You had the alternator replaced now having electrical problems?
Usually this is an indication that the electrical wiring system is "screwed up."
Either there was an existing problem, leading to the need to replace the alternator, OR whoever changed the alternator screwed up the wiring.
If a 1998 Kia Sephia will not start what might you need to check?
Battery?? do the headlights work? gas gauge?? does it work? any?? starter?? does it turn over? air filter??? is it clogged?? spark plugs?? are they dirty and/or firing?? no fire?? check distibutor?? injector??? is there gas getting to the it?
How do you replace the alternator on a 1998 Honda Accord EX 6 cylinder automatic?
Paraphrasing from the service manual: 1. disconnect the battery. 2. Remove the cooling fan next to the alternator. 3. Put a wrench on the idler pulley and move it to the rear to lessen the belt tension. Remove belt. 4. Remove alternator connections 5. unbolt alternator plus one bolt holding a wire.
What is the reading direct from the battery with a volt meter when this happens. It should be over 12 volts.Engine at idle, in drive, with the normal load, yes, will have reduced volts until the engine turns faster.

Why slip test is carried on salient pole rotor alternator?
Objective:
To determine the direct & quadrature axis reactances of a salientpolealternator.
Apparatus:
1. Two A.C voltmeters
2. One A.C ammeter
3. Rheostats
4. A single throw triple pole switch
Theory:
The unsaturated values of Xd and Xq for a 3-phase synchronous machine may be
found by applying low values of balanced voltage to its armature, and driving its
rotor mechanically at a speed differing slightly from the normal synchronous speed,
the field circuit being open. The rotating armature m.m.f axis gradually changes, on
account of the 'slip ' between coincidenc4 with the polar & interpolar axes
successively. The reluctance of the magnetic circuit varies cyclically between an
upper & a lower limit, and the armature current consequently changes in the reverse
sense. The ratios of applied voltage to armature current gives the synchronous
reactances, using minimum ratio for Xq and maximum for Xd. Xd has the same
value as would be obtained from the normal no load and short circuit tests.
Procedure:
1. A coupled D.C motor very near to synchronous speed runs the salient- pole
synchronous machine. If the synchronous speed is 1500 rpm, the set is run at
1750 rpm.
2. The stator of the salient pole alternator is supplied from a low voltage (10-20
Volts), 3 -phase supply. The supply frequency is more than 50 Hz as the
supplying alternator is run at 1750 rpm.
3. The field is kept open and the maximum and minimum deflections in the
ammeter (to read the supply voltage) are read.
4. Xd, Xq are calculated.
Results:
Xd = Maximum V/Minimum I
Xq = Minimum V/ Maximum I
Discussion:
1. The alternator should not be run at exactly the synchronous speed, for then
instruments will give steady deflections. The stator voltage must be capable of
close adjustment. The slip must be very small. Otherwise the measurements will
be in error on account of eddy currents in the pole faces or the damper windings.
Page 2
If in the experiment, the slip is very large, and cannot be adjusted to a smaller
value, he measurements are liable to error.
2. The slip tends to pulsate because of fluctuation of torque with the relative pole
positions with the result that there is a tendency for Xd to be underestimated
How much does it costs to replace the alternator of a Honda Pilot?
$326 This is at dealer parts and labor. Remanufactured part is about $268, new is over $400, warranty on new 1 year warranty on re-man 3 years cheaper and better guarantee. 01/2013
How do you replace an alternator in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
First disconnect the battery posts-- then remove the wires from the alternator-- some have a plug in and a large amperage or "charge wire" will bolt on a post --- then loosen the belt-- use the slack adjuster-- slide off the belt from the pulley-- remove all the bolts holding the alternator onto the engine-- replace with new unit in reverse order-- BE DARN SURE YOU GET THE RIGHT BATTERY CABLE TO THE NEGATIVE POST FIRST THEN TO THE POSITIVE POST-- if the battery was low on voltage prior to the alternator being replaced you should charge it on the "bench" before installing it back in the car
How does the alternator recharge the battery?
An alternator is just a small generator that generates AC power and is converted to 12v DC power via a transformer for battery storage and use.
Where is the alternator located on a 2004 dodge ram?
The alternator is driven by the drive belt. Find the belt and follow the routing and you will find the alternator.
How do you replace the alternator on a 1996 Saturn SL2?
