How do you disconnect the torque converter in a 1990 Beretta so that when you get off the highway the engine wont die?

1. It is a big square black plug on the side of the pan if you look from under the car it has 4 connectors. This may be where the plug is located for a 1990.

2. PROBLEM: Engine stalls while slowing down, coughs, tries to quit, then quits, startup then stalls and dies. then start up and its ok.

This pertains to the plug location on a 1992 3.1L. This plug is visible from above after opening the hood near the radiator next to the tranny....

If the car has a 3spd automatic (TH125). How to test it...look on the front (closest to the radiator) driver side of the tranny for a 4 prong plug...this is the TCC plug....unplug it and drive the car. If the problem goes away then you can replace the solenoid or drive it with it unplugged...it WON'T HURT THE TRANNY!! You will suffer on mileage though. This is sometimes refered to as the Xmsn Lock out.

1992 Chevy Beretta where does the vacuum hose on the top of the trans go to?

The only vacuum hose I can think of is on the 5 speed.....perhaps the auto has it to. Not sure. It is simply a pressure relief. You'll see a steel line mounted near the driver side strut tower. The vacuum line from the trans goes to this steel line. The other end of the steel line is just vented to outside air. It doesn't hook to anything.

How do you replace the ignition cylinder located on a 1992 Chevy Beretta?

I had this problem on a 90 beretta. If ignition cylinder is the same as ignition coils then it shouldn't be to terribly hard . you just need a warm garage to do the replacement. I suggest going to a junk yard and finding your same make and model (doesn't have to be exact) because you'll want the entire piece which includes the ignition module and two coils. research on the internet how they look so you'll be able to spot it. under the car have it jacked up and put stands underneath the front part of the car. reach over the transmission fluid reservoir and there will be the ignition coils. IF IT HELPS FOLLOW THE SPARK PLUG WIRES DOWN TO IT. I think the bolt sizes are 1/4 in socket. and have a medium sized extension piece to get better access. it will be slow and tidious and there is something called LIMP HOME mode. it is where the vehicle will not accelerate and the engine shakes uncontrollably. don't trust the auto shop people i had my ignition coils tested and they said they were still good but after I replaced the same ones they ok'd it ran perfect. I spent alot of money that didn't need to be spent. ok

How do you replace a heater core in a 1996 Chevy beretta?

the heater core is located under the dashboard inside the car. right behind the radio. there is 2 covers that control the flow of air. the first is relatively simple. remove the bolts and pull it out, if it resists try to find what it is hung up on. then the second cover is what covers the actual heater core. remove that by removing the screws and it should come out also with relative ease. then on the outside of the car, almost to the bottom of the firewall, there are to hoses, one is your ac the is your heat, remove both of those and the heater core should be free other than four screws holding it in the car, remove those and it should come out. replacement is the exact opposite of removal.

Are the shims necessary for the 1989 beretta starter?

Hiya! Yes, Chevy likes to use shims to adjust the starter spacing so it meshes properly with the ring gear. They've always been funny that way. If you're getting abnormal starter grinding, noise or failure you need to re adjust the spacing for the starter. Your local parts store will have shims with different thicknesses. If the Bendix gear wont mesh and makes a sound like a cat being stomped on, you need to use a thicker shim. If your starter is spinning and not turning the ring gear use a thinner shim. You can usually tell by the sound when your starting the car if it needs adjustment . Good Wrench.

1996 Chevy berretta that has a water leak on the drivers side is there a drain plugged or maybe something else that is causing the problem?

I have the same problem. I've taken it into the shop where they supposedly re-caulked all firewall openings...none of which worked. I've been doing some research and someone suggested that the water leaks through the windshield wiper arm assembly and trickles down onto the floor on the driver's side. If it stops raining here long enough, I'll check it out but for now I have Lake Mead in my car.

Is there a air filter on a 94 Chevy Beretta 22 engine and if so where is it?

Yes it has a filter. Find the intake and follow the tube backward to the filter housing. The filter is inside this housing. Addition: The air filter housing is (when standing in front of the vehicle) directly behind the battery. There are 4 screws, one on each corner, on the housing that need removed to access the filter.

Why is the transmission of a 91 three one Beretta not shifting until the motor is red lined?

I would start by checking your transmission fluid. it is quitepossible that there is not enough fluid in the transmission causeing this problem, if this is not the case the plates in the transmission are screwed and you need major work done on the transmission or a new one. wolverine I would do a power flush & change the filter B4 spending the cash on a new tranny. i would check to see it there is a out put shaft speed sensor, if there is i would check 2 see if it is plugged in and working

The front end of my 1992 Chevy Beretta was shaking so I got two new front tires and a four wheel aligiment. The car still shakes on the front end and the rims aren't bent. What else could it be?

Check all of your front suspension bushings. Sometimes they dry rot. Make sure you check the control arms and shocks also. Get help doing this if you need to. ADDITION: Also, it may be a bad motor mount. could be a problem with the wishbone or track rodend possilbe bent strut as well

What type of antifreeze should you use in a 1990 Chevy Beretta GT?

Check the color of what is in there now...Green, orange, or clear? For your year it most likely will be the green stuff. The important thing is to match your system with what came out of it, if you mix the wrong combination it will eat up your cooling system!

How do you change a heater core in a 1994 Chevy beretta?

If it has the same interior set-up as a 96 beretta... it is not by any means easy. Especially if you have never done it before. The center console has to be removed first of all then it is wedged between the dash and floorboard. It took me about 3 hours. If you have the money I would take it to a dealer.
