How do you adjust the idle setting on 1990 Mazda mx6?
There are 2 adjusting screws new the metal air intake body. The Phillips is mounted by the dual cables for the throttle and and if for adjusting the intrenal butterfly ONLY - DO NOT TURN IT!!
The IDLE speed is adjusted by the slotted screw (uses a straight screw-driver)- NOT Phillips head screw on the air intake housing. This screw in in the metal body of the air intake. I asked a local deal service dept and got great advice: Turn it clock wise until you hear the idle speed slow, check the RPM's.. should be appox 900rpm. Turn the screw 1/4 turn at a time - WAIT 30 secs for the onboard computer to adjust... still too fast? Give it another 1/4 turn until you get the idle rpm to appox 900rpm.
it MAY run a little rough on cold starts after this adjustment: IF So turn it back COUNTER_clock wise and 1/8 of a turn at a time to 'tweak" the cold start. I did it after a few days of trail & error..
good luck!

Why does your 1987 Yamaha Banshee keep blowing the head gasket?
1. make sure the cylinder surface is clean of all debris.
2. most important: make sure the stock cylinder head surface is flat and also clean. if the surface is not flat it will never seal right. you can get it milled or you can do it yourself with fine metal bodywork sandpaper, about 400 grit, a piece of non tempered glass, glass must be flat and tempered glass has waves in it so you must use raw glass. you can pick a piece at any hardware store for little money. lay the glass on a workbench, lay the sandpaper on top of the glass with the sanding side up, grab the head with one hand and with the other hand hold the sandpaper straight and flat on the glass and make several circle 8 patterns until the sanding marks become even on the head. you will see the difference from when you first start with a warper head to when the sanding marks become even. make sure you clean the head thoroughly when done. this will create a flat mating surface on the head. just dont go to far because you will get too deep in the squish band area, just go far enough to get the sanding marks even.
3. make sure the torque of the head nuts is correct and that the sequence numbers on the head are followed. i believe the torque spec is 15 lbs for the head nuts but check the banshee repair manual just to be sure.
4. make sure that the bike is not overheating while riding. purchase a inexpensive inline temp gauge that goes in the radiator hose between the engine and radiator. if you think the bike is overheating this will tell you for sure.
5. if overheating, check all cooling components, radiator cap, water and coolant level and mixture, overflow tank level etc.
hope this helps. MC.

How do you remove rear brake drums from a 2002 Toyota Sienna?
1. For your own safety, put stoppers on the other 3 wheels. DO NOT put the foot (hand) brake on or you will have difficulty in removing the brake drum. 2. jack and remove the wheel. 3. pull the drum off and rock and tap slightly if there are rusts or debris that preventing the drum pull out, no hammer is necessary! There are two 8x1.25mm threaded bolt holes in each drum that you can run bolts through and it will push off the drum. Just changed my rear brake shoes last weekend and this worked perfectly to get the rusty drums loose.
How do you change the brakes on a 1997 ford escort?
I just did mine last week on a 96 wagon (1.9L), and it's kind of amusing. Remove the tire, caliper, and your brake pads are on 'rails', that allow them to slide side to side. Remove the pins, pull rails out, replace pads. There are a lot more steps, but i am extremely exhausted from work. I am going to bed, I'll write more tomorrow :P

How do you remove a rear brake drum from a 1993 Toyota Corolla?
fully retract the brake adjuster and strike the outer side of the drum with a BIG hammer
New Answer HeadlineFor earlier models, e.g. 1989 station wagon (estate), the answer is to have the handbrake off, jack up rear wheel, remove wheel, pry off cap from wheel nut (using a flat screwdriver), remove wheel nut (remove locking pin, nut), and slide off the whole drum and the wheel bearing. No hammering is needed at all.Dodge Intrepid Lost HVAC Heat Q. On my 1993 Dodge Intrepid, I lost heat for no reason. The fan works, I checked the fuses, they are fine. It only blows cold air down on my feet even if I put the setting on Defrost only. I checked the hoses coming into the firewall and they are both hot. The car is not overheating. Could this be the core? Your help is awesome. You fixed my other problem. Dodge Intrepid Dash Light WeirdnessLaurie A. If there is no heat at all, but the modes change as normal, then the possibilities get narrowed down quite a bit. Since you did not mention if this has Manual Temperature Control or Automatic Temperature Control I'm going to assume it is a manual system. The most likely possibility is a bad Blend Air Door Actuator. The temperature door actuator is located at the bottom of the heater housing at the center tunnel. Remove the three screws holding the actuator and turn it so you can see the drive. Upon removal, note the shaft position of the actuator, because the shaft on this motor is keyed. As you change the temperature setting, the drive should move one way or the other. If it does, then the Blend Air Door is stuck or broken. If it doesn't move, then the problem is with the control panel or the wiring in between the control panel and the actuator.

Will a Holley 5200 off a Ford Pinto fit a 2.3 Isuzu engine?
Yes, but if you're looking for performance, you might want to go with something bigger, like a weber dges.
To get a holley 5200 to fit on your engine, you have a few options. The easiest would be to see if you can get a redline weber adapter plate. Check their website, http://www.redlineweber.com/HTML/application_guide/ISUZU.htm and see if your exact engine model is listed there. The weber dgv 32/36 carb has the same base pattern as the holley, the holley is actually a liscensed copy of the weber. Try to get an adapter plate for your engine off eBay or something, and the holley will bolt right on to your stock intake manifold your second option, if you can't find an adapter plate for your engine, is to have a machine shop make a plate or modify your intake manifold to fit the carb. A third option is to build a custom intake manifold, but don't even think about this unless you know what you're doing.
Can you adjust the idle on a 1989 Pontiac Sunbird?
Idle speed cannot be adjusted on this model. No manual adjustments available. Problem may lie in fuel pump, or fuel filter or temp sensor.
the belt is most likely broke.
There are several reasons as to why a transmission would grind and not shift into gear. The problem could be cumulative therefore the problem could be 1 or a number of issues compounding the problem. The transmission has many valves in it that push transmission oil through. When you shift gears, if the valves are not able to push oil through, the transmission has a difficult time shifting, if it can at all. The transmission also has a magnet in it that essentially picks up small bits of metal that have been grinded by the gears. The constant grinding of the gears does a number of things. First, it wears down the gears leaving a lot of little pieces of metal that are then picked up by the magnet. Through years of wear and tear, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what happend....the gears become worn down. Second, the gears themselves could be slightly bent, meaning they no longer have their perfect form which of course can complicate shifting. Transmission oil change are not always the solution for these types of problems. Often the build up of metal and old oil is what is keeping the transmission together, other times a transmission oil change will allow for a thorough cleaning and flush any build up in the transmission away. I suggest you see a transmission specialist who can determine the best way to go forward.
