If you can reach behind the lighter in place, you can do it there, if not the section holding the lighter will need to be removed. May just pull out, may have screws holding it. Once removed the back side of the lighter unscrews consider it the "nut" to the body of the lighter the "bolt" One plugin on the center, the positive side and usually a flat plug on the side of the body of the lighter for the ground.

The "zippo" cigarette lighters were also used to ignite the thatched roofs of people's homes (burning down villages).

The ZIP FASTENER was invented in Chicano in 1893 by Whitcomb Judson and in it early stage was more a hook-and-eye shoe fastener. Zip-fasteners did not come into general until the 1930s, when the zipper beat the button fly in the 1937, following the discovery that zippers made it easier for children to dress themselves. During that period they had campaigns praised zippers for promoting self-reliance in young. The first commercial production of zip-fasteners was when Whitcomb Judson started together with businessman Colonel Lewis Walker, the Universal Fastener Company to manufacture the new device. B.F. Flint is a natural occurring stone in the calcedony family. It is a smooth stone and varies in color. To strike sparks from flint and steel you need high carbon steel. Stainless doesn't work. You strike the steel against the flint on top of which a piece of char cloth or other charred material is held. Punk wood can also work as can milkweed ovum, dried mullein leaves and finely sliced mullein pith. The spark actually comes from the steel. They are minute bits of molten metal from the steel. The char or other material catches the spark and begins to smoulder and is placed into a tinder bundle and is blown into flame. Some people refer to a ferrocerrium rod as flint. It isn't. Flint as I said above is a naturaly occurring stone. Flint, chert, jadite, nephrite, quartz and several other stones will also work.

Nothing really it all the same stuff they just want you to buy there own brand that's all...... i have a 1988 zippo i have had and i have used generic brands and it is still working fine

Remove the zippo from the case and unscrew the spring for the flint hole. set the spring inside the zippo case along with the flint and the grab tweezers and remove the cotton filling. this will allow for a smoother pull later.grab your tweezers and pull the wick carefully to the brim on the where it lights then snip at an angle off the carbon piece. once that's done put the cotton in the opposite way we pulled it so the last piece you pulled goes in first and so on. add the last cotton piece then put the flint back in and add the flint spring back in. now you put it back inthe case and give it a light!

It's probably better to take out the entire carpet and replace it. However, after taking organic chemistry while in college, every hydrocarbon that we needed to clean off, we would use acetone (found in nail polish). Since we worked with hydrocarbons all the time, we were given gallons of these stuff. I forget the exact mechanism of the reaction, but it will break it down - which you could later wash off with water/soap. Of course, this was all on glass material, so I'm not sure how it would work in carpet. You may want to give it a try (let it soak in acetone for a while) if you have access to a whole lot of acetone. DON'T USE ACETONE IT WILL DESTROY THE CARPET The best thing is to take the liner out completely if you can. Hose it off first to get all the gas off. Then use vinegar to get rid of the smell. If that doesn't work, try using diluted bleach mixture. Use a spray bottle to get it on evenly on the back and front, then hose it off to get it all out. Repeat the vinegar method until the odor is gone. answer here is an easy fix. steam clean the offending area may need to do it twice put steam will evaporate what ever fuel is left in carpet etc

When the total blood volume drops below a safe amount, plus when you need to fush the bloodstream trough the kidneys, you need to supply the ill with salts, sugar or some special medication. Also when oral liquid intake is not possible.

Formaldehyde

It needs a flint and lighter fluid. Zippo does not ship with either item, they must be purchased separately. Check at the tobbacco counter for these items.

The flint is a small cylindrical style object which rests under the wheel, this can be put in by pulling the silver part of the zippo out of the case it comes in, unscrewing the golden screw, dropping the flint into the hole and then putting the screw back in. It is a good idea not to tighten the screw all the way, so that it can be unscrewed by hand if the zippo ever gets jammed.

To refule the lighter, first of all you need some fluid! Then lift the arm which sits on the opposite side of the lighter to the wheel, into a vertical position.Then you take the inside part of the lighter out again, and then turn it upside down so that you can see the foam. If you are using lighter fluid with a squeezy nozle, you can poke the end of the can into the hole, and squeeze in short bursts of around one second, with two second gaps. If you are not using a squeezy can with a pointed nozle, you need to pinch the foam, and lift it up towards the golden screw head, then pour the fluid in slowly until you see it rise up above the foam.

