I just had my tires rotated and now the car shudders horribly when accelerating and when braking which it never did before the tune-up what could be wrong?

First thing I would do is make sure that all the lug nuts are on all the tires and that that they are TIGHT. Another possibility is that when the tires were rotated that some of the wheel weights were knocked off.

What could cause a noticeable noise and vibration from the rear axel of a 1999 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 W5 7 automatic transmission at 74 mph?

If the noise or vibration is coming from the rear axle itself, then you may have a worn set of gears in the rearend that may need replaced or adjusted. The vibration may also come from the driveshaft in need of some new universal joints. I always start with the cheapest fix and would pull the driveshaft, take it to a driveshaft repair shop and have them check balance and while it was there replace the universal joints. Reinstall the driveshaft and see if the problem is still there. If it is, then it is time to get into the rear end and pull the rear cover off and maybe determine if there is a lot of gear play, metal shavings or broken parts. It takes an experienced person to replace rear gears. Doing it wrong and getting the gear set meshed incorrectly can lead to premature failure. The average Joe can do it but plan on buying, borrowing or renting certain things to make sure you do the job correct, otherwise you will be doing it all over again. Some jobs are better left to the pros.

Why would a cars back end vibrate at idle?

That doesn't make any sense. But if your car vibrates at idle and stand still, then you probably have a fuel delivery or ignition problem that is causing a misfire.

What would cause a 99 Lexus to shake over 45 mph?

have your wheels balanced . if that doesnt fix it, check the u-joints

More than likely the tires are the issue, unless this happens when you are braking, then it is the front brake rotors. Tire problems are no joke, have them inspected even if it costs, its worth not being killed or killing someone else.

What noise does ball joints make when they are bad?

They make no real noise. Have themn inspected by a professional if you suspect they are worn. There is no real noise they make, but any noise from the front end could result in bad things. So, if you hear any noise, I recommend that you go get it checked out. One thing I do know that they will tell you though, when your car is up in the air, try grabbing ahold of the bottom and top of the outside of the tire and try moving the tire back and forth gently. If there is ANY play, chances are, something needs to be replaced. sometimes they will make a popping sound while turning.

What can you do to stop your car from shaking while driving?

This will depend upon the type of car you have, the type of shaking and what is causing the shaking. The solution may be anything from tightening a bolt to stop driving the car because it is dangerous.

How do you bring number one spark plug up to TDC on a 1988 ford f-150 5.0 engine?

Remove the spark plugs and slowly rotate the engine by hand until you feel the piston coming up on the compression stoke. You can place your thumb over the plug hole and you will feel the compression stoke. Once you feel it, place a long screwdriver in the plug hole and watch as it slowly rises. Once it gets to the very top, you are at TDC. You must go slow and do not get the screwdriver stuck. If you cannot use a screwdriver click the link.
