Hopefully, you've put everything together properly. Consider cleaning and regapping the spark plugs. While the plugs are out, crank the engine over for a few seconds, then pour about a half teaspoon of engine oil in through each spark plug hole.

Verify that you have spark to the plugs using a spark tester or screwdriver.

If this is a fuel injected engine, check for codes. This may hint at something left unplugged. Also verify that you have fuel pressure and check all fuses.

If carbureted, make sure your fuel bowl is full by pumping the throttle and looking for fuel squirting into primary bbl.

DRIVERS SIDE (LEFT) there is a cover on the side of trans it can be done in car but you have to remove anything in the way of cover. you will need to remove trans mount to allow trans to be angled to remove cover. don't let a trans shop sell you the works this problem also trips other codes and trans shop will feed you bs that you need a new torque converter,sprockets and gears.costing up to $3,000. switch costs around $79.00 and labor can be 6hrs

You have an ignition coil at rear of plenum. trace wires back to it...it is bad! Replace it and you should be fine!

That all depends on what you are willing to fix. I bought a 1992 SLS for $1000. It ran great but the interior was trashed. I am having to redo the entire interior but the engine and transmission are top shelf. The cars regularly go 300K but here are some thing to watch for. The cooling system is mmmm fragile. You need to follow the instructions from Cadillac and use the treatment pills with the coolant EVERY time. Otherwise you can run into problems ranging from a bad water pump to a blown head gasket.Early northstar engines were ignored by owners,...no premium fuel,...no coolant treatment. Once the timing belt skips the engine generally doesn't run. While it is possible that a collision can cause such a problem, if the engine has not been damaged so that you can see a problem on the outside, nothing bad has usually happened. Are you sure a Cadillac has a timing belt? I thought they were gear driven.

There is no need to manually bleed the coolant system on a Northstar, the system is self bleeding. The small hose on the side of the overflow tank is the self-bleed line. If, by chance, this line is obstructed, then the air will be trapped & cause overheating problems. Be careful is the plastic nipple on the side of the overflow tank as it is very weak & cracks easily.

get a flat head screw driver.pull out the ash tray flip the black flap down you will see a siver tad behind the black flap push down on the siver tab and pull the tray out at the same time
