What are the two types of metamorphic rock?

The two classifications of metamorphic rock are foliated and non-foliated:

1. Foliated metamorphic rock such as gneiss display banding and regrouping of its mineral constituents as a result of enormous pressures and heat. The banding forms perpendicularly to the direction of pressure. The pressure is usually related to tectonic plate collisions. Schist is another type of foliated rock that exhibits thin layering of micaceous minerals, once again due to pressure and heat. The difference between these two types of foliated rock lies in the rock from which they were derived.

2. Non-foliated metamorphic rock such as quartzite and marble do not display the banding or layering that are present in foliated rocks. This is because their parent rock was usually sedimentary and more pure in mineral composition than the parent rocks of foliated rocks.

Metamorphic rock can also be classified as regional (from broad processes such as plate tectonics) or contact (from proximity to an invading heat source).

Why do anorexics love carrots?

As a recovering anorexic, and i mean a REAL one, one that is 26 yrs old, and weighed 80 lbs at 5'4,who has been in & out of hospitals & had a heart attack, I can honestly say, i never ate carrots, hated them, still do! I dont know of any anorexic actually who eats a lot of carrots?! And i have been in special therapy groups with like dozens of em'! Anorexia,is not a joke to all you out there, it is a physcological thing, not a choice, and most certainly not just about counting calories & over exercise! Although anorexics do count calories & over exercise this is not the base of the disease, the base is a part of your brain being infected, mostly caused by sexual assults & traumas(especially at a young age)! Why would an anorexic eat carrots? when they could eat a square cube of skinless boneless chicken breast at the same value! Last time i checked carrots were loaded with carbs & natural sugars, the fact that its healthy for you would actually make a real true anorexic stay away from it, as its a voice inside of your head that tells you what you do & eat. you see carrots have like, no calories, they are crunchy so you're mouth thinks you're eating something nice, like chips AND when you poo it's only carrots- you can see and smell them, so it assures you that yes, you only ate a bag of carrots. that's like... 15 calories!!!!!!!!!! Well dear, carrots are healthy and hardly have any calories. (they also have alot of vitmin A.) Well i guess i must be an out of the mainstream anorexic, carrots disgust me, i dnt care how few calories they have. HOWEVER, i have found myself dipping them in bits of mustard when i neeeeeeddd to taste something... well i use them more like a shovel for mustard. i love it, zero cals, i dont care about nutrient value. so maybe some anorexics "love" carrots, but you try starving yourself for 3 months dear, you'll see that anorexics love ALL FOOD.

Can recovering anorexics and bulimics join Weight Watchers?

Yes, very carefully. If you are recovered, and have your doctor's ok, then you can join. If you are in recovery, then no, you should not join.

Will WW check on you? No, of course not - how would they know if you have an eating disorder?

As for people who say that WW is only for obese and fat people, they've never been a part of WW. I joined to lose 10-15 pounds, and I did that plus some more. I'm now down to a size 2 and am on what WW calls "Maintenance" where I stabilize my weight where I am. I'm a recovered bulimic, and it's been over 9 years since I've been recovered.

For people who believe that anorexics and bulimics can't be overweight, that's also untrue. Anyone, regardless of weight, can develop an eating disorder. Anyone that has had an ED will tell you it's not about weight, or food, or even losing weight - it's about control, emotions, and comfort. That's one of the reasons that a lot of us also cut, or self-mutilate, or do other self-destructive behavior.

Only join if you're certain you are healthy enough to be... healthy. Otherwise, wait.

Are you anorexic if you are 12 years old and weigh 78 pounds?

No i know alot of people that is a bit skinny but just think of the plus side.

My Answer:It all depends on your height and how you see youself. if you are 5 ft 6 inches and only weigh 78lbs, you are definitely underweight and may consider gaining weight...but not neccesarilly anorexic.if you are, say, 4ft 7 inches, your at a great weight. about body image: if you are constantly thinking I'm so fator I need to loose weight to look as skinny as her and are starving yourself or preventing consumption of calories to loose or stop gaining weight, it is highly likely that you are suffering from an eating disorder.

Will you end up gaining weight if for the last week all you've had is a lot of coffee because it kills your appetite and one small meal a day and you look skinnier?

You will not gain weight by doing this but... you will not lose weight quickly either. Your body will respond to this starvation by holding on to all the fat you have to survive. Also when you start eating right again your body will store it and be reluctant to let it go.

How does Anorexia affect a pers?

Anorexia can affect a person physically in a negative way, more than just through excessive weight loss. It can also harm someone on a mental level. Here are some of the problems that anorexia can do to a person... * Little to no body fat left, making a person more susceptible to the cold * Dry, flaky skin * Hair (on the head) loss, dullness, thinning, becoming more lank, loss of "shine" * Hair (on the body) growth of thin, "peach-fuzz" hair called lanugo * Weakness, fainting, and dizziness * Low heart rate, low blood pressure, and low body temperature * Depression * Organ malfunction, weakening, or failure * Malnutrition / starvation (which can be fatal)

How do you not look anorexic?

Not all anorexics "look" the part, per say. Some don't have as drastic weight loss, or naturally have a thin frame so it doesn't look as noticeable on them. Also, many anorexics take steps to rpevent the appearance of it, such as using creams to diminish chances of dry / flaky skin, extra conditioner to prevent hair loss, and baggy clothes, for example, to hide some of the weight loss.
