How do you get defrost to work on 1982 vw vanagon?
There is a switch on the right side of the instrument cluster near the hazard (4-way) switch. If that doesn't work check the fuse. If that is not the problem check the connectors at the rear window. There are testing procedures for testing the heating elements, they may not be working.

How do you remove and replace the ignition switch in a 1994 Explorer?
To change out the ignition switch (key lock): I found you can follow the instructions in Haynes, autozone.com, etc. up to the point of the release pin. Instead of approaching from the bottom with the punch or awl - you won't find any hole, you need about 8 - 10 inches of wire like bailing wire (stiff, about 3/32" diameter). Look down from above at the key/lock housing. At about the middle of the housing you will see a cylindrical shape in the housing that will be pointing toward the driver's seat. This contains the channel to reach the release pin. You will be able to see (still looking from above) a rectangular slot where you can reach the channel. Take the wire and bend in a "L" shape with a gentle arch so the shortest end has about 1 1/2" straight wire. Insert the short end in the opening to find the pin and push it in to release the lock mechanism. I have a 94 Ford Ranger XLT v6 4L that this description fits exactly!! I even took my old door key with the new ignition key to a locksmith and had them finish cutting the new ignition key for the old door locks. Total costs for me to do the change ~$35.00 the local Ford dealership wanted $325.00. Total time including install, buying part, getting keys cut 1.5 hours. This site is great!

Where is the turn signal flasher located on a 1995 Chevy S10?
The turn signal and hazard flashers are located on the bottom right hand side of the driver's side dash below steering column, to the left side of the ashtray. Take out the three screws and pull down. The hazard flasher is on the left and the blinker flasher is on the right.
.....I found that it was more then three screws but it was where the above stated it was.
.....You may not be able to get the whole dash down, I just bent it down enough to get my arm in there and put the new flasher in... good luck but it fixed my problem so i was happy
I had the same problem, but after asking everyone I knew, I found the answer online. The above is correct, but to make it easier to get to the flasher, you may want to take out the ashtray and remove the screw that was hidden by the ashtray. This will make it a little easier to spread the dash apart to get to the flasher.
Where is the turn signal flasher in the 1997 jimmy?
I answered a similar question about fixing the flasher, so I'll pearoast a slightly modified version of it here. It will answer your question, too. By "changing the flasher", I am assuming you mean the emergency flasher switch, or the turn signal switch. In either case, it is an integrated unit, along with cruise control (if you have it) on the steering column. Fixing it, in this case, means replacing it. Your best bet is to buy a replacement from a junkyard. When I did mine, I had to buy an entire steering column and take the unit from that; the yard wouldn't sell me the signal unit alone. Even then, it only cost me $80 - a bargain. The process isn't hard, but I couldn't explain it well enough to do it justice. It boils down to basically this: 1) Disconnect the battery and remove the airbag fuse. 2) Remove the airbag from the steering wheel. (Be careful!) 3) Remove the steering wheel and drop it from it's mounting bolts. 4) Remove the plastic housing. 5) Disconnect the signal unit and mount the new one. 6) Put it back the way you found it. I PROBABLY MISSED A STEP OR TWO! Get a good manual (I use Haynes) and read it thoroughly before starting a project like this. Good luck to you! Mr. Dog

Unknown if towing a trailer, disconnect before test.Check turn signal's on truck alone. If problem continues, check turn signal lamp(s) and socket(s),adjoining connectors wires/pigtails (blown, broken, burnt, corroded).Rapid or no flashing can be result of these defects.Let's look for now your turn signal relay switch as you requested, replace, then retest.F-150's have small fuse panel(about hand size)lower left side of dashboard. F-250's on up,use a flat screwdriver and remove the panel.(Four pastic screw fasteners 1/4 turn counterclockwise)Check for blown fuses.Early model trucks had flasher units (looks like a small can)on the fuse block or very near to it.Some models in the car and truck lines also had signal and/or four-way flashers under the dashboard/instrument panel along the wiring harness sometimes under the dash along the firewall itself. If found, replace, retest. Still problem? then go to beginning on lamp/socket. Also, there is a power distribution panel under the hood. This will be checked later for the trailer problem. (usually on the driver side fenderwell, black box about 2"x 8" in dimension)With fuses/relays.We'll get back to this later. The turn signal lever also has a module built in itself on the steering column. Notice we are starting from the cheapest route then go up. If possible, check wire harness to signals for breaks etc. Repair if needed, then retest.Still problem, replace turn signal switch module. If a trailer is used being the problem, check trailer plug and socket for full installation.Sometimes you have to work the plug to clean the contacts to get good connection due to dirt, corrosion etc. Also socket/pigtail going to harness Clean if needed, replace broken parts. then reinstall and retest. If trailer is encountering lighting/signal problems, truck lights/signals can possibly still operate normally. Trailer power comes from a relay in the power distribution box. Replace relay, retest.Still problem? it's on the trailer.
