Where is the gas filter in a 1998 mercury villager located?

First generation Villagers up until 1998 have the fuel filter located in the engine compartment and it's tension clipped on the driver's side firewall. It's an unpainted steel cylinder about 2 inches wide with a fuel line clamped to the top and bottom end. However, my 1998 Villager has the fuel filter located beneath the vehicle clamped on the driver's side floor pan inside the frame rail about half-way between the engine and gas tank.

How many miles before replacing a Lincoln Town Car engine?

The engine in your Town Car should last hundreds of thousands of miles. As long as you keep up on your regular maintenance and periodically (once a year?) check to make sure the engine is running properly (take it to a mechanic who has a very expensive looking diagnostics computer in his garage) you shouldn't have any trouble over the life of the rest of the car. Fords 4.6L has been known to last over 400K miles when taken care of. Your real question should be "how long with the transmission last?" To that I don't know the answer (yet).

What type coolant is recommended by the manufacturer for a 2001 Buick Regal?

Unless there are big stickers saying otherwise, any vehicle will use ethelyne glycol based anti-freeze/boil-over protection coolant, such as Prestone, Prime, et cetera. Just beware of the 'really cheap' coolant, which is a 50/50 mix of coolant and water. Such is what you are supposed to add to the cooling system, but knowing how to drain the block is beyond most people, and, without draining the block, getting proper concentration in the cooling system using a 50/50 mix can be difficult. I recommend buying undiluted coolant, pouring out about a quart, and adding a quart of water to the jug, mixing well, and then adding to the cooling system. (Of course, this is after the cooling system has been properly back flushed to clean out sludge and corrosion.) Do not pour undiluted coolant into the cooling system, as it can corrode portions thereof before it mixes with the water in the cooling system. Do not run undiluted coolant in the cooling system, for the same reason. A 50/50 mix will protect a cooling system to about -45 degrees Fahrenheit, and if if gets colder than that where you live, you should be aware of the extra precautions you should take, such as block heaters, oil heaters, et cetera. It is necessary to have water in the cooling system for it to work properly, the anti-freeze is there to keep the water from freezing, not to act as a coolant on its own.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1993 GMC Vandura?

Your best bet is to just go to the library, and get the book there i have a 1990 and it was a pain. Had to remove the shard, fan, belt. Not alot of room to work with so when i was ready to rebolt it back up i used a steel rod to hold one side in place to bolt it back together. and for the shard that covers the fan i cut mine in half and put 2 bolts to reconnect it reason being is if i have to take it off again wont be a pain to get out. Works great

How do you change license plate bulb on a Durango?

may be a little help, http://xiaozei.cn/?a=xiaozei888

The above is absolutely bogus, and takes you to an oriental web page.

To change out the license plate bulb on your 2000 Durango:

1. Obtain square head #10 screwdriver to unscrew screws at either end of assembly, OR get replacement #10 Phillips screws from hardware store to replace them with (and remove square heads with a Phillips).

2. Remove rear license plate.

3. Remove aforementioned screws securing light assembly to bumper. (There's an aperture at the top-back for manipulation where the wire comes thru the bumper). Use it to enable you to twist the entire assembly and bring it down through bumper so as to access the back of assembly where light cord goes in. Don't worry, there's plenty of wire to allow you to do so.

4. Twist the base of the bulb socket and then remove socket from assembly.

5. Pull bulb straight out from socket, and replace with fresh #168.

6. Place socket back into assembly and twist to secure.

7. Reposition assembly back up into bumper, and secure with screws.

8. Replace rear license plate.

How many turns on tie rods in dodge durango to be in alignment?

There is no definite answer to that question. Each vehicle requires a different amount of adjustment on the tie rods to have the proper toe setting. That is why an alignment shop has the large fancy alignment machine.

On a Dodge Durango the ambient temperature sensor is used by the DPLV, heated oxygen sensor circuit and a transmission fluid temperature sensor , If the ambient temperature is not rational in regards to the engine temperature sensor the transmission temperature will adapt to a substituted temperature value,

this in turn will effect the 2-3 shift points on the transmission,

How to change the fan belt on 98 Durango V8 5.2l?

- 98 Dodge Durange Belt ReplacemeChanging the fan belt is fairly simple. You'll need to locate the tensioner pulley on the left side (passenger) side, right next to the alternator. FYI - it will be labeld on a little diagram on top of the radiator. Next, place a socket wrench on the bolt on the center of this tensioner pulley and apply pressure to the right (towards the driver side). Use a long handled wrench if you have one and you will need to apply quite a bit of pressure. You are just pushing against a spring - NOT taking it off. When the pulley is pushed over you can pull the belt off of the alternator right there on top. Release the pressure on the wrench and take the belt off. A few things, you may need to note the pattern of the belt IF you don't have the diagram on the radiator. The pattern is fairly simple and it is difficult to get it wrong. As a rule of thumb remember that the smooth pulleys contact the back or smooth part of the belt and the ridged pulleys contact the ridged side of the belt. Start off by putting the new belt on the bottom pulley and working up from there. Put the belt around all pulleys EXCEPT the top Alternator pulley. After your belt is in place you need to put the wrench back on the tensioner pulley and push it over to the right. Once it's pushed over you can put the final pulley (alternator) in the belt path. Putting the new belt on will be a little more difficult because it won't be stretched out like the old one and you may need someone to push on the wrench while you thread the belt over the last pulley. Best of luck!

Why is car overheating after changing the water pump timing belt and thermostat?

After changing all the necessary components chances are you wont be able to fill the system with coolant completely until you have ran the engine and if possible BLEED THE SYSTEM OF AIR. Air in the system will not allow coolant to flow.

A lot of things can cause overheating, a plugged up radiator, a pinch or obstruction in one of the coolant hoses ( someone used a floor jack on my daughters car and crushed a metal coolant line that runs alongside the oil pan), sometimes if the air is not burped out of the system coolant will not flow so check to see if the coolant is flowing through the radiator ( remove the rad cap and see if the coolant is swirling or sitting still), also advanced timing will heat an engine up. Be sure the thermostat is installed correctly as well, a backwards thermostat will mess things up.
