If you do not have a sunroof, check/reseal the bolts that hold the luggage rack down.
Where is the voltage regulator on a 1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo with the 4.0 HO?
The 1991 Jeep Cherokee voltage regulation is done by the PCM ( Power Train Control Module) located on the drivers side inner fender behind the air cleaner box. if the voltage seems to be low when the lights and A/C are on and normal when everything is off, you might have a bad PCM OR the grounds on the jeep need to be cleaned. the grounds are VERY important to the charging system in this year cherokee. clean them up, one is located on the - terminal on the battery to the body, the other is a large bolt on the motor by the dip stick with a bunch of ground wires on it, and the other is between the motor and the firewall on the drivers side firewall...clean them and see if it helps.
it tells the radiator fan when to turn on
What happens when you have the wrong firing order?
If you have the wrong leads going to the wrong spark plugs, then you will have a spark when the cylinder is somewhere other than where it should be, which is at the top of the compression stroke ready to drive the piston down and provide power. If you can start your car, it will be running very rough, have no real power at all and your gas mileage will be measured in gallons per mile. You are also running the risk of serious internal damage to the very expensive valves, so I suggest you fix it immediately.
Where is the fuel door release on a 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo?
Never mind... there isn't one. Didn't try pushing on fuel door. (Doh!)
Why will your 1989 mercury sable will go into reverse but not the three forward gears?
your filter is probably plugged or your fluid is burnt Additional info by Mandilon: If filter were clogged-up it wouldn't move in either direction. Burnt fluid; -ditto. The 'front' drum clutches are burned-up. The front drum clutches are 'applied' for all forward gears. Only the rear drum clutches and the reverse band are applied for reverse. Replacing the front drum clutches and seals will 'get it moving' thought it really needs an overhaul.
How do you fix an LED display on a Alpine radio?
Sorry, you can't. led's are not light bulbs, ergo they have no filiment. They seldom fail. You can test the device, by unsoldering one end so it is isolated from circuitry, Then use a volt-ohm-meter on a high scale for ohms. place the leads from the meter (one lead on one end, the other on the other led lead. It is just a diode and should conduct in one direction only. if you get an open on the first try, reverse the meter leads and if the ratio is > 20 to 1 after reversing the leads, the LED is good, and you either have a voltage bias problem or a bad soldier connection. So the diode only conducts in one direction, if it doesn't conduct in either direction the led has an open junction, and is bad. If it conducts in both directions it has shorted junction. remember to keep your fingers off the leads because you are a high resistance impedance, and will give a false reading. Leds have a MTTF of about 20 years depending on the on/off time and current drawn when biased on. sorry MTTF= mean time to failure.
What are the positives and negatives of owning a 2004 Jeep Cherokee Grand Laredo?
I own a Graphite (dark gray) 2004 GC Laredo. I commute in it, and take it 4-wheeling on some of the most rugged terrain imagineable, in the CO Rockies. It's a superb performer in all ways, and I love it.
POSITIVES: Even the trimmed down Laredo has solid Dana axels, great offroad capability thanks to the Quadra-Trak system, and large 16" rims with big snow and mud capable 225/75R16 tires from the factory. The ride is awesome for an SUV/truck and it inspires driver confidence. You sit up nice and high, nad have lots of steel around you, so you are safer then in a sedan. There is not a feeling that you might "top over" in cornering like some of the "hybrid" trucks such as a Fourunner. 2004 is the last year of the hardcore offroad GC's. The 2005's and after are more SUV and less offroader. If you want a smoother yet less capable ride go one year later. On the other hand, the pre-98 models were a very different vehicle still, and often have horribly high mileage and wear, and are best only considered by those that are prepared to deal with frequent mechanical issues. NEGATIVES: The Laredo is the lowest option package for this model. You won't have most of the fancy electrical system gadgetry that the LTD and ultimate Overland editions have. (Of course, if you intend to 4x4 this becomes a positive, since it's less things to break, and leather seats + mud is a bad combo.) Many have high mileage, or have been driven hard offroad, so be careful not to buy one where the factory warranty has expired, or get an extension/after-market warranty to be sure. The V-8 PowerTech engine gets between 18mpg city and 22mpg hwy, so if your looking for a grocery getter or soccer mom SUV perhaps consider something else. This ain't no mini-van folks, it's a real live "general purpose" recreational vehicle. It's harder to park, back up and otherwise maneuver this 3 ton beast than any sedan, so carefully consider if you really need this level of traction, or if a Subaru or even a smaller Liberty type might be more appropriate. Even the Laredo package is an expensive vehicle, with (as I write this) a nice low mildeage truck selling for $16K+. The LTDS and premium package models of this year still go for ~$20K which seems a bit much to spend on something nearing the end of warranty life, especially if you plan on abusing it offroad. Ediit: All depending on your Transmission, transfercase and trim level. If you can find a Laredo with the selectrac (242) and a V8 with minimal options it will last forever. For more info visit www.jeepforum.com of www.wjjeeps.com Research this first. The Jeep has a lot of unresolved issues with 'phantom' problems. I believe even a class action lawsuit over one of the issues. My wife owns one and I never knew the depth of the problems with the Jeep until I started researching it. I'd say DO NOT BUY but research and learn for yourself. Even the dealerships cant fix them. The factory is avoiding the issues. Educate thyself, buyer beware.

