Check the MAF(Mass Air Flow) sensor. It is located on the throttle body, usually right after the air filter. Most of the time it is flat shaped and just screws into the throttle body. Unplug the electrical connector from it. Unscrew the sensor, clean the inside of the sensor with rubbing alcohol, get any dirt you see out. be careful no to break the little metal pieces inside. screw it back in place and reconnect the electric connector and give it a test drive. If that doesnt work, replace the sensor.It could even be a "throttle position sensor" I've had a couple of them go on me in the past , they would Scream! the RPM gauge up to 3000 to 4000 and only feel like driving 30 mph is about the fastest I could go, but when I came to a Stop the engine would Die out, had start it up again it would Scream! like a transmission was working too hard! , it would shake and everything later I hooked up my "CODE SCANNER" showed the "Throttle position sensor" was bad I replaced it for $100 at advance auto part store, that was a "throttle position sensor" for a Jeep Cherokee 1998 , they are all priced different for different car makes and models to price might be different for your car, also if you plan on doing alot of "home mechanical" repairs you should Invest in to an "obd2 code-scanners" they are well worth their money you'll be glad you go one, there are cheap ones "flash scanners" and there are "on screen code scanners" that what i have they cost anywhere from $100-$300
How do you remove a starter on a 1999 Kia Sportage?
Here is the method listed in Mitchell's On Demand Manual. I used it myself and it works great. It should be noted that some of the nuts on this starter are in "blind" locations and you will need extensions and "universal joint" adapters to get your socket on them and turn them. It was very difficult but easier going back on. Also note that after the unit is removed it is like working a puzzle to get it positioned to come down through the small area available for removing it. The Vehicle will need to be on ramps or a lift for this proceedure as most of the work is done from beneath. Removal & Installation 1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove two upper bolts from intake manifold bracket. Raise and support vehicle. Raise and support vehicle. On M/T, remove clutch slave cylinder from side of clutch housing and push it aside. 2. On all models remove lower intake manifold bracket bolts and bracket. Remove two upper starter bolts and a lower bolt. Pull starter from clutch (M/T)or converter (A/T) housing and prop in place. From above, disconnect starter solenoid "S" and "B" terminal connectors. From below, push transmission harness aside and remove starter. 3. To install, reverse removal proceedure. Rotate starter to provide proper clearance. Torque all nuts and bolts to specifications.* * I was unable to remotely position a torque wrench on or even near these fasteners so I "guestimated" it by feel. Hey! It works!
Good question. You may have an antilock brake circuit that is not sensing the brakes correctly and improperly correcting. Anti lock pulses the brakes when you apply them. I don't know if this is perfected or not.

Your rotors are warped. Replace the brake pads and have the rotors resurfaced or replaced. Make sure the wheel lug nuts are torqued to specs when the tires/wheels are reinstalled. Over tightening the lug nuts will warp the rotors.
On the other hand, if you've had the brakes replaced, and the PREVIOUS mechanic used a cheap replacement rotor, that may be the cause. Cheap rotors warp easily.

If this does not work, put it in the shop and have the speed sensors and the shifting solenoids on the transmission checked. if either or both are giving a wrong signal to the computer it may be shifting into the wrong gear.
Unhook the battery ground for about an hour. This will reset the computer back to factory settings. Sometimes this will work.

it doesn't. it's because of miss-fire. change the ignition plugs and some of the wiring. A very common cause if the engine is vibrating is a leak in a vaccuum hose or a disconnected vaccuum hose. A higher rpms this is not as noticable. you can listen for a small air suction noise or if you want to rule this out simply disconnect a vaccuum line and see if you have a noticable change. also you might check the elbow that connects the vaccuum lines as they sometimes get holes or dissintegrate.
