It can be primary power fuse is blown, which should be a 100amp fuse under the hood or under the dash. could also be corroded battery contacts or loose power contact somewhere. Here's what I found out I had the same problem, and it was a loose connection behind the drivers side fuse box.(That in the cab, down by your feet)the wires that connect to the Ignition fuse I promise!

Have them check the PCM on the car. I JUST had this problem with my 99 Cavalier and the mechanic had to pull everything out of my dash before he found that my PCM was fried somehow. Just so you have symptoms to compare to, my dome light and dash indicators would all light up and work fine, but when you would try to start the car it would not even click. It acted like my battery was dead. I had to jump start my car every time I got in.

Connect a voltmeter across the battery terminals without engine running reading should be around 12.8

With engine running reading should be 13.8-14.2 if you are getting these numbers alternator is charging battery

sounds like a battery with a bad cell . replace battery most junkyards sell them for 25 bucks with a 30 day guarentee. or if u can borrow a friends just to check if I'm accurite.

Loose alternator drive belt or loose or corroded battery cables. The battery itself may also be bad.

No. The engine's control module regulates the voltage. No other regulator is necessary. A very expensive repair if it's faulty though.

If it's anything like removing the alternator on a 99 Civic than it's better left to a repair shop, unless you know a thing or two about fixing cars. You have to remove the bushings on the control arm, partially remove the drive axle and than drop the alternator down. It's the only way to get it out. Get to know someone at a Honda or Acura Service Center so you can get it done for a lot less money.

To change the alternator on a 1987 to 1990 Chevy Celebrity V6:

First disconnect the ground cable from the battery.

Use a 3/8" breaker bar or ratchet in the square on the end of the belt tensioner to release the tension and take the serpentine belt off of the alternator drive pulley. There should be a routing chart on the belt guard between the water pump and the power steering pump.

Remove the three bolts that attach the alternator to the mounting bracket.

Pull the alternator up and disconnect the plug and use a wrench to disconnect the battery wire.

Reverse the process to install the new alternator.

Worn bearing and new belt is tighter than worn one?

NO. The battery light as you call it is actually the charging system light. If it is staying on the charging system is not working properly. More than likely the alternator has failed. It really has very little to do with the battery.

There are a few different thing s that could be wrong. From easiest to hardest: 1. Loose or corroded battery terminals 2. Loose or bad connection with wires to either starter or solenoid 3. Bad solenoid 4. Bad starter It's hard to tell what's wrong without knowing sounds and other such things.

a tiny little box on middle of firewall with 2 wires to it and a spring clip, not to be confused with ignition box that is larger, more wires and has a screw holding it on. Regulator is normally a chrome looking or black

Starting with a good sturdy jack, jack up front passenger side of the 95 -99 Dodge Neon. Place onjack stand and remove front passenger side tire and splash guard. From below loosen the pivot bolt and tensing bolt with a 13mm socket and 15mm socket. Unplug 2 prong connection and unbolt cable with 10mm deep-well socket. leave in place. remove 3 bolts from mounting bracket to engine block set and set aside the entire assembly. With patients work the alternator between the body and lower control arm. taking note of the path taken when removing. reverse procedure for reassembly

The engine computer is the voltage regulator.

Disconnect the battery. Use a ratchet to slack the belt, up or down will release the tension. Next just un bolt the alt. and remove the wire harness and replace. Belt goes on the same way as it came off. There is a square slot on the sleve of the tensioner where the ratchet fits.

Most cars and trucks today have what is called a serpentine belt which runs most accessories.They are very dependable and usually easy to replace. To decide if your belt needs replacing, simply look at the grooved side of the belt to see if it is cracking badly. A couple of cracks every 3 inches is normal, but if you see cracks every 1-2 inches I would recommend that you replace it. On most cars and trucks the procedure is basically the same. First off, get the correct belt by bringing your cars VIN number to the parts store(located on your cars dashboard) the parts store may need it. If there are two choices, get them both so you can complete the repair. Once you have the correct belt, take a minute to review how the belt runs across the pulleys and also check to see if your car/ truck has a underhood diagram of belt routing in case you need it. In most cases you will need a socket wrench or breaker bar with either a 3/8" and /or 1/2" head on it and possibly a short extension. Some models may require a wrench of these similar sizes.Now that you are ready to go to work, you will need to find the spring loaded tensioner which is generally located near the top of the belt path; it usually has a shinny pulley on it. Look at the tensioner and insert the tool into it and apply opposing pressure to release the belt.Now, simply install the new belt making sure it fits into the grooves on all the pulleys. Start the car to check it and you are done and you saved yourelf some money!

It's on the passenger side at the bottom. Just follow the serpentine belt to the bottom-- if you know what you're looking for you'll see it, but Good Luck replacing it!
