# Turn the crankshaft and position the engine so the No. 1 piston is at TDC on the compression stroke (firing position). # Disconnect the negative battery cable. Drain the coolant. # Support the engine with a floor jack and remove the right engine mount. # Raise and safely support the vehicle. Drain the engine oil. # Remove the oil pan and oil pump pick-up tube. If necessary, remove the transaxle inspection cover. # Remove the right front wheel and inner fender splash shield. # Remove the accessory drive belt. # Remove the air conditioning compressor and set aside. Remove A/C compressor mounting bracket. # Remove the crankshaft pulley. # Remove the idler pulley from the engine bracket and remove the bracket. # Remove the camshaft position sensor. # Remove the timing chain cover from the engine. Make sure the oil pump inner rotor does not fall out. Remove the 3 O-rings from the coolant passages and the oil pump outlet. # Remove the camshaft sprocket attaching cup washer and remove the timing chain with both sprockets attached. Remove the timing chain snubber. # Remove the crankshaft sprocket using a suitable puller tool.
Fig. 2: Measuring timing chain stretch and wear-3.3 and 3.8L engines
To install: # Assemble the timing chain and sprockets. # Turn the crankshaft and camshaft to line up with the key way locations of the sprockets. # Slide both sprockets over their respective shafts and use a straightedge to confirm alignment. # Install the cup washer and camshaft bolt. Torque the bolt to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm). # Check camshaft end-play. The specification with a new plate is 0.005-0.012 in. (0.0127-0.304mm) and 0.012 in. (0.310mm) maximum with a used plate. Replace the thrust plate if not within specifications. # Install the timing chain snubber. # Clean all parts well. Thoroughly clean and dry the gasket mating surfaces. Install new O-rings to the block. # Remove the crankshaft oil seal from the cover. The seal must be removed from the cover when installing to ensure proper oil pump engagement. The seal is installed from the front AFTER the timing chain front cover is completely installed as outlined below. # Using a new gasket, install the chain case cover to the engine. DO NOT adhere the new gasket to the cover. Make sure the lower edge of the gasket is flush to 0.020 in. (0.50mm) past the lower edge of the cover. # If necessary, rotate the crankshaft so the oil pump drive flats are vertical and position the oil pump rotor so its mating flats are in the same position. Make certain that the oil pump is engaged onto the crankshaft before proceeding, or severe engine damage will result. Install the attaching bolts and torque to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm). # Use tool C-4992 or equivalent seal driver to install the crankshaft oil seal. # Install the crankshaft pulley using a bolt approximately 6 in. (150mm) long and thrust bearing and washer plate. Make sure the pulley bottoms out on the crankshaft seal diameter. Install the bolt and torque to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm). # Install the engine bracket and torque the bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm). Install the idler pulley to the engine bracket. # Install the camshaft position sensor. # Install the air conditioning compressor and mounting bracket. # Install the drive belt. # Install the inner splash shield and the wheel. Torque the wheel lug nuts, in a star pattern, to 95 ft. lbs. (129 Nm). # Install the oil pan. # Install the motor mount. # Refill the cooling system to the correct level with a 50/50 mixture of clean, fresh ethylene glycol antifreeze and water. # Fill the engine with the proper amount and type of clean engine oil. # Reconnect the negative battery cable. Road test the vehicle and check for leaks.

How do you change front brake pads on a Chrysler Town and Country mini van?
Good instructions but I just finished and have a few other ideas. The caliper comes off in one piece followed by the caliper arm. The caliper is a 7MM Allen wrench and the caliper arm uses a standard socket, I believe 13/16th. I found that a c-clamp works very well to push the caliper piston back in. Leave on the old brake pad and place the screw end of the clamp on the old pad. Tighten the clamp until the piston is all the way in. This must be done in order to get the caliper and new pads back over the rotor. I had to buy new rotors and they are $35-45 a piece. If you can have them turned it waill save money but will take a couple extra hours. I am not very mechanical at all and I was able to complete this project fairly easy. There is also a very good website that has a few short video clips about changing brakes. It is about brakes in general and not a specific vehicle. It is www.expertvillage.com.
