YES - VERY MUCH (Most) cars & trucks use DOT 3 BUT some require Dot 4 & a few use DOT 5-.DOT5 is silicone based fluid & CAN"T be mixed with dot 3 or 4.HONDA requires there own-& Hummers use DOT 5 ONLY-CHECK the cap of the master cylinder 2 C what is Recomended.& if U put power steering fluid in the master-The HOLE system will have 2 b rebuilt.

Check to see that all belts are tightened to factory specs. Too tight or too loose and they will break. Check the alignment of the pulleys. One out of alignment will cause this. Check the tensioner idler pulley if equipped. Installing incorrect type belts will also cause this.

Refer to the link below for the diagram. If you have a serpentine belt it replaces the V-belt in (3) of the diagram. If you have the upper smog pump fitted it is powered from the power steering pulley.

It is called Refrigerant not A/C Fluid. It is very obvious you have neither the knowledge or the proper tools to repair the leak which you have or you would not be charging the system in the first place. You also do not have the tools to charge the system properly. Take your car to a professional and have it repaired and done correctly.

The Nissan Altima has an opaque cylinder that holds the brake fluid. Looking on the side of the cylinder, check the high and low marks and make sure that the fluid is between the two.

Yes it's the milky plastic box. Make sure you fill both sides up to the line. Be careful not to get dirt in the line or let in run too low, it could cause problems in the hydrolic line and require replacement of master and slave cylinders.

It is toward the back about where the drivers right side area would be. However how you get the cap off to add fluid is beyond me. It is too far back to be able to reach in or get a funnel in there. ? ? So how do you add brake fluid on these vans?

It depends on the fluid you are using and how it has been driven. Generally every two to three years. If you buy a bottle of new fluid (DOT4 for newer cars, DOT3 for older cars) and smell it, it will smell much better then fluid in the system that needs to be flushed. "Bad" fluid will smell very pungent. Very dirty fluid should ideally be flushed, but the fluid can get pretty dirty before it "needs" to be flushed. I generally do it once a year just because it's cheap, fairly easy, and helps maintain the most important system in the vehicle.

It goes into the brake fluid resevoir, a tank located in the engine compartment. Specific location will vary depending on the engine you have.

If the leak is in a brake hose, the cost would be about 25 dollars. If the leak is in a metal brake line, the best solution would be to get one from a junkyard. Do not put this repair off! The leak is going to get worse, and you will have no brakes!

If a rubber hose has a leak in it, replace it. Replace its opposite side companion at the same time. Costs will be from 25 to 40 bucks each plus fluid and time if you do it yourself. If you have ABS brakes and have run the system out of fluid, you HAVE to take the car to a mechanic that can work on ABS systems to have the system bled properly.

If you suspect that a metal line is to blame, the most likely place is going to be behind the fuel filter, just ahead of the driver's side rear wheel. This is a 3/16" line, and it CAN be patched with compression fittings, but I wouldn't recommend it. As for the cost? I really don't know, but if one of the rear metal lines is leaking, chances are the other is not far behind. Also, there are fuel return lines that run along with the rear metal brake lines. If you have a leak in the metal brake lines, your fuel lines are probably close also.

Replacing all of those lines can get quite expensive. Good luck.

The master cylinder is under the driver-side interior fresh air filter assembly. Remove the cover & filter. Remove the wire clip on the stud in front of the assembly. Detach the air tunnel. Lift the front of the assembly straight up allowing the back to release. The master cylinder is now visible.

For any make/model car, look under the hood. There are several caps to fluid reservoirs. Look at those caps and identify the one that says "DOT" then a number. This number will usually be 3 or 4. It refers to the type of brake fluid the vehicle needs. Either dot 3 or dot 4 (though there are others). The reservoir that this cap covers is where your brake fluid is kept.
