What does the tow load button do on a Chevy truck?

The tow/haul button on the later model GM trucks and SUV's change the shift points in the transmission. While accelerating it raises the RPM's for the shift points and it raises the line pressure in the transmission for firmer shifts. When passing it changes the throttle position for the downshift from 3/4 throttle to 1/2 throttle so the transmission downshifts sooner into the lower gear. When slowing down it downshifts sooner throughout the gears back to first so if you have to speed back up you are already in a lower gear.

How do you replace a heater core in a 1966 Chevy pickup?

Pull the top off of the black box on the passenger side of truck under the hood. Remove the two heater hoses. Remove the old heater core. Reverse the process. Top off the radiator with antifreeze and check again after a test drive. Enjoy the heat.

What are the signs of a leaking intake manifold?

Leaking antifreeze? An exterior leak would show up with a puddle on the ground. An interior leak would show up in your engine oil with a milky goop on the dipstick or under oil cap, not a good thing. Vacuum leak? A vacuum leak would give you a crappy idle and probably the check engine light would come on with a code for a lean condition.

How do you install distributor on a 1972 model 327?

in 1972 there was no 327 cu.in. , if you are making this, are you going to HIE if so dont forget to use 8mm wires. Installing the distributor, rotate the coil cap to point to the number one spark plug wire on the distributor cap. The number one plug is, as you are facing the front of the engene 1st one on the driver side. First step is to rotate the engene to where the number one piston is in it most high position. There are a cpl. of ways of doing that, don'thave time to write a lesson here , hope you can use some of this onfo.

How do you wire a Chevy three-quarter ton pickup starter?

The following applies to the 350, the 6.2 Diesel, and probably all other Chevrolet engines.

There is a heavy cable coming from the battery to the big stud on the front end of the starter solenoid. The nut takes either a 9/16 or 5/8 wrench. On my 1977 there is a lighter cable going from this same stud to the fuse board. On later vehicles you may find the fuse board fed directly from the battery through a fusible link.

On the front end of the solenoid nearest the driver there is a thin stud with a nut taking either an 11/32 or 5/16 deep socket. This takes a light cable coming from the ignition/starter switch, possibly via a firewall solenoid and (if an automatic transmission) a transmission switch which closes only when the transmission is in park or neutral.

There is also a thin stud on the front end of the solenoid furthest from the driver. No external wire attaches to this.

If there is a front support for the starter, be sure to attach it to the stud on the front of the starter.

With the flywheel pan removed check the pinion clearance with the pinion shoved back to engage the flywheel. I find a large paper clip is just the right thickness for this job. Adjust the clearance by adding or removing shims where the starter contacts the engine block. There are two big screws holding the starter to the engine block. To change shims you must remove the screw furthest from the driver and loosen the screw nearest the driver.

How does one remove a 1957 Chevrolet ignition lock cylinder from the ignition switch when the key does not allow you to turn the switch to the lock position?

There is two small holes in the chrome cylinder where the key goes in. Take a fine pick preferably a mechanics pick and it's nice if you have a key but you really don't need one. Push the pick in the lowest hole to release the spring, with the key turn left and pull out. Without the key old school a screw driver without damaging the outer casing and twist the same way as with the key. The casings are cast and they can easily be damaged. Easiest way to just buy a new casing with ignition from east coast Chevy $36 and a lock for $23 then its all new. You can buy the whole set for $76 doors, trunk, ignition, and glove box. Hope this helps Lyle Davidson
