Doesn't matter - if you open up the compressor, you open up the AC system. By law, this must be done by an ASE certified technician in an EPA approved shop with the proper equipment to evacuate and store the refrigerant. This prevents refrigerant from being released into the atmosphere.
Whenever the AC system is opened up, the receiver-drier (if it's a Thermal Expansion Valve system) or accumulator (if it's a Fixed Orifice Tube system) must also be replaced.
How do you realign a 99 cavalier z-24 stock sunroof it is stuck about 10 open?
my sunroof on my 2001 Z24 was also stuck. I took apart the screw drive and fixed it. Its a bit of work, but worth it! If you need instructions, molloy@engr.mun.ca I went to GM before and got estimate for a lot of money. in my 2000 cavalier the sunroof got stuck too. pull at the rubber lining around the inside of the sunroof (the one that seems like its just for looks) near the control button. then pull down on the inner roof cover and you'll see the back of the control button. there is an electrical connection there. see if it has come apart, which i was told it commonly does. mine was and i just clipped it back together and it worked perfectly.

A Z24 is normally luxury parts with a bigger 2.4L engine. Normally running around 150HP and 155lb torque. with normal cavaliers running to 130-140HP. Basically the Z24 is the sportier model of the cavaliers.

These auto transmissions are a real pain if you don't have a lift. The car must be level to check the fluid...but...this is how. The fluid should be at room temp. Raise the car,unscrew the plug that's on the tranny(real close to the oil drain plug). Lower the car, The level should be at the bottom of the hole, so if it runs out fairly slow...it is good. Put the plug back in. If it don't run out, add some dexron III or IV through the red fill plug on the top of the tranny until it does run out. put the plug in. "Sux don't it"

Hey, it's easy. Put emergency brake on. Open the trunk, look to the left and take off the round piece holding the mechanism. Just turn the little screw thingy counterclockwise--then go up front and unlatch and pull your roof down manually---then go back and tighten up the screw clockwise. When I found out how much it cost to replace the mechanism so it would work automatically, I figured manual's much easier and cheaper!

Well yes you can swap any engine into any vehicle that you choose. Swapping in the neon motor would require the PCM, wire harness, motor, trans, and possibly the key switch ( if your neon had the SKIM anti theft system, unless you go stand alone fuel management and eliminate the stock PCM ). The funny part about this is that Im considering the opposite dropping a chevy 3.1 and 5spd from a 89 cavalier z-24 into my 2001 Plymouth neon. I just think the chevy motor is way more reliable then the the 2.0L.

Can a Bad or defective Water Pump Cause a Thermostat to Fail or Work in properly?
NO is the answer. But ponder this. The thermostat works because as the temperature in its base gets hotter it opens and allows hot water to move into the radiator where it cools and goes back to the engine. Transfer of heat and all. But if there is a bad or defective water pump then the hot water does not get there to open the valve and the engine over heats. Too little water can also do the same thing. Is there a problem you are having specficially?

the fuel pump is located on top of engine behind the fuel filter. if you are not mechanical it is a 12 hour job at a shop to change. if you are mechanical, it is a prick to change , but can be changed in about 1 1/2 hours. do make sure when you purchse new pump that buy O rings for fuel lines where they go into raer of heads. these O rings do not come with pump and are the first things to be reinstalled when you replace pump. u also do not need to remove turbo or exhaust as book says

Removal of the turbo is not necessary! If you are good you can do it with it on. Done dozens of them and never had to remove it. Just need some patience and maybe a couple home made tools if you have the diaphragm style. Also it is NOT a 12 hour job. Even my dealership which typically charges more only quotes this repair at 4-5 hours depending on the style of pump. If it has the flat round diaphragm then its more time due to the diffeculties getting it off sometimes. Home made tools work great to help remove the component. Good luck and the repair should not be more then 5 hours labor.

depends on if it is the input sensor (mounted in the transmission) or the output (on the passenger side transaxle)
no there is a left and right if you moved one to the other side the track for the window would face toward the out side of truck window would not mount to regulator.