I don't know if it would be the same way with an SL2, but I happen to have a 1996 Saturn SL1 that I replaced the alternator with and this is what I had to do to replace it.
First you have to get the car on a lift. Then, take off the passenger side front tire and then there is a plastic splash guard you have to remove to gain access to the alternator. In order to remove the alternator you have to take the tension off the pulley by releasing the serpentine belt. Then, remove the 3 bolts that mount the alternator. but before you remove any electrical connections to the alternator, disconnect the main negative of the battery to prevent shock or a power surge.
I have a 97 SL2 and I have done the alternator.
Everything he stated is correct. A few additional points.
The mounting bolts are very hard to see and you will need to rotate the pulley to get to all of them.
Once the alternator is free it needs to be removed through the wheel well. It won't appear to fit anywhere but it really does.
Additional points: I have changed alternators in SL2s about a dozen times now (much to my chagrin).
1. Before you even BEGIN disconnect your battery completely. You can cause serious damage to your alternator and car computer if you do not. Better to err on the side of caution you see. 2. The other safe thing to do is to remove the serpentine belt BEFORE you get the car on a lift device. 3. Next, raise the car on a lift so you can get underneath safely and easly. 4. Remove the passenger side front tire and splash guards. 5. Remove the electrical wiring from the alternator. 6. Remove the bolts on the alternator. (Taking care to have the alternator secured before removing the last bolt. 7. On many Sl2s upon removal of the last bolt, you may place your hand underneath it, and give it just about a quarter turn, and slowly slide it through an opening below the alternator that looks as though, and may feel as though it should never fit through. You can do this by giving it that quarter turn, and then sorta spiraling it through the opening in a slow and decisive manner.
Repeat these steps in reverse order to insert a new alternator.
The first time i did this it took me an hour, the second 1/2 hour, and there on out it only takes me about 15 minutes. Its a very simple process, almost as easy as changing your oil... the hardest part is undoing the bolts.
Be safe.

How do you change an alternator in a 1999 Ford Mustang?
First to change the alternator: *Take out the oil carbronater *Then clean out the exhaust pipe *Take the alternator and clean what is dirty, then you don't need to change it, because now it's clean!
An alternator cannot "short" out for years or even minutes. The definition of a short is a wire or circuit touching ground to cause a fuse to blow. The circuit is too "short" for the current to flow through the proper load and back to the battery. The voltage regulator in a alternator can act up from time to time and cause improper charging from the alternator. Or a component of the alternator can go bad and cause a charging system problem intermittently. Your question needs to be explained better to give a better answer.
The hole in the bracket that the long bolt passed thru may have a split sleeve in it. That split sleeve slides with some effort, it needs to be pushed back just a little.
Why is the alternator whining?
1. Suspect the belt is loose. Tighten it or use belt dressing.
2. Bearings are worn out on the alternator. Replace the alternator.
3. Poor workmanship on a rebuilt alternator. Replace the alternator.
Change alternator on 1994 Nissan Pathfiner?
best to go from the bottom and to take the tensioner bracket off then when you put the new one on reset the bracket all the way to loose. then the cables are best to connect before you put it back on
also there might be a cover on the bottom like a skid plate you have to take that off to get to the alt.
Sounds to me like the fuseable link is burned. This is wire runs to the starter post, the same one the battery + terminal goes.
well first off honest alternator wouldn't really have anything to do if car doesnt start what i can advise would be check starter that's more than likely it... hmmm hang on whaen u replaced alt? did you put all the wires and clips on correctly because there is a wire that is hooked to starter that goes to alt check all wires and connections also make sure they are not broke make sure they are all tight good connections ok
How difficult is it to replace the alternator and what is involved on a 1999 Jeep Wrangler?
all there is to replacing the alternator is 1. loosin the belt 2. unscrew bottom screw on the alternator (cant miss it) 3. unscrew the top screw 4. remove the alternator from its place 5. remove the 2 power cords attached to the battery and whatnot.
its easer than it looks
Although it is possible, it is not very likely because with an alternator failure, the battery will become discharged, and eventually will "kill" the ignition and thus the engine.
This sounds more like a fuse or relay failure.
Sounds like you've had a belt brake! check your engine bay
How many volts should an alternator give out on a Nissan Micra 2003?
With engine running at idle you should read 13.5 to 15.5 volts at the battery.
