That light is the "water in diesel fuel" light. Ive had it on in my 405 diesel too. Does it look like a bucket with water in it with lines on the side? yellow?

YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK THE MASS AIR FLOW CENSOR. IT MAY NEED TO BE CLEANED OR REPLACED. ALSO MAKE SURE YOUR AIR FILTER IS CLEAN. if you really want to see what it is open the hood and have someone start it. Find the mass air flow sensor and as it is running tap lightly on it. If it straightens it out that is the problem if not i say go to the iac valve and replace it. That was a common problem with probes. The iac is called an idle air control valve and is usually around 60 to 80 dollars at autozone. ===================== The pins on the connector for the mass air flow sensor can become lax over time as well, causing the engine to not receive proper signals from the MAF. Take off the connector and push the metal connectors down so they apply pressure to the other side of the connection once it is plugged in again. Just something free to try first before buying parts. Also consider pulling the codes from the engine by jumping some test connectors in the engine compartment. Do some searching on the net, and you should be able to find out exactly how and what codes mean what. Check the main air intake hose as well, on the older model Probes at least, the hoses crack, and when gas is applied, the engine will move slightly, opening up the crack in the hose, and causing a massive vacuum leak. -Shaun

Most likely it means your oxygen sensor needs to be replaced. However, there are a couple of other reasons why. It is common for the Check Engine Soon Light to come on if you have recently filled up with gas and did not tighten the gas cap enough. Or, the gas cap is bad, allowing air to seep by. Check your gas cap first. If the check engine soon light does not go out by 4-5 trips, go to an autoparts store that will check the code for you.

There are dozens of reasons. But in most cars of this model some sensors just become old and have to be replaced. When sensors fail ECU sets off the check engine light.

I would try disconnecting the battery....that may reset the computer chip.

The Check Engine light comes on when the ECU detects something is wrong with the emissions system on the vehicle. You will need to have the ECU scanned with an OBD2 scan tool. The Maintenance Required light comes on to alert you to the fact that some scheduled maintenance, as outlined in your owners manual, is due. It can be as simple as an oil change or can be something else. Look in your owners manual to find out what service is needed.

Lack of heated upstream oxygen sensor switch. Sensor indicates lean bank one. The code refers to an O2 sensor that shows a lean condition. Buy or borrow an engine code scanner and see what's wrong. It may not solve all of the problems but at least it will give you an idea of some of the difficulties that the computer detects.

sounds like a problem in the ground or the main monitoring ecu for the system. your vehicle has the obd2 tester, have them run it and see if it give you a direction to go. the srs is important to work. that is for the air bags. the check engine light is usually a bad oxygen sensor. hope it helps. duboff

On Kias and Volkswagons (and maybe others) this light comes on if you don't screw the gas cap on tight enough. Try it, it saves a pile of bucks for having the mechanics check and replace the "thermin wire" or "muffler bearings" (and tighten the gas cap)

It could be the )2 sensors are old and tired but most often it means the Catalist needs to be replaced.
