If a 1996 Dodge 2500 diesel temp gauge fluctuates wildly but fluid levels are fine and you change the coolant regularly is it the thermostat?

It might be a good idea to check the coolant temp. sensor to see if it's shorting out or has a bad ground. Once that is verified, check to see if the gauge itself is not having a problem with power/ground. A bad thermostat wouldn't cause the gauge to fluctuate "wildly", it would usually either get stuck closed or stuck open, causing a cool-run or hot run condition. It would also be a good idea to get a Ray-Tek laser thermometer to verify your coolant temp. at the sources.

AnswerA cummins engine has a very large cooling system in it, 195 deg F. Is the optimal water temp. 195 is about the center of the temp gauge and when the thermostat opens, letting the hot antifreeze out and cold antifreeze in from the large radiator. It is usually much cooler than the fluid it replaced causing the thermostat to close again, the temp gauge will read accuratly when it suddenly drops to the low end of the normal range and slowly build back to the center of the gauge. If that is What you call fluctuating wildly don't worry it is normal. However if the temp is building to the hot side or doesn't heat up at all change the thermostat they are about $10. Cummins has one that will eliminate the temp changes, but it takes the truck longer to warm up. It is cummins part# 3928499.

Where is the air fitting for filling the rear air shocks on a 99 aurora?

I believe that the rear air shocks are part of an automatic level control system. There is a level sensor on the rear suspension system and a compressor that fills the shocks to raise the rear end. There is also a valve to release the pressure to lower the rear end.

How do you remove the radio in a 1997 Oldsmobile aurora?

NOTE: These instructions are for a 1995 Oldsmobile AuroraAlthough it should be similar if not the same for the 1997

Using a flat bladed screwdriver, wrap the tip in a piece of old cloth to prevent scratches or damage to dash panel.

The section that is to be removed is the area that includes the front air ducts and plastic shroud that surrounds the radio. It is all One Piece.

There are 4 clips holding the piece in place.

2 Clips are spaced evenly on the underside of the radio

The other 2 Clips are located evenly spaced above the Air Ducts.

Gently Pry the area about 2 inches in from either side and pull the shroud forward to dislodge it. DO NOT REMOVE IT COMPLETELY!

Gently Pry the area about 2 inches in from either side above the Air Ducts until you have dislodged the clips, and gently pull forward.

Now that bot sets of clips are dislodged, the shroud should come off easily.

DO NOT FORCE, if it requires excessive force you may not have dislodged the clips.

The Air Ducts will come out along with the shroud, this is normal.

From there you should be able to locate the 3 mounting Screws.

2 on the Left/Drivers Side 1 on the Right/Passenger Side.

When replacing the radio insure that the foam/sponge seal around the Air Duct inside the dash are not pinched between the radio and the Duct when re-installing as this may cause air to leak inside the dash.

Replace in a similar way as removal, align the Air Ducts/shroud and press gently and evenly both on the top and bottom to "pop" it back in place.

This may take a gentle 'Tap" to seat it well, but should not require excessive force.

Minor seating issues can be resolved by wrapping your thumb in some cloth and with some firm pressure, run it along the edge of the shroud to press it in place. Stubborn issues can also be assisted with the screwdriver wrapped in cloth. EXCESSIVE FORCE should not be used, you may have a foreign object trapped. Remove and try again.

What is the belt routing on a 2001 olds aurora?

We need to know if it is a V8, or a V6

LOOK ON THE RADIATOR CORE SUPORT,IT"S IN THAT AREA.

it's a v6

- The easiest way to figure it out is that the serpentine belt basically goes in a circle aurrounding all of the wheels (grooved side in); it will bend back and forth based on the wheel it is wrapping around. Pull it back to fit the smooth side of the belt over a smooth wheel, and forward to fit the grooved side of the belt over a grooved pulley.

If this doesn't help, use google images and one of the first things to pop up will be a diagram. Good luck!

What causes bad blend door operation on a 95 aurora cold on passenger side but warm on driver side?

Cannot speak specifically to a Oldsmobile but, on a Dodge product of same vintage it would be low freon.

Either that, or it could be a bad control head, or a bad blend door actuator.

How do i bypass 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora Security?

I have over 250,000 miles on my 95 Aurora and I do not want to spend a lot of money by-passing the resistor pellet sensor in the key or buying a new key or taking it to a shop. I have already bypassed many faults with the old car and it runs strong. Too many computer modules. I have discovered there is a two (2) wire antenna configuration around the ignition switch. I'm trying to find a simple fix with wiring without removing the steering column ignition switch........more to come, Ned

Did this with my 99. worked perfect
spent $6 dollars because a bought the "variety pack" 1/4 watt resistors.
I used a 423 ohm and a 220 ohm tied together.
IMPORTANT: For the 99 Aurora notice the second comment. that's me.

Does the drivers seat lay forward on a 1979 corvette?

I'M NOT SURE IF THIS WILL HELP.... BUT I WAS LOOKING FOR A WAY TO BRING THE BACK UP A BIT TO MAKE IT MORE COMFORTABLE FOR ME TO DRIVE. I'M 5'8" AND THE SEAT WAS RECLINED TOO MUCH FOR MY TASTE...YOU CAN BUY A 5/8 OD-3/8 ID FLEXIBLE RE-INFORCED HOSE AT HD/PLUMBING SUPPLY THAT HAS APPROX. 1/8" THICK WALLS.. YOU SPLIT THE HOSE DOWN THE MIDDLE... THEN PLACE A 2' SECTION ON THE BOTTOM SEAT BACK TO BRING IT UP ABOUT 1/8 "..THIS 1/8" MAKES A DIFFERENCE.... IF YOU WANT MORE TILT FORWARD AS I DID, ADD A PIECE OF 3/16" OR SO, WOOD BETWEEN THE HOSE AND THE BOTTOM SEAT BACK.... IT IS SNUG ENOUGH TO HOLD WELL, BUT YOU CAN TAPE IT IF YOU WISH........

How do you change door handles on 1999 Oldsmobile aurora?

Remove the interior door panel. The handle is accessible by reaching through the door frame, but it is difficult if you have large arms/hands.

The handle is secured to the door with two screws. The screws can be removed best with a socket on the end of a 6" extender. There are holes in the sheet metal that allow direct access to the screws with the socket.

With the screws removed, you need to disconnect the latch pushrod, and remove the key lock barrel before the handle will come out of the door.

The pushrod attaches to the handle with a plastic clip. You have to rotate the plastic clip away from the rod, then the rod will pull out of the hole on the handle.

The lock barrel is secured with a U-shaped spring clip. Remove the clip with a screw driver and push the barrel out the back of the handle.

With the lock and pushrod detached, you may still have to pry a bit on the handle to get it out of the hole in the door.

To re-install the handle, reverse the process. Make sure to re-attach the lock and the latch pushrod before securing the handle with the two screws. It's almost impossible to get the lock and pushrod installed once the handle is screwed to the door.
