How do you jump the low presure switch with the engine running and AC turned on to find out if the compresser is good?

Depending on the vehicle, lets use a Chevrolet for an example, there is a 2 connecter plug going into the drier/accum. Make a jumper with a short piece of 14 gauge wire and 2 8mm end tips. Place a jumper lead into each hole on the harness side of the connecter. Start the car and carefully moniter pressure. It is possible to damage the compresser by running the system empty, wet or without oil, so make sure you have completed a vacuum test and have an empty system that will pull the freon and oil in quickly. Once you reach normal operating pressures disconnect your jumpers and reinstall the plug. The clutch should cycle on its own now.

Where can you get a Buick rendezvous 2004 manual?

My car didn't come with a manual when I bought it, either (I have a 2004 Buick Rondez., too). A manual can be downloaded from www.gm.com. Click Owners at the top right, Click Sign up (it is free) and register your VIN. Once you register, click on "My Dashboard" and download owners manual. This worked for me.

How do you break loose the wheel bearings from the axle?

I can tell you from my experience that this can be a bit difficult, especilly where rust is around. 1st, there may be Loctite on the 3 bolts in the back of the bearing assembly. I suggest torching them first! Loosen them up a bit. You can use a 3 jaw puller on the axle, which I tried the first time, but be prepared for a FIGHT. After i had replaced the first one, i spoke to my mechanic friend regarding this and he says that he used a small sledge hammer and pounds the axle until it starts to go, then finish with the puller. I did it this way on the second one and it was much faster.

How do you remove the drivers door panel on a 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII?

Very easy and no broken clips to be dealt with either!!!! Remove the small blank plug below the interior door handle which will expose a small bolt head, take that bolt out and then remove the lamp assemble at the lower rear position of the door panel by carefully prying up on the rear-most edge of the lamp itself. Unplug the lamp and remove the Phillips head screw behind the lamp. Roll the window down and then shut the key off. LIFT the entire door panel very carefully straight up and keeping the door panel very close to the door, unplug the 4-5 connectors for the power windows, locks, speakers and door handle lamp and then the door panel can be pulled free of the door. The door panel has molded in "hooks" whch hold the panel to the door. Be careful not to bend the door lock rod when reinstalling by pushing the lock down. Make sure you have the keys removed from the car when reinstalling the panel and make sure you plug ALL the plugs back ini upon reinstallation.

How do you replace the bulb on the front headlight on a 1996 Saab?

simple. you see a black round cover on the back of the headlight. unscrew it and pull it off. now the connector is VERY breakable (trust me i know!) so gently take it off. now is the hard part as its a tight fit and you cant see what you need the part you need to get to so feel with your hands around the bulb. you will feel a hinged hook that you can pull backwards (away from the front of the car). after you do that the bulb should slide right out. to install slide the new bulb in close the hook, reinstall the connector and put the cap back on! have fun!

How do you change a Buick rendezvous headlight?

To change a Buick Rendezvous headlight it will be necessary to raise the hood on the vehicle. There is an access panel for changing the headlamp just behind where the headlight is. Remove the panel, then gently turn the old bulb. Insert the new bulb without the hand touching the glass part of the bulb. This can be done through the use of a special pair of pliers made just for this purpose.

How do you change a serpentine belt on a 95 Saturn?

Release the tensioner, and it will loosen the belt. Refer to the illstration under the hood of your car to put the new one on. If it does not have a picture, you must remember this, as it is not fun trying to figure it out on your own.

Does a Buick Rendezvous have a third row seat?

The third row seat is an option, so not all will have it.

Even if you are looking at one that has it, it may not be obvious because it folds down for a flat cargo area behind the second row seat. Look for the headreasts right up against the second row seat backs and you will know if it has it or not. also look for the release buckle and the strap that pulls the seat back into the upright position. When the seat is up, there is very little cargo room. Maybe half a set of golf clubs.

How do you change the belt tensioner on a 96 Corsica?

I don't know if your 96 is the same as mine, but I just did this job on a 95 Corsica with 3.1 V6. On mine, I had to lower the engine to get at the bolt holding the tensioner on the engine.

Required tools:

  • Hydraulic Service Jack (3-ton minimum recommended)
  • 2 jack stands
  • 2 tire chocks
  • wrench or bar capable of releiving pressure on belt tensioner

(I used 15mm open ended wrench)

  • 2'long 2x4
  • 6"x10"x3/4" piece of plywood.
  • standard metric socket/wratchet set for small fender bolts (<8mm)

all the way up to 15 mmm engine mounting bolts.

1. Set rear brake and chock rear tires

2. Loosen lug nuts on passenger side front tire.

3. Lift and support front of car on jack stands. I recommend placing them beneath front tires, under the jack notches, at the lowest heights.

4. Remove tire and mud guard(s) to expose the lower pulley assembly. You should be able to see the front crank shaft pulley wheel with the tensioner assembly located to the left.

5. Loosen the serpentine belt and slip it off of the alternator. Leave the belt on the car unless it absolutely needs replacement (A separate job that possibly requires removing a different set of bolts and mounts than what is described in step 9).

6. Use hydraulic service jack with sufficient lift (despite the fact that the car is already on jacks) and support to reach the oil pan, raise the engine 1-2 inches, and, most importantly, support the engine while you lower it in step 10. I used a $70 3-ton service jack from Wal-Mart. Anything lighter and cheaper probably won't work.

7. Place plywood between the jack head and the oil pan and raise the engine 1-2 inches in order to relieve pressure of engine mounting bolts.

8. Wedge a wood 2x4 (approx. 2' long) behind the alternater. This will allow better access to the tensioner bolt by keeping the engine from rolling towards the firewall during step 10, and it can be used as a pry bar to help realine the these bolt holes during reassembly.

9. Remove the three 15 mm bolts from the engine mounting bracket closest to the pulley assembly. On mine car there were two in back and one in front.

10. Slowly unscrew service jack handle and watch the passenger side of the engine lower. Let it down very slowley until you can see/get to the tensioner bolt. Retighten the jack handle. If you are not going to block the engine at this heigth and will only rely upon the jack to hold the engine while you replace the tensioner, DO NOT GET UNDER THE ENGINE FOR ANY REASON (you should not need to anyway).

11. You should now be able to see the tensioner bolt. I used standard socket with ratchet and 4" extender. If angle is extreme, you might need to use a swivle. Also, you might also need to unclip the coolant hose from its fender brackets and lower it or pull it back to improve access the the bolt.

12. Remove and replace tensioner.

13. Reroute serpentine belt around the tensioner and all other other pulleys except for the alternator.

14. Do reverse of steps 10 - 1. JOB COMPLETE.

Big socket (32 mm, I think), Breaker Bar, Torque wrench (200 Ft-Lb), 13 and 15 mm sockets, Hand sledge, drift, and a lot of patience.

ONLY use Timken or AC Delco replacement bearings, or you'll be doing it again.

I had one stuck in the control arm that took a couple hours of hammering to get it out. Once out, it's relatively easy to install the new one.

How do you remove the Wheel Well covers on a 1996 Pathfinder?

Sorry for not being specific, but it's mostly short Phillips screws and plastic push pins that hold it on. I found from personal experience that the plastic push pins break and bend easily. Trashing these plastic pieces can cause problems like the plastic wheel well cover coming off while driving.
