How do you get your baby to smile on my baby boy i had to restart my game and forgot how?

Smile at them and put them in your arms like a cradle and spin in a circle with "NO" socks on. (do'NT want to fall).

If that doesn't work. Just love them and go crazy and let them watch you It'll come one day.

At what age should you encourage your child to color within the lines?

* Start early by teaching them to be neat. * I feel you should let them be creative until they reach school age and it is important for them to be able to color inside the lines. Letting them be creative forever is a good idea too. Encouraging them to know *how* to color within the lines is different than demanding it always. Adding an extra arm or two to a picture is just as legitimate as anything else. Too many children refer to the front of a coloring book to know how the pictures "should" be colored. Learning control is excellent, but don't stifle creativity.

I would say between ages 4 to 6...or maybe 5

Could SIDS be caused by not 'burping' a baby?

In a word, no. I have studied every piece of information on this subject for five years now, and I have never heard of that. Generally the idea is:

1. The child is over heated, either by too many clothes or blankets, or the temperature of the room. They say to put the child in a sleeper with the footies and long sleeves, and no blanket. They should be on their back, so the child's body can release heat from the trunk area. Keep the temperature of the room the same as in the rest of the house, i.e. if you're comfortable so is your baby.

2. A "rebreathing" child basically suffocates, either conventionally by something covering the face, or the child breathes in his exhaled air and suffocates that way (rebreathing). To protect him from this you can put the baby to sleep on his back so he doesn't rebreathe. Also, the mattress must be firm. There should be no blankets, pillows, stuffed toys, or loose sheets in crib.

There is a lot of controversy about sleep sharing (sleeping with baby). You could roll on top of the baby, and there are pillows and blankets in the parental bed -- some possibilities of SIDS occurring. But I also read a study years ago about a parent's breathing possibly making the baby fall into breathing sync, thus helping to ensure the baby continues to breath as long as you do. There may also be something about your breath blowing into their face when you are sleeping together, and it supposedly forces air in the child making him breath.

There are mattresses one could buy with a fan inside it that does the forcing of air for you. Someone once said sleeping on a slight incline, there for the crib wedge. Personally with my two, soon to be three, I put them on a good mattress, on their backs, kept the temperature comfy, nothing was allowed in the crib but the baby, and no smoking was allowed in the house (if anyone still does that, it may also be linked to causing SIDS).

I was probably a little extra cautious and woke up all through the night, and could not go back to sleep until I saw the gentle rise and fall of their tummy that meant they where breathing. I think being vigilent, and educating ourselves is the only way we can save our babies from this silent killer.

P.S. Learn how to do CPR, please.

Sids by definition is the unexpained death of a seemingly healthy infant. As I see your answer I can only assume you have never experienced sids as you do realize how insensitive this answer.

I have a two year old daughther and my son would have been three months. I did everything you are reccomending and I knew CPR to, infact we live across the street from the hospital from the moment he passed out we got him to a hospital and he still did not make it.

You are talking good preventions, but you have to be aware these are not the causes of sids. Sids can not be defined and in my research. SIDS CAN NOT BE STOPPED.

Your baby can not die from not burping enough, but I suggest for the mother or father who asked the question talk to your town's local coroner or police department. You may find more comfort their then when you google. Everyone has their own opinions and it will drive you crazy and know you are not alone.

Is it reasonable for an elderly woman to hate all white men if her husband was killed by a white man?

