How do you take care leather lounges?
Here's the plan:
1. Wipe down the leather with a barely damp white cotton cloth to take off the topical dust. Do this with the same frequency you would dust wood furniture in your environment.
2. From time to time apply a light coating of a good quality pH balanced leather conditioner. Leather will have its moisture content gradually evaporate. Regular conditioning will keep the moisture content where it needs to be, prolonging the life of the piece. The frequency of application is based on how hot and dry the air is. In the dessert climate once a month, in the moist and cool climates 2 times a year.
2. Spend some serious time thinking about what kind of politics or music you are into. You can make a list of these things if you want- I sketched my first vest out on paper before I did anything.
3. Recognize that your jacket is NOT going to be made overnight- over the years you are going to be adding things, and taking things off. You don't have to go out and buy a ton of patches and expect to have them all on by tomorrow morning.
4. Choose whether or not to have a back-patch or centerpiece on your jacket.
5. Go to a concert, thrift store, vintage store, record store, etc. and pick out some patches and buttons that work for you. Purchase them (don't steal, especially not from independent businesses) and place them where you want on your jacket.
6. Studs can be ordered from sites online (angryyoungandpoor.com is a good option) or you can pry them off studded belts and reuse them. If a store in your area sells studs and spikes, go for it.
7. I used acryllic paint on my jacket, but be aware that acryllic stains clothing- so if you're painting with it, don't wear your Sunday best.
8. If you see something you like (i.e. a small piece of bright green cloth) don't hesistate to put it somewhere on your jacket. Your jacket is unique to you- nobody else has one like it. So feel free to put whatever you want on it.
9. Just have fun with it- your jacket doesn't have to look like anything out of a textbook.
Only if you get hit with it. Bonded leather is just a product made from leather and other materials to look like leather but at a cheaper cost
