If the switches and compressor work fine but no power gets to the ac compressor on a 1999 Ford Escort where can the relay that needs to be replaced be found?

Check the pressure switch on the dehydrator bottle. Disconnect it and "jump" the connector with a short piece of wire. If this works then you either need a charge or the switch is bad. The dehydrator bottle is a silver "pill" looking canister about 8 to 12 inches long. It SHOULD have a hire harness going to it (and of course A/C hoses). There is where you will find the switch. How do you remove the head on a 1998 ford escort 2.0?

There are approximately 38 steps to take off the head and the procedures are different depending on whether it is a 2.0 SPI or a 2.0 Ztec. Get a manual at the parts place. It has step by step procedures and pictures to guide you along. It would take more space than I think they would like us to use in this forum to explain the whole prodedure.

Where is the idle air control valve on a 1998 escort?

It is on top of the throttle body. If you follow the air intake up past the air filter assembly you come to a point where this molded rubber asssembly connects to the motor. The IAC valve has two bolts and a wire that connects to it. Sometime a code indicating a problem with the IAC valve may be tripped by a bad PCV valve. Consider replacing the PCV valve first since it is only a $3 part.

Is it open says me or open sesame?

It's "Open Sesame." That is the English translation of "Open Simsim" which are the magic words Ali Baba used to open the cave of treasure in the tale Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.

However, in the version of the story featuring Popeye in the Ali Baba role, he does in fact say "Open, sez me."

Where is the horn on a 1990 Ford Probe LX?

I think it's near the front driver side wheel well ..and that's about all I know If I find out more I'll post it..

AnswerI have a 90' GL and the horn is on the passenger side in front of the tire under the bumber skirt. AnswerI have a 1990 Probe LX, and I had to replace the horn. You'll need to take off the Driver's Side Front Wheel. Remove the shielding to the front of the wheel, and it should be right there. Sometimes it has a weird mounting bracket, and if it's a wiring problem, you're gonna have issues, but if you're just replacing the horn, it shouldn't be a problem. OEM horns are a signel-wire connection, so make sure your horn has that option.

Where is the thermostat located on a 1997 Ford Escort?

If you follow your spark plug wires to where they all plug in to a black "box" you are right above it. You simply have to remove this box and holder and the radiator hose goes right below this area. Remove the hose, remove the bolts and you will find the thermostat inside this area.

The Rear defroster switch on your 1995 Ford Escort does not stayed engaged after pushing the button but will work if you hold it is there a relay for this function or do you just replace the switch?

replace the switch... there is a spring steel L shaped clip that goes around a V shaped slide and that plastic slide breaks on them... i have the same problem and looking for a used switch cause the ford dealers want $112.00(can) for a new one. I suggest buying any toggle/push-button switch and rewire it (as the ford switch will break again). A new switch from Radio Shack (or equivalent) is easy to install and will only cost you just $5. Here's the wiring info for your convenience: (The stock Ford switch is a 5 terminal switch)

How to you adjust the idle speed?

How to adjust the idle speed

If you have a carburetor, there is a crew on the driver side behind the throttle cable it usually has a spring on it if you turn it to the right it idles up left it idles down

If its a fuel injected motor idle is handled by the computer. There usually is a "base idle speed" around 800-1000 RPM. This normally doesn't need to be adjusted.

Have a look for carbon build up on the butterfly as well, this will influence idle too.

u can also adjust the cable there's two nuts that hold the the cable to the injection adjust one way to lower and the other way to raise

Also: check & tighten all hoses as even slightly leaking hoses raise & lower ur idle speed.

The "inertia switch" which shuts off fuel to the engine in the event of a collision or jolt on a 1991 through 1996 models, as well as on 1998 coupes, is located in the rear of the vehicle, near the right (passenger's side) strut tower. On sedan and coupe models, open the trunk and remove the right-sided trim panel. On sedan and coupe models, open the trunk and remove the right-side trim panel. On hatchback and wagon models, there may be an access door secured by clips. On some models you may need to remove the lower quarter trim panel on the right side, however it is easier to cut an access hole directly above the switch.
