What would cause a Mazda B3000 to not start after it has been sitting The engine will turn over fine but it will not fire?

I have a 1994 B3000 that started doing that several years back. It was a relay that was located within a black box on the drivers side of the engine (I believe there are 3 relays in the box). I found that one of the relays was sticking. When lightly 'tapped' on it would release and the engine would start. After replacing it, the problem went away. Note Did they have the "Fuel Cutoff Switch" in those years of pickups? Typically, it's designed to remove power from the fuel system in the case of an imact or jarring. Check to see if it was somehow popped, and just push the button back in if you have one. Should be under the dash, right above or at the top of the carpet/floor mat passenger side. Little box with a single plug and a red button at the top typically. It may also be the ignition module. I had the same problem with my '94 B-3000. If it sometimes dies on you while driving it probably is the same thing. After replacing it the problem went away. The module is easy to replace. It is located on tn the front of the vehicle , drivers' side next to the radiator. Also tapping it several times may get you by until it can be replaced.
good Luck.

What size battery should be used on a 1999 Mazda B2500?

Any auto zone, napa,or advance auto parts will tell you exactly what battery will fit your vehicle. The only variation will be the cranking amps, and cost from any of the listed stores.I suggest auto zone,or advance for pretty much the same cost, best warranty, and both are rated extremely well and if you go to walmart the everstart brand is also a great (quality rated) as well. Auto zone, advance will install your battery for FREE if you cannot due to know how or tools(sweet)!!

How do you set the timing for a 1992 Mazda pick up B2000?

Like most vehicles with a settable timing. You need a timing light and a piece of chalk.

The proper setting must be obtained from your manual. It will be something like 10 degrees before or after TDC(Top Dead Center).

Connect timing light, mark zero degree on flywheel with chalk. You may need to spin flywheel a little and clean it off to see marks. After marking zero with chalk, start engine and allow to warm up to normal operating temp.

loosen bolt holding ignition(distributor) and turn distributor and hold trigger on timing light and aim at flywheel chalk mark. Move distributor so timing light hits chalk mark exactly.

Tighten distributor bolt and recheck alignment.

You are done, shutoff engine and unconnect light.

What is the location of the oxygen sensor Bank 2 Sensor 1 for a 1998 Mazda B4000?

Generally there are two oxygen sensors for each cylinder head on all later model vehicles (some early models may only have one). Each upstream oxygen sensor is located directly below the exhaust manifold flanges and above the upstream catalyctic converter. Each downstream oxygen sensor is located in the exhaust pipe, directly behind the upstream catalyst, and ahead of the main catalyst. NOTE: Some very early models may only have one catalyst. The electrical connector for the right downstream oxygen sensor is located on the right side of the transmission. - Mazda Pickups Repair Manual == Try Removing the front tires behind plastic shielding to get to the sensors on the upstream O2 sensors and there should be another downstream "easier".

Where is cigarette lighter fuse on 1991 Mazda B2600i pickup?

The fuse for that is inside the fuse panel on the driver side on the lower dash.It has a open hole to pull open and shows fuses. The fuse you should check may be the (room) for inside cab OR (cigar) for 12 volt cig.I would have to double check my own truck after 25yrs to verify this cigar as in my manual. If the cig lighter/12 volt hook up is not working and fuse is GOOD then you need to replace the 12 volt plug in part.Pretty simple to do and most aftermarket parts from napa, auto zone will fit in place of the orig mazda part.Removing parts of the dash(just cover of instrument cluster) and then removing fan knob, heat knob pull off(behind those are nuts) and several screws holding black overlay.OH and on the end of vent selection is a flat cover plate(1 screw is behind that).Hope this helps either way fuse,or 12 volt is bad.

How do you modify the vehicle speed sensor VSS on a Mazda B-Series truck to stop regulating the speed over 90 mph?

I'm assuming that you are trying to do away with some kind of governor function and somehow you think it is connected to the vehicle speed sensor. First, the vehicle speed sensor is just that, a sensor. It does nothing except send pulses to the computer and possibly the speedometer. If the vehicle is equipped with a governor, I'm sure that function takes place in the computer. -In trucks 1994 and newer speed is electronically limited by the ECU and is usually set to the factory speed rating of the tires. Without going to a stand alone ECU about the only way to change it is to have a speed shop reflash the computer. Which relay controls the starter for 1989 Mazda truck?

There are no relays that have any affect on the truck starting. If for some reason the truck has a starting issue I will list some. One battery is weak,or bad connections.Next alternator is not charging to full capacity.Starter solenoid is either bad,or has dead spots not engaging the starter when starting.Could be a multitude of things like bad ground wires from fender(rhs) to subframe,to block,or bad wires, coil or ignition control module(under distributor cap).Even a worn out ignition key cylinder where the key starts the truck can wear out creating a bad,no start scenario.Hope this gives a better answer to the possibilities of a no start. However start SIMPLE check the obvious battery, alternator(even alternator belt loose) and ground wires.Advance auto and and auto zone do free charging and battery checks to help isolate a issue in this area.

How do you replace the oil pan on a Mazda pickup truck?

Im actually looking for the answer to this question. Ive asked it already to many people and most of them say you need to TAKE THE MOTOR OUT as there is no room to drop the motor out of the bottom.

A mechanic friend of mine tried unbolting the motor and raising it without removing it and there still was not enough room.

Im hoping to God this isn't true.

Canadian Tire quoted me 6 hours labour for removing the oil pan so they must also remove the motor.....

Its insane.

$600 to change a oil pan.

Where is the fuel filter located on a 1989 Mazda truck?

On my 1989 Mazda B2600 the fuel filter is located on the firewall near the top of the engine compartment on the left hand side looking in.

*****************************************************************

From RonSh: I have two 1989 Mazda B2200 trucks, probably from two different manf. facilities. On one truck, the fuel filter is as above but closer to the carburetor and takes 10 minutes to change out.

On the other truck, to my suprise and angst, it is located behjind the fuel tank. Both are identical lookng. Be sure you know which line is coming from the tank and which is going to the front toward the carburetor. I had to physically feel and follow the lines because both go to an area hard to see without the vehicle being on a lift and I had poor lighting.

How do i find the engine number for a 2.5ltr Mazda MPV 2000?

I got an MPV 2000, also had challenges identifying where the engine number is. Had to call in a mech, but you can DIY, you can read the engine number from beneath the engine not too far from the oil filter, or somewhere very close, cos the mech didnt have any problem locating it, got the engine number out in a minute.