I am assuming this elderly lady is black. I am so sorry to hear about this and no, I don't blame her. You are a kind person and doing your best so your heart is in the right place. Please understand this lady is angry that SOME MAN (not just a white man) took her husband's life and she's lost the love of her life and is afraid on top of it. She knows she will miss him and be lonely, but more than anything she is going through a natural grieving process. Black, white, Asian, etc., we all mourn for the one's we love that are taken by death. There is no special time an individual will get over mourning. It could be months or in some cases years. In the case of this lady I feel in a few months she'll feel somewhat better and a little calmer. In grieving one is in shock, then fear, then denial, anger and feeling useless to the fact she can't get her husband back and wanting to kill the very man that killed her husband. She is left feeling defenceless and distrusting every white person around including the law and the court system and after all, who could blame her after a history of the way blacks have been treated. I am sure the man will be caught and punished and perhaps then this lady will realize the laws apply to everyone in this day and age and not just to the white people. No matter how many decades go by many Black Americans or (Blacks) will always remain true to their own heritage and when there is trouble they will reach out to their family members and black friends and God, for it's those three things that made them strong to this day. Give her time and meanwhile, if you have a wife or girlfriend that is calming, mature have her go over to the house with perhaps a nice cake or pie to sit and talk with this elderly lady. It is going to take a kind and sympathetic woman to get close to her. To me this elderly lady didn't get where she is today from being weak and it's all about grieving. In time she'll get over hating all white men and realize there is bad/good in every race. For now leave boxes of groceries outside of her home (canned goods, flour, sugar, coffee, ... things that won't spoil if left outside for a bit.) Don't put your name on it and don't push to see her at this point in time. YOU did nothing wrong, but she's too upset to think straight right now. She will probably still have a trial to attend yet and perhaps after that she will have the chance to sit and think about what has transpired. Have patience. You are a good person and there is no doubt in my mind you can make a big difference in this lady's life. I find God works in mysterious ways and perhaps he is leaving the best for last for this dear elderly lady .... YOU!

What does it mean if my baby has a simian line?

A simian line (or palmar crease) is a single line running horizontally across the palm of the hand, instead of the two that are usually featured in humans; the word comes from the fact that simians (or monkeys, apes, etc) have the same feature and is not in reference to the fact that we were "descended from apes" (nor is to be taken as proof of such either way).

Palmistry systems based in Europe are unused to accounting for such a palm, and so conventionally ascribe to them qualities of extreme intelligence (genius) or extreme sociopathology (insanity, criminals).

Japanese and Chinese palmists however, explain that those with the 'masusake' hand are of high repute and prone to be talented artists and scientists (genius).

The middle-of-the-road explanation is that it indicates a person who has a determined and "intense" personality that can focus on something very intently, and who might require a bit of extra care or attention(ie: Down's Syndrome, Bi-Polar Disorder, Autism, etc).

However, there is no hard proof that swings a definitive answer in either direction, and the simian line seems to be "just one of those things" that people have which makes them different from each other in certain ways; a lot of people even only have it on one hand, usually the left, oddly enough!

Although the presence of simian lines is apparantly higher among Native Americans and Asians, this does not seem to be a reliable indicator of having any sort of Native American or Asian lineage in your genetics...mostly because it is found in all cultures.

Health Considerations

Simian lines are featured among a significant number of people with Down Syndrome and other disorders, such as Bi-Polar, Autism or Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, etc, so without any other explanations, it might be a good idea to have your doctor check your baby for any symptoms...but remember that there are plenty of "healthy" people with simian lines (about 5% of European population has them).

Also note that from *my own* observations, and without deeper insights into the differing *types* of "simian lines", I've noticed that a lot of people who come up with an online search for "simian lines" don't actually *have* what I would consider a "true" simian line...more of a variant of one, if at all (ie: there's still a distinct second line, but small or faded, etc).

When will a child outgrow kicking and screaming tantrums?

Shortly after you begin to ignore them and leave the child by his or herself, no matter the setting. Children are social creatures and tantrums are a way to both gain attention and manipulate things their way. Ignoring them shows the tantrums don't work. Sonner or later, the child will figure out the more effective means of communication is using words to describe what he or she feels and wants. Good answer! A very good effective way also is to say to them "I can't hear you, you are talking to loud." I would also practice the stare so that it should stop them cold in their tracks. The stare and when my mother would just walk away from my brother and looked interested in something else made him stop.

What are some good slogans about mommies and babies?

"Train up a child in a way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it" -- Proverbs 22:6.

"Your children need your presence more than your presents." -- Jesse Jackson

Why babies cry and they stop when only you carry them and stand up if you carry a crying baby when your seated they never stop until you stand up?

