Leopards (also sometimes referred to as 'panthers' along with jaguars and mountain lions) can currently be found in sub-Saharan Africa, Indochina, Sri Lanka, China, Malaysia, Indonesia and parts of the Indian subcontinent, with largest population being found in sub-Saharan Africa. These solitary felines are the smallest members of the big cat family.

If black panthers are seen in cartoons then why isn't a black panther a real species?

Black panthers are real!

However they are only a subspecies within the same species as leopards (they can successfully interbreed). The only difference is fur color: leopards have black spots on a tan background, black panthers have black spots on a black background (so you are unable to identify the spots).

My sunroof on my 99 Plymouth neon only budjes up then down?

Need to know what the problem is. leaking? not opening? etc.

I had a similar problem with my neon. The track guides are very fragile and break often. There is just a wire cord that pushes and pulls on the guide to open and close the sunroof and the attachment breaks easily. the only fix is to replace the guide. The only place i have found new guides is at http://www.sunroofdoctor.com/9799neon.htm

Are there panthers in Louisiana?

Wildlife & Fisheries would say no, but I live in Southwest Louisiana & I have seen black panthers twice in my lifetime, so yes they do live in Louisiana, although there may not be a lot of them or they may not be seen often. Both sightings I saw were near heavily wooded areas. One sighting was around dusk when I was a child at a friend's home who had lived in the country with thick woods behind her home, but my friend & I were the only ones who got to see it run through the back yard. And the other sighting, I was an adult, it was very late at night & we lived in a newly developing area that was still considered country area at that time, had thick woods across the street from our house and all around the neighborhood...I woke up because I had heard a noise, I walked towards the back sliding glass door & saw a black panther eating out of my dog's food bowl (as we used to feed the dog outside & stopped at this point), the panther looked up at me & was in very close range with only a glass door in between us, but I guess I startled the panther just as much as it did me, it made eye contact, & was gone just as fast. I did not know that people truly did not believe panthers live in Louisiana, or that it is common for people to report seeing these animals to authorities, maybe I would have reported it to someone then, that has been approximately 10-11 years ago. Maybe I will get some cameras to see what animals come around late at night while we all sleep.

Are black panthers and jaguars the same?

They can be- the black panther is a melanistic color variation of any Panthera species. The black panthers in Asia and Africa are leopards (Panthera pardus), but the black panthers in the Americas are black jaguars (Panthera onca).

What is a freshwater niche?

Niche partitioning is when two different species use the same resource without competing. For example fish feeding at different depths in a lake, or monkeys feeding at different levels in the trees. One species of spiny mouse eats insects during the day, another species feeds on the same kind of insects at night.

Perhaps the fish feeding in a freshwater lake is an example of a freshwater niche.

Rome had (and still has) a Mediterranean climate with hot and dry Summers and mild and wet winters. The warm climate made life easier and, given the hot and dry summers, the winter rain was important for crop cultivation.

Why do no Greek gods have a snow leopard as a sacred animal?

It is a simple matter of the snow leopard not being native to Greece but to Central and South Asia. If it was a sacred animal it would likely be to Dionysus whose sacred animals were big cats, or Artemis who was goddess of all the wilderness and it's beasts.

Is the black panther real?

The black panther is real but not a single species. It may be a melanistic (black) leopard or a melanistic jaguar. Both are called black panthers.

Why would a 1995 F150 5.0 idle up and down which will clear up temporarily by fully depressing the gas pedal and then letting off?

I would try cleaning the IAC motor. You may have a sensor giving the ecm a bad reading causing an unwarranted adjustment to a high idle. A correct sensor contridicts that bad one, lowering it back down. Pukenstein@aol.com

Why does Pink Panther smoke cigarettes in some of his cartoons?

The Pink Panther cartoons are based on a character created for the cinematic opening of the film The Pink Panther, where the "Pink Panther" was a large, pinkish diamond that purportedly contained a flaw that, from a certain angle, resembled a "leaping panther."

The camera then zoomed into the diamond while going out of focus, and then refocusing on an (animated) character that looks similar to the Pink Panther of the later cartoons, but sitting on its haunches in a fashion that more resembled an actual cat... and smoking a cigarette in a cigarette holder. (At the time, this suggested "sophistication" ... hey, the movie was made in 1963, when smoking was still thought of as glamorous.)

The character was popular enough that a number of cartoon shorts were later made featuring a more anthropomorphic version, and a few of them retained the cigarette holder.

How can a panther be pink?

It cannot, but, in the movie, Pink Panther, it displays a cartoon panther that is colored pink.

The Pink Panther refers to a diamond with a pinkish hue that the Phantom tries to steal. If you hold the diamond up to the light it reveals a flaw that looks like a "Pink Panther." The cartoon Pink Panther was created for the opening credits and the name stuck with the series.
Some rare panthers suffering from albinism are occasionally referred to as pink.

The SAS use a heavily armed Land Rover painted pink for desert warfare. These are called pink panthers.

If a black panther isn't a real species then what made the football team Carolina Panthers?

Black panthers in Africa are known as Leopards (Panthera pardus); Black Panthers in the Americas are known as Jaguars (Panthera onca). So it is a real species.

How many kilograms of sugar costing Rs9 per kg mustbe mixed with 27 kg of sugar costing Rs 7 per kg so that there may be a gain of 10 percent by selling the mixture at Rs 9.24 per kg?

Suppose you mix X kg of sugar at Rs9 per kg.

Total amount of sugar = X + 27 kg

Total cost = 9*X + 7*27 = 9X + 189

Selling price should be 10% more than the Total cost (above)

that is Total sales = 1.1*(9X + 189) = 9.9X + 207.9

But Total sales also = 9.24 * (X + 27) = 9.24X + 249.48

Taking the difference between the two equations for Total sales,

0.66X - 41.58 = 0

So that X = 41.58/0.66 = 63 kilograms.

How do you store quilts?

Answer

To keep your quilts clean and away from musty smells buy the plastic bags with a zipper or one with a small hole and cap on it and place your quilt inside, then use your vacuum cleaner and suck all the air out of it and seal it. It will be as fresh as a daisy when you take it back out. All you'll need to do is put it in the dryer to flush it up. I just sent a nice quilt to an American friend of mine in Wisconsin and I put it in a smaller box (less expensive) and put the quilt in a plastic bag with sealer, sucked the air out and sent it. My friend put it in the dryer and it puffed right up. This is also a great idea for storing wedding dresses. In Canada it can cost you $80 - $150 to have a dry cleaners do the same thing you are doing at home.
