Hou much should it cost to replace an alternator for a 1988 acura integra Ls?

buy a service manual for it that will show you how to do it

its a huge pain in the buttt but u have to take off the serpentine off also and then u gotta loosen the bolts on the alternater so u can move that around too

The alternator on a 95 Chevy Lumina 3.4l is replaced by disconnecting the wiring harness, loosening the retaining bolts, and removing the serpentine belt. The alternator can then be unbolted, removed, and a new alternator installed.

On my 2000 cougar we started by disconnecting battery. Then lifted up the vehicle from the right side, took out front right tire and wheel wells (splash guards). Then we undo the serpentine belt, tensioner is next to crankshaft. After you take off the belt, unbolt the tensiones (two bolts). You won't be able to just take off the alternator, you must take off the bracket, theres about 4 or 5 bolts you must undo, the tough ones are the ones behind the alternator right under the intake runner. Once you remove the bracket bolts, remove the alternator bolts (3-two in front, one in back) then you can remove alternator from bracket, allowing you to remove the alternator since they would jus hit against the side of the chassis if bracket would not had been removed. Remove bracket from the bottom, alternator must come out through wheel well, the steering knuckle (i think that's what its called) must be removed from the top side, allowing you to swing it towards the front of the car, so you have enough room to remove the alternator.....that's how we did it kind of..it sounds complicated because it is...its more of a two man job if no lift is available, make sure to secure the car on floor jacks before getting underneath it since its the only way to get the bolts for the bracket and the alternator near the intake runners. I've been searching for an answer on how to remove it but all I've found was alternators on V6 cougars..which is a way more complicated way from what I've heard...I hope this helps someone else working on a 2000 mercury cougar 4 cyl. Tools mainly used, 1/2 socket, reg and deep. 1/2 rachet, a size 10 wrench, and an adapter for the rachet...theres some other, I can't remember the sizes but you'll figure it out once you get underneath and try it yourself.

When you car is turned off your battery doesn't have the alternator pushing that constant stream of voltage to your battery to keep it charged. So your looking at a decrease in voltage by 2 - 3 volts while car is off. No part will fix this just simply start your car before you turn on your head lights.

Either the alternator you installed is defective or you wired it incorrectly. Check the voltage at the battery with the engine idling. You should read from 13.5 to 15.5 volts with a digital DC volt meter.

look into getting a Hayes repair manual or similar book for your cars make, model and year. It should tell you how to install the alternator. Depends if it is the 3.1 or 3.4. I have a 3.4L and I let the dealer do it. The car had to be raised and the engine lowered since the alternator is located on the rear of the engine towards the bottom. See question regarding the 1995 Cutlass Supreme . Same applies unless you have the 3.4 version of engine.

For the most part it's an easy task: find your belt tensioner(look for the square slotted pulley, a half inch drive ratchet), once you've got the belt off(make sure you remember the placement of the belt or draw a diagram) their is 3-4 bolts remove these and the wires attached and your homefree. losen and pull off belt by using the tensioner( right above AC if you have it) dont do it wile the truck is running. disconect wires unbolt aternator, then do it backwrds with the new one instead

Maybe the MAF connectors are dirty? Google "SHO stalls intermittently" for more info.

I had the same problem with a 1993 SHO. The problem was the injectors. believe it or not 5 of the 6 injectors were bad.
