Do larger tires affect the odometer?
Yes. with larger tires the odometer will show less mileage than actually travelled.
The odometer is held in with 3 screws to the instrument panel, and an electrical connector plugs into the circut board on the instrument panel, unplugs easily. Then the motor that drives the odometer can be unscrewed and taken off. We're going to get another one from another Buick at a junkyard and screw & plug it in, and hopefully it will start working. I took the instrument panel out of our 92 Buick Regal, (took off the bolts (really screws with bolt heads) for the top dash pad and pulled it out, very easy). Then the instrument panel can be unscrewed (4 screws/bolt heads) and easily pulled out, leave the transmission PNDD2L indicator attached, or 2 screws on the bottom of the instrument panel and it comes out, and took the face plates off the instrument panel to get at the odometer.
How do you fix an odometer on a 95 Honda accord it just stopped?
Check your maintenance required indicator for color and move it to green, a small screwdriver or paperclip will move it and it's located right next to the automatic tranny lights. I had same problem, don't understand why it started working after I moved color to green but this worked for me...Don
What if the electronic speedometer on your 1992 buick regal does not work what could be the problem?
Vehicle Speed Sensor
How do I disconnect odometer in a 94 ranger?
You have to remove the fuse for the speedo. You can not have both speedo and odometer at the same time. Also your computer will store the actuall mileage so someone could scan the computer and know how many miles are on it. The only thing you gain is speeding tickets, I have done this already!
How do you repair the digital odometer on a Chrysler Sebring?
If the digital odometer is not displaying its readout or is working intermittently it is a common occurrence that there is a bad solder connection on the instrument cluster.
When the digital odometer is not displaying its readout or the digital odometer displays intermittently this problem is frequently reported along with the vehicles tachometer not displaying any readout or working on an intermittent basis as well.
The link below shows the steps to repair a bad solder joint on an instrument cluster. It is fully illustrated and not too difficult, took me about an hour from start to finish.

check the vss located on the tailshaft of the transmission for the speedometer issue the odometer is figured out based on the speedometer also so it will quit as well. this sounds like either the sensor is bad or a short in the wire from it
The cord for the speedometer came undone from the transmission or the gauge cluster is bad

Why would the odometer on a 1994 Honda Accord fail intermittently and how do you fix it?
If the odometer also quits, the problem is probably the speed sensor or wiring to it. If the odometer keeps turning when the spedo quits, it is in the spedo itself and needs to go to the speedo shop.
How do you change odometer cable on 1969 camaro?
odometer cable and speedometer cable are the same thing, unscrew cable from speedometer head under the dash and unhook it from the tranny and pull the cable out and replace with a new one.

How do you rollback odometer on a 1984 Honda Civic?
You don't. It's illegal. If you have a faulty gauge cluster and need to replace it with a new or used set, you need to take it to a qualified shop that is allowed to do it and they have to set your new gauge cluster to your old ones milage.
When those things on my 92 B250 did not work, I replaced the speed sensor located on the transmission tailshaft and that fixed the problems. Hope that helped! Mark When the speedometer and odometer did not work in my 1990 B250, I had to replace the speed sensor, instrument cluster (speedometer) and replace a tiny gear (odometer) in order to get them working properly
How do you repair the odometer on your 89 Dodge dynasty?
You don't. There are reasons you aren't allowed to tamper with an odometer. If you have an old jalopy you might be able to replace a broken drive cable, but you can't even do that with a modern digital one. You have to get it replaced.
Is an odometer a tool to measure a baseball?
No.
Odometer measure the traveled distance of a wheeled vehicle. A ruler or a vernier caliper would be better for measuring a baseball.
Why does my odometer not work but my speed odometer and tach does on a 1992 Honda accord lx?
It depends on whether or not the car has a digital readout. If it has a digital display, chances are it would be a wiring problem, somewhere right behind the odometer. If it has an analog display, since the spedometer still works, chances are the odometer itself (the display) has gone bad--like a little gear in there or something. This is one of the simplest odometer problems to fix; just replace the display piece. If the spedometer wasn't working it would be a whole different story--probably a faulty cable.
How do you fix a speedometer on a 1999 Kia Sephia that is not moving at all?

1993 Saturn speed odometer is broken how do you fix it?
When mine went out, the only option from anywhere I found was to replace the entire assembly, at a cost of around $450. The actual problem is a small gear in the odometer. (it's red if I remember correctly) I searched for the gear through suppliers of car radio parts. I was unable to find one there, so I went to the stack of radios in the garage. One of them had a gear that had the correct pitch, and was about 2mm to big. So I sanded the diameter down, cut the teeth a bit deeper, and installed it. That was 3 years ago. Been working fine.
Why do the gauges on a 1984 Corvette stop working?
There are numerous reasons that can cause the gauges to stop working. In my case, I found a pin on one of the printed circuit boards that had never been soldered. This pin supplied 12 DC power from one board to the other and was black from arcing over the years. This was an intermittent problem that would cause the gauges to come and go. I soldered the pin and the instrument cluster has been working flawlessly ever since. Bad grounds are often the cause for electrical problems in Corvettes.
