You can purchase replacement hinge pin and bushing kits from Napa, O'Reilly, Etc. Part numbers are: Dorman 38422 NAPA 675-1594 They are about $5.99 per pin, (2) required per door.

There is a hinge kit available from dealers- my understanding is that it's pretty expensive, and replaces the complete hinge, so it requires welding a new hinge to the door. My door was rusted out at the bottom anyway, so I bought a complete replacement from a salvage shop.

Your very lucky this car is one of the easiest cars to put a radio in. You will need a pair of removal tools in the shape of the letter "u". You will also need a wire harness adapter, if you have a new enough aftermarket radio the wires will be color coordinated with the wire harness that u need. Last thing you need is a dash install kit if you get it from scoche, at wal-mart, it includes instructions. You can buy all of this at wal-mart, the company that makes it is scoche. That depends on weather or not you decide to stay with the 14 inch rim. If you do then you could use a 22570R14 or even a 23565R14, if you can find either of these sizes and if they are not too wide for the rim. You could always move to a 15 or 16 inch rim and have a larger variety of choices. Both of the larger size rime should be available at your local used parts recycler for a very resonable price. I found the answer myself; according to Nebraska Tire 215/75R14 can be substituted with P225/75R14, P225/70R14, 245/60R14. For those looking, thanks!

Check the fuses- Shift interlock is the same circuit as brake lights. As a temporary measure - try to turn the key to 1st (unlock) position shift to neutral to start vehicle and then shift to Drive.

The best way is to remove the bottom bolt and bend it all around until the top breaks then start the new shocks and tighten the nuts at the top through the fenderwell.

mine did the same thing i canged the plugs and two coil packs if you have an advance auto near by they will plug it in and tell you the problem if check engine lite comes on like mine was missing cylinder 4 & 6. like I said i replaced the plugs first and it was still missing and then i replaced two coil packs which are about 50.00 a piece. mine a 98 grand marquis 146000 miles on it

It doesn't have OBDII, I think that's why you can't find it. You can check the code by turning the key on and off 3 times within 5 seconds. The code will flash at you using the "check engine light". Long pauses in between indicate flashes seperates the different codes.

Remove the engine. Take the oil pan off and take every bolt out that you see. It will fall right out.

Any mercury dealer can provide this information. NO RECALL,DEALER WONT TELL YOU ANYTHING,IS A DEFECT ON AIR INTAKKE GASKET UNDER WINSHIELD WIPER UNIT,PASSENGER SIDE,WARRENTY RUNS OUT GASKET SHRINKS AND WATER POURS IN EVERY TIME IT RAINS OR SNOWS,IF YOU CAN GET TO IT, JUST SILICONE AROUND IT.

Usually a leak is caused by a gasket or seal no longer sealing properly, allowing oil to get by.

They can fail due to age (materials break down, harden or shrink), heat, or the pieces they are supposed to seal no longer fitting properly.

That is usually considered a partial valve job and most garages want just do head gaskets without shaving the heads at least and that means removing the heads from the motor(partial valve job). The last valve jog I had done on Ford engine 351 Windsor was about ten year ago and it was $600.00 then, the price know I couldn't tell you. I hope this give you some idealof the cost.

I am going to answer my own question. I have found this site very helpful and hope I can contribute something to help others. I just purchased this car and did so on my son's advice. He is a police officer and drives a Ford Crown Victoria at work. He told me about the safety rating, gas mileage and comfort. He did not tell me all the little problems that went along with owning a Ford product! The used car I purchased is a one owner, well kept automobile from an older couple. I don't think they even knew that the transmission was "chattering" some at speeds of 31-43 mph. I didn't recognize it until sometime after I purchased the car. When I did realize I had a problem I kept thinking that this felt like either an electrical problem or I had this vague feeling of being familiar with the sound. I owned a GMC suburban and when it was only a few years old I had all the fluids changed for a long family vacation, even the rear end. During the trip, while pulling a large travel trailer, the right rear tire began to "chatter" around corners and finally almost seized up. I was really worried about the large bill for repairs but a kindly soul in a small town listened to my story and told me to go to a GM parts house and purchase a small bottle of additive for Limited slip rear ends (which he had discovered I had on my truck). The problem was solved instantly with a $6.00 bottle of additive. I kept telling people that would look at my Mercury that this felt the same way and that this car did have some sort of limited slip. Finally an older mechanic with his own transmission shop listened, drove the car and sent me for a bottle of GM limited slip additive. He said that the torque converter was made from the same materials and in very much the same way as a limited slip rear end. He said if the additive worked, then to drive it for a few hundred miles, have the transmission flushed and add another bottle of additive from GM. The problem was solved instantly from the first time I added the small bottle of additive. The mechanic is pleased and thought that the torque converter was the problem. If I have not had prior damage to the transmission, my problem should be solved for many miles to come.
