the side of the engine case, very close to the crank pulley, and there's a wire sticking out of it--or at least a place to connect a wire.
Why would the heater and AC stop working in a 99 Ford Contour?
If both arnt working it is just the internal fan blower take it to the dealer or mech and have them check the switches first then the blower! good luck
Also, check the fuse in the main fuse box. It will be fuse 37 (light green with a 30 rating listed on it).
Check the main fuse box wiring harness (it's located on the interior drives side, just under the dash if it's an automatic transmission) Look at the main wiring harness coming into the box. It's on the underside of the fuse box and towards the back when it is closed. There is a green wire and fat red wire coming in. The red wire is known to burn out. If the wire look brown theres your problem. Disconnect the battery, pull out the connector and see if the connection is salvagable. Are the pins secure ect. If they are replace the connector to the fuse box. May have to go to a salvage yard to get it or the whole fuse box cause ford wants to sell the whole wiring harness.
Also you could check the relay 14 and the switches.
How do you replace a headlight bulb on a 2002 VW Beetle?
1. Remove headlight housing.
2. Remove the retaining clip to remove the upper (low beam) or lower (high beam) bulb from the holder from the back of the housing unit. Remove the old bulb(s).
3. Do not touch the bulb with your bare hands! Wear clean gloves or hold with a clean paper towel. Fingerprints on the bulb will cause the bulb to burn out or explode!. Insert the new bulb.
4. Replace the retaining clips and insert the housing back into the tracks and into the body. Plug the electric connectors in and insert the housing completely.
5. Reposition the release lever to the original position being careful not to break the plasic lever.
6. Check your lights for operation.
Yes! My 73 Super Beetle is set up the same way. I am tracing a turn signal problem and I verified this.
What would cause a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta to give a P1128 code?
I'll guess to say the O2 sensors (switched or in the wrong positions.....) Volkswagen will tell you that it's a system 2 error...which then you'll have to bring it in for a full diagnostic .....hummm $$$$$$$$$ (no thanks) I've got the same problem right now and can't seem to get a straight answer without spending a bunch of $$ to have it diagnosed. This problem with the p1128 code occurs when you have a bad mass airflow sensor because this problem happened to my vw jetta 1.8t and i first changed the o2 sensor and the code poped back up so I finally figured the problem was my mass airflow sensor.. guaranteed a %100.. good luck and thank me later. ok i know this sounds basic and a bit patronising but the p1128 code means Long Term Fuel B1 System Too Lean i currently work in the motor trade as a fuel specialist including over 12 yrs with crypton, sun, bosch tuners, rolling road, turbos, chipping and frequent weber and bosch for tech update training,
try finding the fuse box and look for the brake light fuse on see if it is broken