How often does a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo need an oil change?
The answer to your question depends on what type of oil you are currently using in your vehicle and how big said engine is. I have a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, with an 8-cylinder engine. If your engine is also 8-cylinder, on average (depending on the size of the engine) it could take approximately 8 quarts of oil (when in doubt, always consult your car's/truck's manual). If you are using conventional motor oil, you should change it every 4-5 months and/or every 5000 miles - whichever comes first. If you are using synthetic blend or full synthetic, which has less viscosity breakdown, it can last up to twice as much time, depending on the quality of the motor oil. I am not too given to brands, and you can probably do an internet search on it, but arguably the best is Mobil 1. I learned early that if you are going to go cheap, you should go cheap on gas but not on the oil you put in your car/truck.
Will 31 X 10.5 X 15 tires fit on your unmodified 1990 jeep Cherokee without putting a lift kit on?
yea they sure will but it may rub over large bumps
What causes damp passenger floor board on 2000 Lincoln ls?
I would check around windshield for leaks, door frames and the weatherstripping, feel up under dash to see where it`s wet or if wet at all,if not feel how wet it is closer to door, most likely weather stripping and such.Hope it helps. I had the tube for the sun room come disconnected from mine, and everything kept getting wet. What you do is take the o-darn handle off, pull the front pillar cover off, usually a snap fit component, and the seat belt cover (snap fit as well) be careful not to be to agressive. After you pull the roofliner down only on the side you are working on. You should see a small 1/8" tube that is disconnected from a drain barb. hook it up and enjoy a water free environment. Special note. on mine it just seems the hose shrank over time. It may happen again, but at least I put it back on there. It was a bummer in a down pour I could see water coming in the car driving down the road and the front piller was wet.

What would cause a 1995 Ford Escort to overheat in stop and go traffic but not on the highway?
If it's overheating, then it might be several things like: low coolant level, improper coolant mixture, faulty fan on the radiator, or it's relay that controls the fan. Or maybe even the water pump is on it's way out.
How do you release the rear liftgate on a 97 grand Cherokee Laredo it is unlock but wont open?
the door can stick closed if the latch mechanism isn't kept clean and lubed. To open it-you must go through the inside and pry away the plastic door panel. i used a plastic puty knife to avoid damaging the panel or door. Once you separate the pannel enough-reach your arm in and pull (up)on the latch lever. once opened you can grease the latch assembly and replace the panel. have fun!
You probably need to replace the engine thermostat. Locate the hose coming out of the top of the radiator & follow it back to the top of the engine. Where the hose attaches to the engine is where you will find the thermostat. If you have not performed a coolant flush on the engine in the last two years I would recommend to do that as well. A coolant flush should be performed every two years along with replacing the thermostat and radiator cap and aproximately three gallons of antifreeze ( dillute antifreeze to manufactuers specs.). All total I would estimate it will cost you 50 dollars if you do it yourself.
What is a good gear ratio for your 92 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0L 5 speed with 33 inch BFG's?

Where is the oil pump located on a 92 jeep 4.0L 6 cylinder?
ALL OIL PUMPS are inside the pan, at the bottom of the engine. You'll need to remove the pan to get to the oil pump. But you should know that they seldom go bad. Amost ALWAYS, low oil pressure is the result of worn main and/or rod bearings. If you are having oil pressure problems, immediately change the filter only, check and top off the crankcase. BUY a QUALITY filter, not the same brand you are using. A certain brand is known to have poorly chosen materials in the construction and they will fail, eliminating oil pressure to the engine on a random basis. Paying extra for a good filter will never add up to the expense of a ruined engine, it's no savings if you saved $5 on a filter and paid $1500 to repair it. If the pressure is not dangerously low, but you want to improve it, use a teflon based oil additive as they will pump up the pressure 15 to 20 pounds. Keep in mind that 20 pounds of oil pressure on the gauge at idle is normal for many cars when warm.
Remove support brackets from dipstick--then it should just "Pull-out" Lubricate "O" Ring prior to installation
You must have a hole in the heater core. There is an old remedy my dad used and that was putting ground black pepper in the radiator. The pepper circulates and the water pushes it into the hole if its not too large.