AnswerExcellent instructions!! The only thing I would add is to remove the cap from the master cylinder and place a lint free rag over the opening. This will allow you to push the caliper pistons back into the caliper MUCH easier. AnswerPut a jack under the control arm and lift the tire off the ground. Remove the tire. There are two bolts on either end of the back of the caliper. You will need a hex socket. If you don't have one, you can get them at Kmart, Autozone, or Pep Boys for not too much money. Remove the bolts. Take a screwdriver and pry the caliper forward to release the pads. If you plan to replace the rotors, then you can pry against the rotor face to release them. The object is to get the piston on the caliper to go back into the caliper. There may be a spring clip on the top of the brake pads where the pad meets the caliper. You can remove it easily when you get the caliper off.Remove the caliper, remove the pads. The pad on the caliper is held in by a spring. Pull the pad out laterally. Usually the new pads will have new springs to hold the pad tightly to the piston. Note: don't let the caliper dangle by the brake hose. I usually put a toolbox or jackstand under them to keep the weight of the hose.
I use a tool to push the piston all the way into the caliper. This will help when you get the new pads on to allow the loaded caliper to slip over the rotor easily. Replace the pads.
I have been replacing the rotors on the last few vans I fixed. Nowadays they are only 20-25 dollars. I get the old ones resurfaced and hang on to them. That is also an option rather than replacing them,if you arent in a hurry to use the van. That costs about 10-12 dollars per caliper to "turn" them. It may take a while for the store to turn them.
Replace the rotor, slip the caliper over it. Put fresh lube on the bolts to the caliper if provided. Push the bolts back into the caliper and screw them back in. I put them in fairly tightly. Check a Haynes manual for torque listing on the bolts. (I just snug them up and give one good pull on the wratchet. I usually havent needed to rebleed the brakes. As long as you didnt disconnect the hose, you shouldn't have to.
I have done maybe 50 brake jobs in my life. They are all similar. Since you are going to save a few hundred dollars doing your own brakes, splurge for a manual. I still read them and I don't need to. Hope this helps.
I found that the caliper will hang on the spring if you turn it over, just be careful not to knock it off. What is the point of the lock washer on the stud, except to hold the rotor in place for reassembly, I hope that is all it is for because it pretty much got destroyed in the disassembly process.
I'll also include a How To video below in the related links section.

How to change a starter on a 95 Eagle Summit?
it is not that easy but what i did without a manual was look on the computer for the location of it. LOL anyway i have a 95 eagle summit dl 1.5L engine 5 speed trans. and if you are looking at your car from the front the starter is on the left side right behind the trans. on top. so what i did was remove the air filter/ hose, and there is only 2 bolts holding it on and make sure you make a note of where the wires come off the 2 bolts are at a slight angle from each other and the "top" bolt has the wires from the ground of the battery and a little clamp. break both bolts loose but remove the bottom one first ( makes it easier) after you get both bolts out it was not enough room to remove it from the top so next i moved it out enough to turn it upside down so i could remove the wire connected to the solenoid and there is a clip also that will come off with pliers. now the fun part, you have to jack up the car so you can get underneath, ( unless you have a garage and a lift) i did mine in the driveway anyway there is enough room to drop it through the drivers side bottom be careful because there is a wire connected to the engine and you don't want to break anything. it is a pain to get out putting it back was easier for some reason just feed it back through the same way and just let it rest on the bottom part of the engine and from up top again tighten the wire to the solenoid and put the clip back on and feed it back into place. you could probably take off all of those cables and hoses to take it out from the top but it is allot of stuff to put back...hope that will help you or anyone else to change a starter on your eagle summit 1.5 L engine also in case anyone was wandering a 1995 Mitsubishi mirage has the same engine body style etc.
