There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.

I dont know! I am getting the same code on mine and no one seems to be able to let me know what it means! I have never had a check engine light come on until today and so I took it to the auto parts store and they have no clue what this means ~ driving me crazy!

I also heard a whining noise on my 2003 Cavalier. It turned out that the plastic covers on the nuts that hold the hubcaps on had cracked after I had my tires rotated. It seems silly, but the whining stopped after the covers were replaced.

My check engine light comes on after I pump gas at a different gas station than the one I usually go to, regardless of speed. It goes away after I drive for a few miles. That may not be the case for you, but it's worth noting.

One or more spark plug wires could be going bad. The porceline insulator on a spark plug could be cracked.

There are many reasons for an evaporative emissions fault code not just a loose gas cap. Go to Autozone if you don't have a code reader, they will get you the fault code for free. Then go to your local big city library get the service manual for your car...the library personnel can help you find the right book. Look up the code. You will then have an idea of what your looking at. If a service technician used a code scanner to read the code and it showed that the gas cap was loose, he's probably telling you right. Sometimes that particular code clears itself, other times it has to be cleared with a code scanner. The gas cap can also be leaking, and you might need a new one. Check for nicks or breaks in the rubber seal. Rent, borrow or purchase a code scanner and see exactly what it says is wrong. If the service engine light is on, the computer has a 'stored code' and you should be able to pull up an error message.

the only way to fiqure that out is to go and get you car scanned, then it will tell you wats wrong

Ensure that the filter is not one that needs oil. Oil will mess up you AMS. However, most of the time the engine light will not come on with an AMS fault. You will normally sense the engine is underperforming way before.

If you keep getting a Po410 code You have water in your smog pump. It's located at the bottom of the radiator, passenger side. You can get the pump on e-bay but you'll need the GM # off the old pump. Also check the relay and fuse located on the passenger side wheel well behind the battery. Hope this helps!!

The check engine light on a 2004 Honda Civic can be reset by unplugging the ECU fuse in the engine bay fuse box. The ECU fuse is located is blue and rated at 15 amps.

You have to disconnect the negative battery for 5 min then unhook the positive then re hook the battery this should take care of the pesky engine light if it doesnt then u have to get the code

After replacing the timing belt and fuel filter, the lights can be reset. The method changes depending on the model and year. Some of them use the trip meter button and the ignition switch, others use a concealed button on the dash, others have a switch on the back of the dash.

It means there is a problem with the Vehicle Speed Control system. Have it diagnosed by a trusted well trained ASE certified technician.

P0068 MAP/MAF - Throttle Position Correlation

Engine will run rough, or idle rough
Engine may not accelerate well
May have a dead spot in acceleration

Cause
Dirty air cleaner, or obstruction in air flow
Vacuum leak between the MAF and intake manifold
Leak in the intake manifold
Bad sensor or connectors
Bad throttle body
Blocked hose from intake manifold to MAP sensor

Repair any vacuum leaks, inspect all hoses and connections
replace air filter or remove obstructions
Repair or replace any bad wire connectors

take it to your nearest auto parts store(autozone or advance auto) and they will clear the code for you but i would suggest you fix the problem first otherwise it will just come back on

Running out of gas my certainly be a cause for the check engine light to come on. It could also be an assortment of other issues.

You need to have it checked with a scan tool to know what codes are setting, it may have nothing to do with the gas cap.
