What causes bluish color on exhaust pipe of a disel engine?
The heat of the exhaust gasses will turn some polished exhaust pipes blue. This is very common with stainless steel exhausts.
A little bit of smoke is not bad.
Especially when you drive an old car.
But when you drive a recent car(2013) it could be something in your catalythic converter.
If so... drive by your mechanic.
Can you mend exhausts by soldering?
Welding or brazing perhaps
Replacement is best Solder has too low a melting point to be good in such a high temperature environment. After running the car for a few miles, you could apply the solder to the muffler and it will melt without a torch or soldering iron.
What would cause a car to turn off suddenly when driving?
Depends very much on WHICH car - YOU didn't say !
Typical things would include fault in ECM, distributor shaft broken, engine seizure, gas pump failure, etc. -Much of this depends on diagnosis of exactly how/when it happened. -Give more information and you will get a better answer.
What causes Blueish white smoke and loss in power?
Water in the combustion chamber. Probably a blown head gasket. Mega dollar repair. :(
Why would engine sound deeper after oil change?
if the oil body is different the sound will change...did you use oil of the same viscosity?
I as well have a 1989 Sentra that would do the same and the problem was that when the engine got warm, the oil started to leak into the distributor. The oil would mess up the ignition timing, hence the poor idle and non burn issues. Take apart your distributor and see if there is any oil in it. It is very easy to take off the car, 2-12mm bolts DO NOT turn the engine over while the distributor is out, and make sure it goes in the same way it came out (rotor pointing in the same direction). Good luck!
if this is a newer car 1996+ it will be a obdII scanner needed you don't have to warm up the car to pull a code unless you want to see the freeze frames and how the system is switching but yea all you would do is plug in the scanner and turn the key to the run position but do not start
Why does white smoke and burning smell come from the exhaust after an oil change?
You most likely overfilled with too much oil. That burning smell is your burning oil.
White smoke can be indicative of many things depending of where it is emitting from, but the fact that this only happened after your recent oil change almost certainly points to overfilling.
What causes white smoke coming from the exhaust continually and lack of power?
In most cases white smoke means you are burning gasoline inefficiently, black and gray are usually oil, however, that's the extent of my knowledge.
Why does exhaust manifold glow red hot?
Check to see if the engine is overheating, then check the exhaust system to see if it is clogged. If it is clogged, find out the reason why before just replacing exhaust components.
------------------------
I have seen this problem 3 times, once it was because the distributor was in wrong and the ignition timing was way off, the second time i saw the problem i found a bad Throttle Position Sensor. The third time i found that the timing chain had jumped a few teeth and thrown off the valve timing. A clogged exhaust system will not cause this problem as i have seen numerous (completely)clogged Catalytic Converters and the chief symptoms are: lack of power or no start.
An overheating motor will not cause this problem either. I've lost count of how many overheated motors I've seen and that has never caused a glowing exhaust.
I would begin by using a timing light and check ths base timing, then scan the motor to see if you have a bad Throttle Position Sensor.
Why would a car stall while you are still driving and is stalling as you sit in idle?
either fuel is not being delivered to combustion chamber or ignition system cutting out eliminate one system and go to work on the system that's causing trouble
it could be the coolant temp unit. it senses the engine temp and adjust the throttle occordingly so the engine can easly worm up to operating temp. when i first start my 1990 tracker up, it will idle at around 2,000 rpm until it warms up then it will idle at around 700 rpms.
automatic idle switch.Nah. Supprised that your engine hasn't 'gernaded'! Something's mechanically sticking in WOT (wide open thottle) when you first start up; like the throttle plate/accellerator cable???
Here are a few causes of fuel odor, regardless of the year or make of the car or truck: * leak in fuel feed or vent line. * tank overfilled! * Evaporative emissions system canister clogged. * vapor leaks from system lines. fuel presure regulator, if this does not operate correctly it dumps too much gas into your engine!! http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCase=S001&UserAction=viewSimpleDiagInfo&Parameters=info
Can fuel stabilizer cause smoke from tailpipe its white didnt notice it before?
No. White smoke is a symptom of coolant entering the combustion chamber. Stop driving the car and have it looked at by a professional. Serious engine damage will occur if it is indeed coolant in the combustion chamber and you continue to run the engine.
How to reduce diesel engine noise?
i have the same problem, my Audi a3 tdi 110 seems to be running louder than most diesels engines.
== == REPLACE ONLY WITH FLEXPIPE - MUST BE WELDED IN - USUALLY AROUND $100-150 AT A MUFFLER SHOP.
What causes oil to blow into carb from valve cover?
PVC stuck open.Bad rings calapsed,Busted piston skirt.
How is a car's gas tank vented?
In the old days they just stuck a vent hose out the top of the tank. Now they run that hose to the engine compartment and burn the fumes under the proper conditions.
Whats wrong when the two middle cylinders on a 95 BMW m3 leak oil on the exhaust manifold?
cylinder head gasket leaking.
Can anything other than a blown head gasket cause white smoke to come from the exhaust?
Intake manifold or it's gasket, cracked head or block are other possible causes.White smoke may seem evident if you do short drives and moisture is built up in the exhaust from not getting hot enough.
The only common head gasket on the Taurus (FORD) is their 3.8 motor. It usually surfaces between 60,000 and 100,000 miles.
What does an exhaust manifold gasket look like for a 1986 Honda Prelude?

The emissions system used in cars is a system which is designed to restrict the amount of pollution cars produce. Newer cars have system which prevent both Evaporative Emissions and harmful Exhaust Emissions. The Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) system prevents the escape of unburnt fuel vapor form the fuel tank, the fuel lines, and the engine. The Exhaust system uses at least one Catalytic converter, which is used to burn off gasses produced by the engine. On newer cars, both the EVAP and Exhaust are monitored by the vehicle's computer, which can alter the way the engine runs and can warn the driver of EVAP leaks.
