Alignment refers to the act of lining up the given parts of a given device in relation to one another.

You will smell it burning and your engine will slip as you pull away in first gear and while going uphill.

• For an automatic transmission, one of the first signs is when it's slow to shift into gear after you first start it in the morning. If it takes more than a half second to a second from the time you put it in gear until you feel it engage, the transmission valve body seals are starting to leak.
• After that, a failing transmission will start to "slip" when you accelerate. That feels more like you're sliding into gear rather than the nice, crisp shift of a tight transmission. Either condition can be caused by poor or inadequate maintenance. It's important to change the automatic transmission fluid and filter on any vehicle with more than 70,000 miles on it, then yearly after that. If a filter becomes plugged, you'll end up with low hydraulic pressure and the transmission won't be able to shift properly.
• When you have the fluid changed, they'll almost always tell you that you have sediment in the bottom of the transmission and often they'll tell you to have it rebuilt because of that sediment. If the transmission is shifting ok (crisp shifts), don't let them rebuild it. A little TLC often helps with transmissions.
• If you're asking about a manual transmission, they're going bad when they make strange, howling noises or if the synchromesh isn't working. Synchro can be affected by a clutch that won't fully disengage, but if the clutch is ok and it's still grinding or difficult to shift, you may need new synchro rings.

If not replaced having it resurfaced is recommended.

you more than likely have internal transmission damage(burned clutches,bands,steels...etc), unfortunatley theres no easy way around that problem. Your best bet would be to find a suitable replacement trans or see if you can find someone to rebuild it for a resonable price. Either way it is going to be a pricey situation.

Advice is to replace compressor the clutch goes bad only when the compressor goes bad on this model. They are sold to guys that rebuild compressors. Napa has the best price for clutches if you still want to try. Ebay there is a guy that sell rebuilt compressors for just a little more than the new clutch.

Sounds like the compressor is shot and it would be best to replace both. Unfortunately when the compressor goes bad it sends metal trash throughout the system. If you replace the compressor with out having the system flushed clean (which is almost impossible to do) the trash in the system will eventually destroy the new compressor.

That should be avoided, and probably isn't safe or legal. In the real world, however, its often required to get a vehicle to a place you can work on it. I'm assuming you can't shift, so a better question might be: "can you get the car home without stopping or shifting?" I admit I've done it, and even shifted a little (with no slave cylinder to work the clutch with) I hear it's not nearly as destructive to the clutch as it seems like it would be. Be careful, and consider towing.

The clutch should last approx 150,000 miles. There is no need to replace this if it isn't abused

same thing started happening on my '97, you will probably need to have a new clutch cable installed. when they get old, sometimes they will start to fray which causes them to stretch and causes your pedal to become sticky.

Not really-however, buy a replacement from Nissan. We have had non-Nissan clutches range from lasting a few months to bad out of the box.

fill the clutch resivoir pump the clutch pedal open the bleeder screw and tighten it back up and repeat until the air is out and just fluid comes out

Hi, if you look at the pedal, there is a 10mm bolt, adjust it out to make the pedal higher, or adjust it in to make the pedal lower.

I've heard of people using a 3-jawed puller. The compressor is a ford FS10/Motorcraft YC-189. You'll need a tool to hold the clutch so it doesn't spin. A universal clutch holder tool (rent from local auto parts place or buy, about $20) will help. I'm about to replace the compressor on our 99 so if I get more details, I'll post.

i have the same isue come to find out my heater core is leaking run ur ac if theres a puddle around were the firewall is under ur truck thats at it is if not im not sure but its the last thing u have to check

If the clutch system uses hydraulics, the flywheel should be shimmed the amount that was removed. Removing material from the flywheel moves the pressure plate away from the throwout bearing by the amount that was removed.

add clutch fluid to the bottle and pump the pedal ....... it'll get you home .......... then check the master and slave cylinders (hope that no-one has messed with the gearbox) its money anyway

brake fluid, the clutch works the same way your brakes do.

park/neutral switch mazda 6 04 is just above bottom gearbox mount !
