What do you do when check engine light comes on in a 1999 ford escort lx?
Understand that the check engine light is usually triggered by a malfunction that affects the emission system. It usually doesn't mean that your motor is going to go bang. Take it to your mechanic, or many parts stores will scan the system for free. Once you know what code(s) are present, you'll have a better idea how to deal with the problem(s).
How do you replace tail light bulbs on a 1995 Corvette?
Where are the engine block casting numbers located on earlier model mustangs?
depends on the engine, on the 351, it is on the left side head deck/rear side. On the 302 it's near where the alternator is mounted, if you have the shop manuals, it will tell you on the first page for your particular engine.
Most Early Mustang engines (pre 1968) do not have the VIN number stamped into the block.. The exception being "K Code" 289 High Output equiped vehicles where engines were stamped with the vehicle number.
Additional info to above answer: Ford V-8 engine BLOCK casting numbers of all 1960 - later Ford V8s are located on a flat casting area nearest & under the starter. (Yes, you must remove the starter to see the whole number, bring a small brush and carbcleaner spray). If you practice upside down mirror reading and Yoga, then you don't need to climb under the car.
The casting numbers will be a 4digit - 4digit - 1digit format.
This gives block designation info as to Decade, year, car models, and part number and exclusive designation. Eg:
1965 289-2V or a 289HiPo will both share the same casting number for 65-66 C5AE-6015-E, except that the HiPo will additionally have the car VIN stamped nearest the oilpan gasket/rearward as a HiPo exception to prove Mustang powerplant bloodlines. Nobody forgot to stamp a VIN at the factory.
No other Mustangs had VINs stamped into engines.
Some people mistake the intake casting number on top of the intake manifold as the engine casting number, but alas, it's the intake casting number to give that part authenticity too. Check with a reliable source for part ID. I have disassembled many 64-73 Mustangs in California with a variety of 1yr Block/different yr head/intake/exhaust combos with claims of hypo-yada yada or secret Ford engine with common vin numbers. Many, many, older motors (of every brand) were assembled in the last 45 years with various off-year parts to try to achieve a special performance blend....some were successful.

How do you adjust the idle on an 1994 F250 truck 460 engine?
first of all did this engine come in this truck but to answer your question
if it is a carb turn both screws in all the and turn them out 21/2 turns
if it's fuel injection it's a screw in the throttle position area turn that screw
good luck
Hi If this vehicle is fuel injected My 91 f250 with a 460 is. The idle isn't adjustable, the idle is controlled by the computer ,the computer gives a signal to the Idle Air Control Valve,it is located just under the throttle body and bolts to the intake with two 8mm head bolts,it has a two wire plug at the end. This valve either needs cleaning or replacement. Many times cleaning does the trick; remove use a libral amount of carb and choke cleaner, the use some pb blaster to lubricate the slide inside.Or the valve is around 65 bucks and just replace it.
Don't start turning screws on the throttle body, these settings(min
imal air setting) are done at the factory and usually have blue lock tite on the threads.
This fix should be pretty simple and this way your truck will be back to speck
Take care

How do remove the rear brakes on a 1995 Cadillac Eldorado?
Your non-working instrument panel lights, tailights, and parking lights have ONE thing in common, they are controlled by the same switch which controls the headlights. The working brake lights do not even figure in the analysis as they are on a totally different circuit from ALL of those other lights. The headlights, tailights, and parking lights ARE on the same circuit, AND are controlled by different sets of contact points inside of the "headlight" switch. Although there may be more, I can only think of three causes for the symptoms you describe. 1. A loose, or disconnected wire or harness involving the circuit for those lights. 2. Corroded contact points within a connector in that circuit. 3. A defect [probably overheated, "cooked"] in the contact points for those lights INSIDE the headlight switch. I suspect that 3 is the cause, but due to cost of a headlight switch, and the difficulty in changing it, it would be a good idea to check out 1 and 2 first, as those problems do not generally require the replacement of any parts, only disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly. I suggest you eleminate numbers 1 and 2 first, then if that does not correct the problem, consider replacing the headlight switch.

