Car Stalling Problems

When your car’s engine stops when it’s in idle or is accelerating, then your car has stalled. Almost all stalling problems stem from poor fuel-gas mixture, out-of-tune fuel injection or fuel contaminants.

How do remove and install air condition brackets 1981 cadillac?

Just replaced compressor on 1981 DeVille. It has 3 nuts on the bottom of the bracket in front. There is also a stud which holds the rear in place UNDER the air cleaner about 8 inches behind the compressor. You will need to remove the stud with a pair of nuts locked together. Then the compressor with brackets attached comes straight out toward the radiator. Ignition wires and other hoses and wires need to be ON TOP of the rear bracket with exception of one tube underneath. Only four fasteners need to be removed to get it off and trying to take brackets off is a waste of time. The rear bracket only goes on one way, or it will not connect to stud. Note how the bolts go through the brackets because they need to go back the same way.

Why does your 1988 Dodge Aries start up on the gas it get when you turn the key on but then stall because the injector doesn't pump any gas after that?

This could be due to a bad Hall effect sensor. On this car it is part of the pickup coil/stator. This can be found under the distributor cap and rotor, and is the piece that the wire goes into. The pickup coil senses the magnetic field as pieces of metal are rotated through the Hall effect sensor. This device controls the fuel delivery of the car after it has started and is generally a big culprit for a stalled Dodge Aries. To replace you will need to remove the distributor cap and rotor. The pickup coil will be under those and rather simple to replace. It costs about $25-$40.

What caused your car to cut off while driving only to give off a ticking noise when trying to restart?

If the car is ticking but not turning over when trying to start, it sounds as if it's an electrical issue. The ticking sound is probably the starter solenoid. It sounds like there's not enough current to engage the starter. (They require quite a bit of juice.) I'd suggest checking the battery, alternator, and battery cables.

What causes a 1999 infiniti g20 to stop running while driving and start again immidiately and run for hours then stop again?

two possibilities one your harmonic balancer might be gone and the pulleys push in on themselves then stop. Second there is a small 50 cent rubber seal at the beginning of your fuel rail if this has ripped it could swell up and cut off your gas flow. First check for damage on belts looking on the left side of the motor if not have mechanic chech fuel rail gaskets.

Why would a car die when idling?

the most common thing here with American cars is a tps (throttle positioning sensor) pretty cheap and easy to get to. usually located under the breather/air cleaner. or a vacuum line is disconnected. usually with a vacuum line the car wouldn't start at all without having to pump the gas pedal and continue to do so to keep it running

It depends on how wet the engine got. If it will not immediately restart and there wasn't a lot of water getting into the engine if you wait 20 - 30 minutes the engine may have dried out sufficiently to restart however if the engine was very wet then you are looking at a trip to the garage to get it dried out

What would cause my car to stall when driving it or when i brake or put it in gear?

I first would check the Mass Air Sensor ( the MAS) try tapping on it with a screwdriver handle - if the car dies then you need a MAS...also check the EGR valve to make certain it is not stuck open. Check the fuel pressure and also make certain to so have the car scanned to see if there are any Engine codes.
