Pry out the centre section of the controls, between the levers, with a small screwdriver, and you'll find the hidden screws. The knobs pull off the levers.

Just done this on a 1999 model UK Vitara (should be same as US sidekick) and as above said, pull knobs of levers, remove and disconnect clock and radio if fitted, remove 2 top screws and remove 2 screws hidden in ashtray. Panel should then pull off (only held by a clip either side)

The best solution is to purchase and install a clamp on block heater which is available through a Suzuki dealer. To my knowledge, you can't install a normal type of block heater (installs in frost plug).

You have to remove the interior surround and rubber boot from around the gear shifter. Once this is off, there is a kind of plate on the floor and you remove this. Once all this stuff is removed, you should be looking down outside the truck and you'll be face to face with the tranny. Right on top is the switch, and a lot of tims it's not bad. You just need to disconnect the wiring harness and clean the connections. If this doesn't help, then replace the switch. ~ Tim ~

You have to have a good old fashioned timing light, make sure the engine is warm and idling at 800 rpm look down at the crank from the front and you will see numbers 0-10 the hash marks with numbers equal 2 degrees. Now there is a mark on the pulley, TURN off the engine and use some white out to help brighten the mark. Restart the engine and squeeze the trigger on your light shine it down the front of your engine. Loosen the bolt on the distributor 12mm and move distributor back and forth until the white mark on your pulley lines up with the hash mark that denotes 8 degrees. 8 degrees BTDC at 800 RPM

a faulty question. are you saying the car accelerates with your foot off the gas pedel. then you are going down hill or your car is infected by the devil. I have seen a TPS fail and cause high idle , and a vacuum leak but it runs high all the time ,not JUST in 5th gear. you need to rephrase your question. or are you just asking a gear ratio question. ask like this: Is the normal rpm on my engine 3k at 100KPH. give exact numbers not wide ranges. If that is your question then yes it may be true. small engines turn higher rpm the big engines. my 4.8liter truck turns 2k at 55mph. That is because it makes lots of torque at a low rpm. the desiger geared it accordingly. good day.

Remove the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and then remove the head. Scrap off the old gasket and install a new one. Reinstall the head and Torque the head bolts in the proper sequence. Reinstall the intake and exhaust manifold torque the bolts to the proper torque. This is a major repair and not for a novice to try.

Leaking valve guides in the head will cause oil to get around the spark plugs.

There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.

The reset switch is located just behind the dash at the driver's left knee. Remove the small rectangular center panel beneath the steering column (it pops out) and also the left side speaker assembly. You can reach the small switch from one side or the other, depending on who was running that operation on a given day at the assembly plant.

Yes, they made plastic hard shells. But they are hard to find. You also should ask yourself, do I want to invest any more money into this piece of junk? Two piece top, usually in bright colors, like hot pink and neon green. Had one way back in 1990, when they weren't total garbage. The tops were not fiberglass, and didn't make the ride any more quite.

Find the Power Steering pump. It should be at the front of the engine, on the driver's side (US Sidekicks, not a UK Vitara). It's got a pulley, and a fan-belt that drives it.

Right near it (you can follow the black hose from the steering pump) is a black, metal thing about the size of a pop-can, with a silver metal cap on it - it looks sort of like a little radiator cap. Push down and turn to open it - If I remember right, there's a dipstick inside the lid. ALSO: If I remember right, the Kick PS System uses AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID. Top it off with generic ATF.
