How do you change the crank position sensor on a 1998 jeep?
The crank sensor is located on the bell housing/drivers side from the drivers seat it is @ the 10 o'clock position. This is not an easy job but anyone can do it.
Raise the vehicle, take a screw driver & carefully pop the shift linkage off. Move the cable out of the way. If you remove the front drive shaft it is a lot easier. But you don't have to. Work from the bottom it is a long reach. Use a 13mm socket, remove the bolt & shield. Install new sensor making sure that the magnet is clean. The general air gap for the sensor is around half way through the bolt hole that secures the sensor. Reassemble.

There is no best. Each manufacture requires a special blend for their transmission and that is best for that vehicle. Use only what the manufacture of your vehicle recommends and nothing else. Do not use any universal fluid period. Look in your owners manual or call you local dealer to find out what is best for your car.

Use an impact wrench to either remove it or break it. Then replace the lug.
Cut it off with a chisel if you can't get a socket on it.

No, the crank sensor set up changed from 98 to 99, and on through 2004.
The mounts, pulleys and such also changed, so you'll need to stick to just those years.
Why does your jeep transfer case pop out of gear?
number of reasons not all included. If you moded your lift you need to adjust the cable. the linkage needs fixed, your tub needs trimmed, your gear is destroyed so it pops back onto the main servo. sometimes making a sharp turn will luck up mine and pop me out due to axle lock up rare but happened a few times.

Better start with the basics: is the fuel filter good? does the fuel pump put out the proper pressure? does the carb appear dirty? how about the air filter?
a jet change would not be a normal solution unless there had recently been major changes in the cam and compression ratio.

To test and be sure, accelerate very slowly. if you feel the engine sucking more, that means yous carb is not giving enough fuel.
You can try with a bigger jet (not the idle jet)

make sure the fuel pump was put in the proper direction. Believe it or not its very easy to put it in the wrong way ... hook up all your hoses and linkage and try putting some gas in the lines manually to get the flow going
