Yes, much like it is all over the rest of the civilized world. However, in America, tension between races seems to spike at certain points in time when the media readily provokes people with false claims of racism and ignores real claims of it.

Being such a diverse culture, America has a real potential to have racial tension and racism die down, come to halt, and just be a non matter, but it would take much effort of swallowed pride and actual understanding of others without being led by what's seen on television.

Cities are not living beings, but communities of people, so, by definition, no city is racist. However, people living in a city or community can be racist and sometimes it may seem that racists are the majority in a town and thereby giving the impression that everyone living within those geographic boundaries shares the same sentiment and lack of tolerance. As a community, Baton Rouge is richly diverse at all levels of community and government.

Baton Rouge is also where the main campus of the Louisiana State University. The student population there is very diverse. It's doubtful Baton Rouge is a racist city. There may be racist individuals there, but few and far between.

The usual kinds of racism that exists with respect to any group. To ask a more useful question, specify in which country the racism existed, who behaved in a racist fashion, and regarding Asians of which country or countries the racism existed, the target, if you will.

Being only 14 and going through this because of my race is horrible. But like I said there is always going to be that one person who ruins it and thinks they are better. Gang membership and racism are very related because racism is a group of people who don't like another race, and gang membership is a group of people who don't like another group and have their own turfs and dislikes of something. They both are the perspectives of a group of people.

To be realistic, probably about the time the country was colonized by Europeans, causing immense social disruption to the Maori race as their land was taken over and their traditional ways of life disrupted; it's difficult to maintain a healthy social and community identity when your people are treated as savages, even 'noble savages'!

This has continued over the decades although it is being addressed to a greater extent now than previously and some dignity is being restored to Maori and Islander races, though it has taken in many cases legislation to achieve this, which is unfortunate and in a more sensible world would be unnecessary.

However, unlike in Australia where the Caucasian population are unable to accept their indigenous population with due respect, New Zealand Caucasians are increasingly proud of their shared heritage with Maori.

Er, that's a hard one, but the answer is really somewhere in the middle. Yes, when he was a newspaper editor in South Dakota, L. Frank Baum did write some shocking editorials advocating genocide against the local Native Americans. But this was hardly unique, in that most of the other white settlers were afraid of them. Baum was an advocate of women's suffrage and other progressive causes of his day, and so this was an atypical stand for him. He was likely lashing out in frustration over the economic hardships he and the rest of the Dakota Territory were going through at the time. Baum was a product of his times, and it took many decades before attitudes towards Native Americans and other ethnic groups changed in the United States.

It's mostly fear of the unknown, but there ARE racist Jews.

Most Jews do not hate Blacks. On the contrary. Jews openly marched with Blacks petitioning for Civil Rights. Abraham Joshua Heschel, one of the leaders of Conservative Judaism, marched with Dr. King on numerous occasions. Jews often saw a kinship between themselves and Blacks in that they were both repressed and brutalized by White Society for a very long period.

In fact, Black hatred of Judaism is far more common than Jewish hatred of Blacks. Numerous Black Israelite Churches specifically allege that Jews are the spawn of Satan and numerous other more colorful terms. There are other Black Churchgoers who toe the Christian line that Jews are hell-bound, which while being a step up from demonic spawn, is still a form of hatred or derision.