Babies actually find comfort in motion. You dont realize it while your pregnant but your baby was constantly moving even slightly. You dont have to carry them everywhere, there are safe bouncy carriers that you can put at your feet and there are swings and even strollers that you can utilize. Some babies like commotion more then others. Play music while the baby is awake and sleeping, not loud, but so that they get used to the same soothing noise. Get on a routine, believe it or not this is a life saver. Get up the same time every day with baby, do the same routing for a good while with baby, bathing feeding, nap time, play time, rocking time, babies love rocking chair motion, then you will see a much happier baby. Good luck and hang in there...

How do you get a 14-month-old baby to go to sleep at night without her putting up a massive crying fit while babysitting?

Answer

It's best to talk to the parents and find out what they do in this case. Usually baby's like to be picked up (not always a good idea) and cuddle or rocked. To save yourself some hassels and worrying pick the baby up and walk around. Put on some soft music or hum a song to the baby. If the baby is still crying perhaps they have gas so there are two ways to do this:

Put a towel over your shoulder and hold the baby over your shoulder lightly patting the baby's back, or, put the baby tummy side down across your lap and pad or message their back. Hopefully you'll get a little belch out of them.

If this doesn't resolve the problem, then speak to the mother. It could be the formula the baby is on which doesn't agree with the baby. If it's pumped breast milk, mom could well have eaten something that is giving the baby cholic.

Good luck Marcy

How do you feed healthy food to babies?

As a parent, you have the opportunity to decide what goes into your baby's or child's mouth. They cannot go to the store and buy what they want. So, it is easy to make your children eat a healthy diet. Only buy healthy foods for them. If they don't have access to candies, fried foods or other unhealthy items they can't eat them. If children are fed a healthy diet from the time they are babies they are more likely to continue to eat the same way into adulthood.

i wouldn't because what if the baby accidently tears it, either by some sharp point on his crib or somewhere, then chokes on the beads inside

Why can't babies walk?

Very small children cannot walk for a few reasons; firstly because, in very young infants, their spines and necks are not yet strong enough to support their heads on their own, this is why infants must lie or sit leaning against an adult or a pillow or other soft surface. Secondly, their legs and feet are not yet strong or developed enough to support their body weight, and thirdly, they lack the mind capacity for that kind of weight management, balance, and muscle coordination.

Why would a 92 Dodge Colt E100 not start after sitting for five months?

Check to see if your getting fuel at the Multi Point Injection Intake disconnect the Fuel line and then turn the ignition on and see if your getting fuel coming out of that line. If not then you have a fuel pump problem. I discovered with my 92 Dodge Colt that after it sat at my mechanics place for seven months and I finally got it back cause he never fixed it, the fuel pump doesnt work now and the tank got drained empty so I suspect the pump got corroded or rusty because of the tank being empty. You have to see if it is getting fire and fuel and has compression. The gas is porbably bad and neeeds replaced.

Can a baby swim who is 0 years to 1 year old?

Some parents believe that babies can easily take to water since they formed in amniotic fluid. So some parents begin to teach very young infants to 'swim'.

However, there are some very real and dire risks to consider before taking a baby that young into a pool, such as:

  • Babies can and do drown every day in backyard pools, even wading pools for kids.
  • The heaviest part of a baby is their head. They cannot right themselves to a head up position without help. Because of this, babies can drown in as little as 2-inches of water, such as if they fall head first into a bucket with water. Even adding in the weight of a soggy diaper changes bouyancy.
  • They cannot float.
  • A baby cannot keep its head above water.
  • A baby cannot control and hold their breath.
  • A baby will breathe through the nose anytime their mouths are closed which increases the risk of getting fluid into the lungs.
  • A baby does not have enough coordination to do meaningful kicking in the water.
  • A baby's skin can be severely irritated by chlorine. Babies with red hair and very fair skin can be chemically burned.
  • Floatation devices are not sized for infants. They will slip out of them.
  • An ADULT must be with an infant, with both hands holding the infant. But even then, babies can slip away from an adult's hands when in water.
  • Severe sunburn is also a higher risk for babies when in any sized pool. Babies need sunscreen just like adults but ask your doctor which kind. Sunburn can land an infant in the hospital.

Overall, the risks for an infant when taken into a pool are extremely high.
