What are the ignition timing marks on a 92 civic?

There are 4 marks on the crank pulley. When standing on the driver side of the car looking down on the pulley, the mark farthest to the right is the mark for TDC (Top Dead Center). The three marks on the left are for the spark timing.

Of these three the mark in the center should align with the arrows/triangles on the timing belt cover when the engine is running and a timing light is shining on the crank pulley.

The outer two marks represent Honda's tolerances for the ignition timing.

Be sure to let the engine warm up before checking/adjusting the timing.

How do you tell the firing order on motor and distributor cap for a chevy 350?

1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2, The firing order is usually stamped on the intake manifold. To get the right order on the distributor cap, remove the distributor cap. Remove the #1 spark plug. Place your finger in the spark plug hole. Manually turn the motor clockwise. Compressed air will "blow by" your finger when the #1 cylinder is reaching the top of the compression stroke. Verify "top dead center" on the timing mark/harmonic balancer. Look at the distributor. The rotor will be pointing to where the #1 spark plug wire will go. Place the cap back on the distributor, put the #1 wire where the rotor pointed, follow the firing order stamped on the intake CLOCKWISE around the distributor cap. Ok, I had the same problem this weekend. Somehow I mixed up the wires, even thought I pulled one at a time. I have a 94 GMC suburban. From the front of the truck, #1 is at 5 oclock on the distrubutor, the first pole clockwise from the mounting screw that points towards the front right headlight. There are two mounting screws for the dist cap. One towards the cab firewall and one closest to the coil. That screw, one pole clockwise, is number one cylinder on the rotation. Rotor turns clockwise. I hope this helps someone more than trying to stick your finger over the plug hole and be Stretch ArmStrong by turning the ignition at the same time.

Check engine light on Nissan Maxima?

The check engine light (service engine soon) comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, the problem is in the emissions or something that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions, but other causes can trigger the light to come on, too. To determine the cause, the vehicle will need to be taken to AutoZone or a shop that has an OBD2 scanner, or for 1995 and earlier models, an OBD1 scanner, While a scanner will not give you the magic answer, it will give you a code that narrows down the problem area.