How do you change a voltage regulator on a 1994 ford escort?
Hey this is easy... I have replaced and rebuilt a lot of different cars.. the ford like any other car has just a couple of bolts they may be a Philips or a metric bolts that should be removes
First you should locate "it'' there are wires pluged in to it so that makes it easy to find. unplug the power.. some peole disconnect the battery 1st before they work on anything electrical the reason for this is some cars run on a positve and not a negative grounded system this should not apply to this car.. so you could just unplug the wires that is where the regulator is located. most new alternators have a new set of bushings in them .. the only other reason you may need to work on any alternator is the berrings go bad and the sound is differend and you may want to think about rebuilding this part to keep the armitor aligned with the bushings to help them ware evenly.. but if its just not charging then it is easer to replace the regulator by just unplugging and unscrewing the bolts the maybe three or four some times there are only two. if its a bolt and not a phillips it could be a 7mm most cars even ford is headed that way. If you find that you have to replace it and don't want to get new barrings and you just want replace the alternator you can access the belts by removing the front tire and its easier to reach the belts and it will give you more room to work in such a small place so lady's if you want to tackle the voltage regulator you do not need to take it off it will take me 15-2=0 min to do this for my friend next week.. shes a single mom with three kids so 40 dollars for the regulator instead of 100-200 for a alternator and over an hour of labor is not in her budget. it should take less effort and time to just unplug and unscrew less then 20 even for some one who has never done it before.. almost as easy as installing battery in a child's toy. yes I do fix all my friends cars if they can not find a guy to do it for them. Yes women this is an easy thing to remove and replace. If you do not have the tools most auto parts store do have loaner tools and you could fix it burrowing tools Auto Zone is one company that i have used to borrow a tool, just ask when you go get the part. you may also have it shipped at home and you will not have to drive to get it. the regulator does charge your battery so you will not get you very far, sometimes this will kill a weak battery so be prepared to have the car jumped or even replace the battery as well.
Where is the blower motor fuse on a 1994 Ford Escort 18 L engine?
I'm pretty sure it's the black circuit breaker (not a fuse) on the top. when you open your fuse box ( under the steering column) it's #15. It's the only thing plugged in there that's not a fuse.

How do you replace the tail light bulb in a 97 Tahoe?
Open the tailgate. On the inside next to the tail light, there will be two plastic covers. Remove them. You will see a Phillips head screw deep in the hole. These hold the light in place. Be careful removing them because they can fall down inside the vehicle. Use a magnetic tip screwdriver if possible. The light will then pull out of the truck. Then remove the plastic light module from the tail light. All the bulbs are connected to this module. Installation is reverse of removal. Just be careful not to drop the screw in the body cavity.
Be sure to replace the O2 sensor. That's a big one especially if it's high miles and has never been changed. Answer Things to check/try in order to improve fuel mileage on almost any vehicle: 1) Tire Pressures. Are tire pressures no lower than manufacturer recommendation? Remember to check tire pressure in the morning (when cold), and that a 10 degree (Fahrenheit) drop in outside air temperature will decrease tire pressure by about 1 psi. Also, some tires, especially older ones, may "leak" up to 1 psi per month. If pressures are too low, try to visit a station near home, and put in 3 or 4 more psi than you want - after a few hours or next morning, check pressures and bleed any extra pressure. Why: tires may read 3 or 4 psi higher after a few miles' use vs when cold. 2) Alignment. May need alignment. Can't really tell without putting it on an alignment rack, unless it's pretty bad, in which case you may see uneven wear (especially on front tires). 3) Brakes. One or more brakes may be sticking (especially front). I've had this happen on BOTH our vehicles. 4) Bearings. One or more wheel bearings may be binding/failing (unlikely, but possible). 5) Oil. Are you using 5W30 oil in cold weather and 5W30 or 10W30 in hot weather? Changing oil AND FILTER regularly (at least as often as manual says)? 5) Vacuum hoses. Check that all vacuum hoses are secured and intact. 6) PCV. Replace PCV valve (as you face engine from front, it's way in the back left corner, almost as far as you can reach; narrow space so it's a bit tedious to change, but no tools required - about $5). 7) Wires. Are ignition wires in good shape (ie, no cracks, etc.)? 8) Other. One or more engine accessories (alternator, power steering pump, air conditioner, water pump, etc.) may be binding (unlikely but possible). 9) Heating and Air conditioning will have a lot on fuel consumption in addition to driving habits, city driving or highway driving. A big difference in fuel consumption when driving 60mph (~100kmph) and 80mph (~130kmph) on highways. Answer i would strongly suggest replacing the mass airflow sensor in this case. when they get dirty, the computer cant tell how much air is going into the intake, thus to the combustion chambers. so when it gets to the exhaust, the air fuel ratio sensors see alot of air. when these sensors see a lot of air (02), the computer holds the injectors open longer to compensate. this extra fuel adds up to loss of mpg!
Although this is a general question, I'll help clarify the specific situation that caused me to ask: I have a 2000 Maxima that rumbles violently at highway speeds, but less so--if at all--when steering to the right. There is an audible rumbling sound that is very loud and low frequency, much like tires on gravel or rough asphault. The effect is abscent below 30, noticable at 50, and violent at 70. i had that problem with my civic it was the wheel barring

How do you change the main fuse in a 2001 Kia Rio?
The fuse and relay compartment is under the hood on the drivers side fender well. The cover has a diagram and lables of all the fuses and relays etched on the inside. Explain "main fuse"
Blown head gasket is a distinct possibility, unless you just flushed and changed the coolant. In that case it is trapped air escaping.