In both cases of refulling, you need to stop as soon as you see the utmost layer of foam become damp or wet, overfilling will cause leaks or for fluid to drip out the wick if you hold it upside down. Doing this means you risk setting the excess fluid on fire and badly hurting yourself if there is any on the case of the lighter or your hands. Zippo strongly recommend that you wash your hands thoroughly, and wipe your zippo before you ignite the lighter.

If you run out, a variety of liquid fuels can be used as a stopgap, Ronsonol will work but as it is a lot more volatile than the naphtha-based Zippo fuel, it will evaporate quickly while the lighter is in your pocket, and let you down. Nothing is as good as the real thing, believe me.

Relax. The lighter fluid that accidentally spilled over the side can be wiped off. The rest will evaporate in a few minutes. When you replace the lighter in the case, allow a couple of seconds for the fluid to evaporate off the flint and the wick. Then try to strike it. If the flint does not spark, wait a few seconds more. The lighter fluid is not dangerous unless it is near a heat source. Wash your hands and then try to light the lighter again. It is fine if you overfill; the lighter won't work until the excess has evaporated.

It should be fine if you take the insides out and let them dry properly. This might take a couple of days. Refill the lighter, replace the flint, and spark it up. If you can't make it light, you can always send it back to Zippo and they will make repairs to the mechanism.

Pachinko Machines are valued by a few factors, the most important being condition. Another factor is age. 60s and 70s machines, although great vintage items, are cheaper than newer models from the 80s because they lack expensive electronic components. A 60s/70s machine is worth $25-$100 depending on condition. As a side note, Nishijin was a major producer of pachinko machines, so it's not really a 'rare' item, although it is still a good collector's item.

Zippo lighter fluid. But any good naptha based fluid will work well.

Pull out old one, insert new one. You may wish to install roll bars incase it has hazardous side effects. For a 106 without a cigarette lighter, its reasonably easy to fit one. Local car parts supplier had a lighter for less than £3. All the wiring required to fit the new lighter is behind the centre panel of the dashboard unfortunatly this means you have to remove the radio first which is a pain and requires more brute force than technique. The spare wires is retained in a plastic clip to stop the wire moving and shorting any other connections out. (at least they were on my '94 XND model have read other people having found the wires easily also)

Stromberg dashpots require a light grade oil. 3 in 1, or sewing machine oil is ideal In the good old days we used to use brake fluid in the dashpots during the winter months.

Well, you can add a little bit, since Charcoal lighter fluid is mainly kerosene, or a light form of kerosene.

In winter, diesel fuel is actually cut with kerosene as an additive to prevent clouding . It lowers the solidification of the diesel fuel.

So its probably OK to add a bit,.....maybe a quart or so to the older diesel engines. ITs probably OK for even newer diesels as long as its a quart or less.

Do not run 100% lighter fluid in a diesel engine. There is no lubricity, and the cetane is not adequate.

One thing that I know for sure is that condition makes a great big huge difference.

The regular liquid fluid is 100% Naptha, which can be purchased at hardware stores in pint sized cans, not little 4 oz cans. Another, less expensive option, is to use Coleman camp/stove fuel. It comes in a red/silver steel gallon container and sold in all the big box stores. For fueling a Zippo, a gallon of Coleman fuel will literately last a lifetime. I paid $2.59 for the gallon can that I refill my little 4 oz can from and its still over 1/2 way full. This is not recommended! Charcoal fluid is not designed to be used in a cigarette lighter. Since it is designed to be used with a match and charcoal, it does not work well with a Zippo. The flint can be damaged by this procedure as well as harming the entire case. Another hazard is that this use can cause chemical burns to the skin.

In the US, most major retailers carry this item, including grocery stores and Walmart and Target. All specialty tobacco shops would also carry lighter fluid and butane gas.

If you have not tried spinning the wheel on the Zippo try that. I know that seems obvious but someone might not know that. Or if you have tried that and it does not work then you need a flint for your Zippo. These are usually sold separately from the Zippo.

Once you have the Zippo flint you can place it into the lighter by removing the Zippo from the case by grasping the chimney (the thing with holes in it once you open the lighter) and the case and pulling them in opposite directions. Once the two pieces are separate, you look at the lighter's bottom, there should be a screw and some soft cloth. Unscrew the screw to replace the flint. after removing the screw and the spring, drop a flint in the hole while holding the lighter upside down, place the spring in the hole, then screw the screw back in.
