VW New Beetle

i don't even know when this question was asked, but you should have a card that came with your car (maybe in your handbook?) that has a code. you use your radio station buttons until you have that code entered in your digital readout area and then your radio will work.

People have done it but it's very hard. What WILL fit on your Beetle are the disc brakes from a 1969-on Karmann Ghia.

you have to lift it up and do it through the flap in the wheel well. The number three plug is especially dificult due to the steering wheel assembly. You may have to buy a cheap wrench and cut if down to get behind the collum.

If it is a 3.5 unhook battery remove coil packs on top of valve covers and unplug, pull boots from plugs remove plugs with spark plug socket. be sure engine is cool set gap is printed on emision tag. make sure coil probes line up in boots when reinstalling coil packs

65 should have kingpins

there is a recall on that car for that same problem. but hold the button on the remote while pulling up the lid

If the freon is low the AC will not work. I would have it checked for a leak and then refill it. This can be done by getting the proper items needed at a part house of your choosing. If you take it to a dealer check for specials as they will get you for up to 100 dollars that only cost 8 dollars in fuids.

I had this problem on a 1997. A dealer replace two modules for $1400 and after 30miles I had the same problem. 3 injectors would not fire, although not always the same three. I had no power. The ABS light and airbag lights came on. The mpg/oil life control panel would dim and flash. The cam sensor was changed for $200 and the car runs like new. Oh yeah, as a word about garbage mechanics with a GM certified degree, the GM dealer is Tri County Chevrolet/pontiac in Royston, GA.

Go to your local autoparts store and purchase the Haynes manual for your vehicle. Its like 15$ it is worth every penny... Dont buy the Chilton manual its way more confusing to follow..

It means that a light bulb is out on the side where the light solid (not blinking) it could be in the front or rear of the vehicle.

make sure you dont loss the spring that is in the shaft, make sure that when you put the dist. down in the block that the grove is matched up in the bottom of the spot where dist goes in, one side is bigger than other, after its seated you will have to set timeing

under the back seat right in the middle. it should be 7 numbers/letters

It goes in the engine compartment, but the coolant that you need is only available from the dealer.

You need G12 coolant it can be purchased online and it mixes half and half with distilled water.

The best way to find out is go to your local auto parts store, ask for a haynes or chiltons manual on your vehicle. This will tell you everything you need to know about working on your vehicle. The front 3 are easy. The back 3 require you to roll the motor over. take of the bones connecting the motor to the front of the car and gently rock the engine forward.

If it won't go off, something's wrong with the system. You'll need to have someone with a VAG-COM scanner check it.

You can tell if your window regulator is broken on a Volkswagen Beetle when you hear a big clunk as it goes down.

the plugs are under the ignition coils that line the top of both cam covers(on the left and right sides of the intake) remove the plugs that are on each coil. remove the 10mm bolts that hold them in. pull the coils out and remove the plugs with a 5/8 spark plug socket on an 8" extension

the beetle has a boxer engine (the old)

they are just half in the cilinder's

2 on the left and 2 on the right.

I had the same problem - and thanks to the internet found the solution... Open the front door and the hatchback. Now insert the key into the ignition and start the car. Voila! The alarm is disabled! If this doesn't sound like control-alt-delete, I don't know what does! Now I'm searching to find out how to turn it back on - because, while this stopped the alarm from going off, it also deactivated the keyless entry.

Basic steps:

buy carb rebuild kit
take carb apart
clean really well
put back together with the parts out of the rebuild kit.

Horn contacts grounded.
