What causes a dodge truck to make a grinding noise in the front that happen off and on?

Are you Breaking when you get the grinding sound? Or attempting to switch to 4 wheel? Most common grinding sound I know is a worn out brake pad tearing up a rotor. Time for a brake job. New rotors and quality pads can be had for about 150 if you do the labor yourself.

Can you replace a 5 speed manual transmission you a 1999 Dodge Ram with a 6 speed manual transmission?

AnswerThe only way to replace the 5 with a 6 is very complicated, 1st you have to aquire both trans, then you will have to take a "plane depth horizontal band saw" and cut off the first 3" s of each bell housing. NOW you must produce a perfect weld and attach the 6speeds bell housing to the 5speeds bolt flange. If the weld isn't perfect and 110% level the pilot and throw out bearing will not line up. Next you will need an ossiliscope and a hi-tech certified computer programmer to adjust the new 6Speeds sensors to the existing ecu..

now for the hard part, you musr cut weld and fab in the new 6speeds cross member to hold the torque and weight changes.

weld up th old cross member holes, allign and drill the new ones alling with a steel saft retainer. " a peice of angle iron next to it to reduce stress on the bolts. after all that u may gain 20mph on your top speed and about 15 lbs tq in 1st and 2nd.... and losts more shifts

You won't gain any top end speed, the 6th gear is located between the 3rd and 4th gear in a 5 speed transmission.

Is the home mechanic able to change the front wheel bearings of a 1992 Toyota Camry or does it have to be taken in to a specialist for pressing the bearing on?

Can't be done at home unless you have a shop 'press'.Bearing has to be pressed off/on. Take steering knuckle off vehicle and take to a shop to have old bearing pressed off and new one pressed on-that'll save you some dough.

What is wrong with the cruise control on your 1993 Nissan 240sx SE if all the buttons work the light comes on in the dash but it won't set?

I have experience in this area. Assuming that the fuses and relays are working properly, and the green LED lights up on the "CC On" dashboard switch, ABSOLUTELY do this next: First: Check the vacuum hose on the Actuator Assembley (located conveniently on right side under the hood near firewall) for integrity, cracks, and proper seating. Replace the hose if it is cracked, split, or dry rotted ... or, cut off the bad secton and re-connect to the Actuator Assembley (if there is enough length left). Take the car out and test the CC (about 30 MPH minimum is necessary for CC to engage. Second, if the above does not apply, check that the interlock micro-switches for the brake and clutch pedals are making contact with the rubber bumpers located on the ears of each pedal, and that they are properly adjusted. These bumpers can dry rot, split, and fall out of the holes that they are inserted in, and thus the switches will not "bottom out" to close the contacts when the pedals are released and normally back. The switches are "normally open", and when the pedal is applied it opens (breaking the circuit) and disengages the Cruise Control. These switches (adjustable) must be "closed" when the pedals are released back to their normal position ... allowing the CC to actuate when "Cruise" or "Resume" is selected on the Steering Wheel. Easy Access Hint: Remove the screws from lower cover panel (below the steering column) and just let it drop freely. You will now be able to visualize, analize, test, adjust, and access the switches and bumpers more easily. Please share back your experience using this technique. kevin_justice@yahoo.com

How do you change the throttle position sensor on a 1995 mustang gt?

to make it easier, take off the airbox/intake, remove the IAC connected to the throttlebody, the TPS is connected to the throttlebody by 2 Phillips screws. Be sure not to mess up the head of the screw it'll be impossible to take off.

Where is the intake air temperature sensor on a 1993 GMC Yukon?

Look along the air intake passage front to throtle body; I'm sure it's there somewhere. Many parts houses on the Internet have component locators, try NAPA or Autozone, Shucks....many local libraries have on line resources for auto repair. You might find a component locator there as well. Go buy a Haynes Auto Repair manual for your car.

Where is crank position sensor on dodge srt10?

It's on the passenger side of the engine. About halfway down the motor just in front of where the motor mounts to the frame....you'll see a plug with a wires coming out of it. Mine had an aluminum foil type covering on the wires. Use a 7/16" deep socket to remove it.....you can't see it from the top of the engine, you have to crawl under the truck.....very simple install though.....good luck

Why does my ac blow out the defrost vents instead of the dash vents on your 1994 dodge Ram 1500?

Your blend door is probably not working properly. It may be a result of a vacuum line off, or a leaking vacuum motor. Whatever it turns out to be, it will mean digging into the dash and standing on your head. You may get lucky and find that the door is simply jammed with something that fell down through the plenum but you'll still spend a lot of time with your head under the dash. Start by ruling out that the switch is not bad. When you select defrost, you should hear the blend door closing.

Is a 383 engine a dodge engine?

Yes and no. Dodge did make a V8 engine that displaced 383 cubic inches from the factory. However, a Chevy 350 can be modified to displace 383 cubic inches if you bore the cylinders .030" over and replace the entire rotating assembly (pistons, connecting rods, and crankshaft) with a shorter compression height set of .030" overbore pistons, either factory length or longer connecting rods, and a crankshaft with a 3.75" stroke. This Chevy 383 is quite popular among hot rodders and drag racers.
